EXCLUSIVE: The 2016 WWE Home Video Schedule (So Far) – Shane McMahon DVD Planned?

October 16, 2015 by Daniel Bee

WWE Home Video 2016 - Logo

WrestlingDVDNetwork.com can now confirm a list of current WWE Home Video plans for 2016 – including a newly revealed Shane McMahon DVD/Blu-ray penciled in for May release!

The Shane O’Mac DVD is not set in stone as WWE are also considering releasing “Best of the United States Championship” in the same schedule slot. One speculated reason for this could be the company not yet knowing for sure if Shane himself will be involved in the project.

Here are the DVDs and Blu-rays planned for next year. Please note that the list does not include PPVs and all titles and release months are subject to change given the time frame between then and now. Two more sets – a match compilation and a documentary – are yet to be named.

  2. R&REXPRESS#1 says:

Personally I’d rather see the History of the US Title released here….not sure why everyone is chomping at the bit for a Shane McMahon dvd when there are FAR MORE DESERVING people who need one like Arn Anderson, Kevin Nash or Booker T ……somebody’s priorities are sure f***ed up here & it shouldn’t be done just because he’s a McMahon.

    • Anan says:

Nash & Booker T are very deserving of documentary sets. I’m going to add DDP, Bruno Sammartino, Vader and even though he wasn’t really a wrestler, JR’s 30 year career in the business where he became the greatest voice ever and the company’s longest employee, even longer than The Undertaker, Howard Finkel, Pat Patterson are all deserving too in their own right. Point is there’s lot of deserving names who should have their respective careers documented. So you make a great point there. Depending on what the Shane set is comprised of will determine whether or not I buy it. The other names, especially the wrestlers I mentioned are docs I’ve been waiting years of so I’d likely buy them regardless if they were ever released which i hope one day they are. I believe Kane will get a doc one day. Taker too probably after he retires. There’s too much money for his career not to be documented.

      • LP1 says:

JR’s been in the business over 40 years. Also he hasn’t been in the company longer than Taker, Finkel and Patterson. Taker’s been there since 1990, Finkel since 1976 and Patterson since 1979. JR debuted in 1993.

    • uhmyeah says:

the problem with dvd/blurays for guys like DiBiase or Rick Rude (those are the two that in my opinion are the most glaring omissions to date) is simple: most releases that focussed on eighties legends didn’t sell well.

(on the opposite, that’s also why the WWE has been putting out more WCW material in recent years – because a lot of those release had pretty strong sales)

    • josh says:

I agree with r&rexpress, I’d rather see a dvd set on the U.S title than Shane Mcmahon. I would like to see a dvd set on Arn Anderson also. I have a whole list of subjects that I would like to see on video sets. I’ve put lists out several times but I’m not seeing any be put out available. They are putting one out on Owen Hart, that’s one that I want to see, but everything else is not being put out for purchase.

  3. Anan says:

I agree that the Shane/Kane matches were great. I believe there were 2 – Last Man Standing at Unforgiven and Ambulance match at Survivor Series. Both happened in 2003. His match with Orton (from 2009, forgot which PPV) was a good one. His Last Man Standing with Big Show at Backlash 2000 which he won I believe with help, match with Test at Summerslam 1999, and the 6 man tag from Backlash 2009 where Shane, Batista, and HHH fought Legacy would be great additions as well. Of course no Shane collection is complete without Shane vs Vince from WM17.

Hope to see a doc too. But the set having involvement from Shane himself, I don’t know….seems like a longshot at best to me.

Regarding the great release schedule for 2016, here’s another one that is not listed above, one that I’m excited about, courtesy of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter and posted on WrestlingINC.com:

WWE recently filmed around 15 hours worth of interviews with Hall of Famer Bruno Sammartino for a future DVD release, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. No word yet if this footage is for a Bruno DVD or if it will be split up among various releases but we should have confirmation soon.

WWE listed a potential Bruno DVD set in a survey they issued back in April so it’s possible he has his own set coming out in 2016.

Since interviews were filmed for the set, I suspect this will ether be a doc (hope so) or a set similar to The Ultimate Warrior Collection where he provides comments in between the matches.

  4. John says:

I hope Shane’s set will have his matches with Kane, it was very enjoyable and it was Shane’s best matches

  5. GEOLINK says:

I’m thinking the Shane O’Mac DVD will probably get changed into a Network special. But hey, if they’re making an Eric Bischoff set, why can’t they make a Shane McMahon set? Also, if this is a documentary we’ll finally get to know what the hell exact riff he has with his family.

    • RabidHeat says:

I get what you’re saying, but I would say an Eric Bischoff set is a waste of time also. 75% of it will be re-capping the Monday Night Wars … again.

  6. Tommy Hawk says:

Not interested in a Shane O Mac dvd set.

    • Todd Cash says:

      You’re not interested in anything…

      • Tommy Hawk says:

I’m more interested in wrestlers who are deserving of a dvd set (owen hart, Scott hall), not spot monkeys who think they’re suddenly wrestler cos they do garbage stunts.

        • Anan says:

Ted Dibiase, Kevin Nash, DDP, Bob Backlund, Booker T, Goldust, talents with long/distinguished careers, four of which are HOF’ers and one who may go in someday all deserve a documentary set too. I suspect when Kane retires, he’ll get one as he is deserving of that treatment too and same for Taker.

  7. RabidHeat says:

I personally think a Shane McMahon DVD is a crap idea. You could accomplish the same goal by compiling his most famous falls into a two-minute video clip. He’s not even made an appearance in years.

  8. Charles says:

Hello everyone, I’m going to the USA this weekend. From Montreal to New York City and I wonder where to buy wwe bluray at a cheap price. I’m looking for some older bluray like mr wrestlemania, bret dongeon collection, goldberg, etc. And for a newer one: The kliq rules. Thanks

    • LP1 says:

The best bet is to find an FYE store near wherever you’re staying in the city. Unfortunately it’s not like the old days where you can go to any local mom and pop video store and pick up whatever you want. Mom and pop video stores are pretty much non existent. However, if you’re interested in Japanese wrestling (NJPW, All Japan, etc.) you can go to Chinatown(downtown Manhattan, Canal Street) and check out the local video stores. They have a bunch of DVDs with original Japanese commentary. I haven’t been to one those stores in years, but there’s a chance they may have some WWE stuff.

  9. terry royce says:

all these dvds but what about burno samartino ! what are they waiting for when he dies ! come on

    • LP1 says:

Bruno was interviewed on Wrestling Observer Radio last week and he said a few months ago he sat down with WWE to film many hours of interview footage over the course of several days. I believe he said they have something like 15 hours of footage. So that’s a good sign for a possible release. That also means, as sad it is to say, if Bruno passes away they will still have enough footage for years to come to insert into not just his own documentary, but any documentary where WWE uses talking heads.

    • RCS1988 says:

I’m sure they will release a Bruno DVD. I think an unreleased matches set is also on the schedule for 2016 as well.

      • Anan says:

I posted news about a potential Bruno set. It’s in the comments section. I’m gonna see if I can contact some from the site to post it in the news section so everyone can read it.

  10. some guy says:

The Breaking Kayfabe poster looks like a tiny Sean Oliver sitting on Kevin Nash’s lap.

  11. John says:

Hopefully they will change from Hart of Gold to King of Harts on Owen’s set

  12. me says:

Shane McMahon!?!?! Now that came out of left field! This is going to be good.

  13. Paul says:

Much as I would enjoy a Shane release (provided he is fully involved) if it comes down to a straight choice between him or a U.S. Title collection, the U.S. Title wins every time

  14. Nicolas Hébert says:

The True Story of the Royal Rumble will be available only in December 2016? It’s a joke right?

    • Daniel Bee says:

No joke, in the build up to the Rumble (if all goes to plan).

    • attitude.era.4life says:

makes sense in December 2016..as an early celebration of the up coming 30’th anniversary of the greatest ppv concept in jan. 2017.

      • LP1 says:

Actually the 30th anniversary of the Rumble will be January 2018. The first Rumble was in January ’88. Unless you’re using WWE’s screwed up math, where the 25th Anniversary of Mania was in 2009 when it really should’ve been 2010.

        • RCS1988 says:

The 30th Rumble is in 2017. The 30th anniversary of the 1st Rumble will be January 2018.

          • RabidHeat says:

WWE have always misunderstood the ‘Anniversary’ concept – see WrestleMania 25 / WrestleMania 30 DVD covers.

            • LP1 says:

Yup. And also the 25th anniversary of SummerSlam was the tag line for 2012 when it should’ve been 2013. It’s funny cause when you think about it, by WWE’s math, that means WrestleMania 1 is actually the 1st anniversary of WrestleMania. Lol

        • attitude.era.4life says:

maybe it’s called 30’th annual then?

Anyways, will likely be my favorite release for 2016, the History of Rumble.. RR is the highest regarded event in history for me.

    • SC316 says:

That sucks! Over a year left for the best of the Royal Rumble set 🙁 There are so many past rumble matches I want on blu-ray man like HBK Vs Taker’s casket match, HBK’s 95 win, Yokozuna Vs Taker’s casket match! Or can’t they just make a Shawn Michaels Blu-Ray set which includes all his great matches including his matches above as well as SummerSlam92- Vs Rick Martel, Bad Blood 97 Vs Taker – 1st HIAC!?

  15. David says:

Is the Best PPV Matches 2015 going to be on Blu-ray? I hate buying DVD for ppvs recorded in HD. If not, then might as well stick to the Network since the quality is superior to DVD anyways.

    • John Peterson says:

The Best PPV Matches of 2015 is DVD only unfortunately.Which sucks cause I’d like to see one of the Cena Vs Owens matches on Blu Ray.Hopefully they also put a match from Elimination Chamber.

  16. Kenny says:

A Shane McMahon DVD? Really…? Is that really necessary? I’m waiting on the Linda DVD. That’ll be a must-buy.

    • Richard W says:

Kenny, don’t say it too loud as there could also be a Stephanie McMahon DVD set in the process or making. Better not say that too loud as WWE might get ideas here.

  17. attitude.era.4life says:

    I call it now:

WM 32.. in the similar huge surroundings as the greatest WM ever X7… 15 years later, we will see a street fight for supremacy and control of the company, only, this time it will be a brother vs sister match.

You read it hear first.. 😉

More seriously, this would be my favorite performer-themed release of the next year untill now.. Many I know, dont share my fascination of Shane O’ Mac, but he is hands down the most skilled non-wrestler wrestler ever, and is way more cool and entertaining to watch than lots of past and especially present talents.

    Here comes the Money.. Sweeeet!

  18. James says:

Hopefully, a Bruno Sammartino Blu-Ray and DVD will be produced.
