Last November one WWE DVD we revealed as slated for release in 2011 was The 50 Biggest Matches in WWE History. Plans have since changed and the WWE will be making the DVD with a new concept, according to Amazon.
Instead, The 50 Most Shocking, Surprising & Amazing Moments in WWE History is now on the schedule in it’s place.
It will be released in the same slot as previously planned, on August 23rd to North America, and it looks as if it’s being produced for both DVD and Blu-ray formats. The title of the set may no doubt change before then but this is the new approach.
Judging by this photo (with thanks to Manuel on Twitter), the WrestleMania 27 Blu-ray edition will be contained in special packaging. It’s a cardboard outer slip case, which is actually a first for a WWE Blu-ray. More pics to come.
The Blu-ray is released this Tuesday.
You are VERY unlikely to see the Undertaker beating Hulk Hogan at Tuesday in Texas on this DVD or anyhwere else for that matter. The main reason being that it never happened.
No doubt their latest top 50 release is going to be very slanted towards their own version of events, i can’t see them adding Owen’s death, it’s just too much of a hot topic.
Some moments i’m expecting to see included are Shane McMahon on Nitro, Austin turning heel, the montreal screw job, some kind of kiss my ass scene, undertaker beating hogan at a tuesday in texas, dx invading WCW, rock and sock’s birthday celebration….a few from the top of my head
The Owen thing was obvious but I didnt think I’d put it on my hokey list since it was an accident. But then continuing the show was not an accident so that should top such a list.
I also remember being pretty annoyed that vince mcmahon’s fake death was all over the website with really heavy fake tributes. Meanwhile in very small print at the bottom of the page it read ‘Sherri Martel Passes Away’. About a week later their attitude changed and you know why.
Maybe we should dwell more on the ‘Shocking, Surprising & Amazing Moments’ rather than Vince dropping his balls. I’m sure you could make a pretty heavy list of bad things. But let’s hope releasing this DVD is not one of them. Plenty of good stuff to think about. Its a broad concept so it could have anything on it. Suggests to me they are running out of DVD concepts, which is ridiculous because its not a hard thing to think about. I think the best DVDs are the career profiles. They seem to have lost their touch somewhat. I look forward to the DiBiase set.
That wasn’t his fault (not to quote Snitsky or anything) HOWEVER going on with Over the Edge 1999 will always top my list of the most digusting things I have ever seen this company do. Look we are a site that promotes them. I’m not here to bash them, but you won’t find anybody flaming me for saying that it was down right cruel to continue that show. You should not have to wrestle in your best friend who just died minutes ago’s blood, even if you are a Jeff Jarrett.
Anonymous: Having a product name which sounds like wee turned out pretty well for Nintendo 😉 Got one for your list – blowing out his knees at Royal Rumble 2005.
Well we all know the Company re-writes history to an extent, not to neglect most talent (Benoit-understandable) but for personal reasons (Savage), legal reasons (Owen), it’s just such a shame this company can’t be truthful to it’s audience. Withtout us they don’t make money. Tell us the truth. If they wan’t to give us the 50 best matches don’t be selling us on John Cena and Shawn Michaels, was that match great? Yeah. But it wasn’t top 50 material or anywhere near it.
I could see the greatest 50 matches being released at a later date, having watched the 50 superstars, its going to be a hit and mix bag, with many of them mote suited to being in a top 200 list. This next 50 should be entertaining.
if someone has wrestlemania early,do they keep for whom the bells toll on triple h’s entrance or is it dubbed.same with undertaker’s?
The ‘Top 10 Best Vinny Man Ball Drops’:
10. Putting his annoying family on television every week 1999-2001
9. XFL
8. Kiss my ass club
7. Renaming WWF something that sounds like wee
6. WCW invasion
5. The WWE ECW
4. Not releasing a Ravishing Rick Rude DVD
3. Not releasing a British Bulldog DVD
2. Screwing Bret
1. John Cena
I’m sure I could have given it some more thought, but those are the ones that come to mind. Can’t wait to pick this one up. Looks like a cracker!
50 BIGGEST FARTS
50 greatest matches would have been far more meaningful. This will be filled with all sorts of crap. No doubt Cena being drafted to who cares will be in the top 10. At least a great wrestling match has some kind of substance to it.
how about a 50 Best Vinny Man Ball Drops it can be the 50 best moments from him either screwing the fans, screwing himself (ie XFL, bring back ECW on SyFY, ect.), or just horrible storylines (Kane/Katie Vick, HBK God, ect.)
I can see this going down much better than 50 Greatest matches.
Sounds to me like 2010’s scrapped 100 Craziest Moments DVD. Only now we’re getting half of them 😉 Or Legendary Moments – the extended version. I suppose it will be a fun watch, and might turn out better than a 50 Greatest Matches set would have.
I think WWE are really overdoing it with these themes and it just looks like theyre throwing stuff together now. “The 50 Most Shocking, Surprising & Amazing Moments in WWE History” ??? What does that even mean? You could easily make several DVDs out of this one title. Whats next? 50 biggest pranks? 50 greatest finishers? 50 greatest employees?
I hope my Blu-Ray comes w/ a slip case. Excited for The 50 Most Shocking, Surprising & Amazing Moments in WWE History. It sound’s better than 50 greatest Superstars.
Hope we get that BD slipcase in the UK!
