New “Best of WWE” DVD Series – Attitude Volume? Edge Documentary Pics

February 29, 2012 by Daniel Bee

Thomas sent word of a possible new “Best of WWE” DVD series in the works, which supposedly is coming in separate volumes.

I work for Fopp Records which is part of HMV in the UK. We get a monthly magazine sent only to the DVD/Blu-Ray section called Cue Entertainment and inside was a column on future WWE releases from Silver Vision.

It said that WWE Vintage are planning to release the following: WWE Best of 1985-1989, WWE Best of 1990-1994, WWE Best of 1995-1999 & another one I believe to be 2000-2004? It said more details to follow.”

Since the magazine article will be specifically about the UK market, there is a chance the new series will be exclusive to the region if going ahead, but nothing is confirmed yet. Similarly, there is a chance this is the “Attitude” DVD Mick Foley recently mentioned. More details when we get them.

WWE.com have posted up photos from the documentary shoot of “You Think You Know Me? The Story of Edge“. This is released on DVD and Blu-ray in April.

4 disc sets! Wow, that would be very special and I would love to see them.

Silver Vision never released the Best of WWF Series from Coliseum video so they won’t be doing them on tagged classics. They would only re-release if it was through wwe (and edited), which is always possible, but they haven’t done that for years so my guess is its unlikely. Plus that wouldn’t cover all the periods mentioned there.

Thanks for the info Thomas, sounds great!

  2. @PWOnDemand says:

Recently on WWE Greatest Matches, they’ve uploaded Best of WWE volumes 1,2,3 from some old 90’s VHS, could it be those that Silvervision are re-releasing in the UK?

Can’t wait for the Edge DVD! Fixing to get Best PPV Matches of 2011 this weekend, and they should SO not make it exclusive to the U.K. U.S. has ALSO been waiting for a set like this!!! 🙁

I hope they release it also here in the USA

Hi, I’m Thomas who sent in this story, the article mentioned these would be 4 disc sets, so if your worried they will be like those terrible Best Of’s that SilverVision released, I don’t think they will be. But it’s still something cool to look out for and lets see if they will be any good!

@SRB: I think we can all imagine what happened post 2004 😉

  7. SRB says:

@Mike buzzard. Not only a pre 1985, but how about a post 2004?

  8. mike buzzard says:

I love the fact they could be doing a best of history DVD. I just wish they would acknowledge there was a wwe pre 1985.

  9. Daniel says:

I am very curious as to how they bring out the best of WWE DVDs. I just hope we don’t get stuff from PPV’s and Mainia. I hope we see matches from Raw and Smackdown from the start of the year to the end of the year. I think they could sell very well if done right!

  10. Harry Faversham says:

By the way, a few years ago silver vision put out a list of a series of DVDs they were going to come out. There were about 8 of them I think and they released a few. The list was even printed in those little inserts you get with the DVDs. But they got to volume 4 on the list which was ‘The Return of Batista’ and then stopped. Then they started ‘Best of WWE’ series. All of these are out of print now.

  11. Harry Faversham says:

The last ‘Best of WWE’ Series Silver Vision did was fucking terrible. They had about 4 matches on DVDs that were all on superstars that already had a much bigger DVD with the same macthes on. The titles sound amazing though. But I wouldn’t be surprised if they are about 4 matches long with matches taken from more prominent previous DVDs. Thats just my guess but if they are silvervision exlcusive thats what they are usually like and most of the ones they have done in the past are now out of print. I look forward to seeing this and I hope they are more substantial because that would be great.

  12. SRB says:

Best of WWE could really start something wonderful in the DVD series. But, I’m worried if projected sales aren’t successful WWE will pull the plug, which is somewhat understandable, but I still have not gotten over Survivor Series Volumes 3 and 4 and Raw Volumes 3 and 4 never being released. These were suppossed to be wonderful releases that WWE has chosen not to continue with. Fans are still dissapointed about this today. If they are going to announce this stuff they need to see it through until the end.

That ‘Best of WWE’ concept sounds very cool – if done correctly! Hopefully they don’t fill it with PPV and Mania matches!
