Blog: Early Preview / Review of WWE Raw The Beginning: Seasons 1 & 2

July 29, 2010 by Danny Gowen

Wow, after 12 hours of some old school RAW I thought I would give every one the early inside scoop on the Raw Seasons 1 & 2 DVD like only WWEDVDNEWS.COM can deliver!

The DVD covers the years 1993 and 1994. The DVD consists of 4 disc’s with 2 disc’s for each year for a total of 12 hours of old school Monday Night Raw action. I personally really like the way the DVD is set up as far as the case and box as you can see from the pictures.

The matches on the DVD are great, plus you get a lot of classic moments and some great promos. Before every chapter starts you get some information about the match or the superstars in the segment. Its not like the pop up info you got during the Raw 15th anniversary DVD set, its just a little info before it gets started.

Now one thing I think it could have done without is all the Doink the clown matches. I would have liked to seen more Undertaker or Bret Hart matches then the Doink matches.

The matches that were really classic and fun to watch were Razor Ramon vs. Shawn Michaels, Diesel vs. Lex Luger, Undertaker vs. Kwang, British Bulldog vs. Tatanka, Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Yokozuna, Diesel vs. Razor Ramon, Bret Hart vs. Bam Bam Bigelow, and Shawn Michaels vs. The 1-2-3- Kid.

Another nice thing about it is no blurs on the WWF logo, of course they block out when they say WWF but the old block logo is not blurred. For those that dont know why this is, its because in the law suit from the name change they only have to edit out the WWF scratch logo that was used during the attitude era. Thats why when they release DVD’S with matches or footage thats from 1998 or later, the block WWF logo does not get edited out.

All together this DVD is great for the old school fan, or even if you are a new fan and want to see some vintage WWF action. I highly recommend this DVD for any collector to get this for your collection. Its put together really well, the cover art looks great, and the way its a box set is also nice.

When it gets closer to the release date Ill let every one know the price of the DVD from all the major stores. I will also find out if FYE, Best Buy, K-Mart, or Wal-Mart will offer any kind of a store exclusive for this release. I would personally like to see at least one of these stores offer some kind of a exclusive since its been a little while since an exclusive has been offered.

well as that might be true im sure they wrestled more matches then what they put on the dvd. not to mention all the other stars that were around then, they could have used them instead of all the doink matches, cause i doubt he wrestled on the show more then any one else. i know the guy that did doink also did skinner and is curently one of the trainers of fcw, but damn we dont need 10 doink matches of him on 1 dvd set.

unfortunatly during the 1993/1994 episodes of raw the likes of bret hart and the undertaker did not wrestle on them very often at all where as doink wrestled an awful lot that is why doink is featured in more matches as he quite simply wrestled a lot more than the other guys on monday night raw

Great stuff I would kill to have a source like that for early releases.

to answer cameron’s question – i have a guy that gets 4-5 of the new wwe dvds early, some times 2 months before they hit the stores. so he hooks me up with what i need, i dont get all the ppv’s but all the others i get from him. having this connection to get these early is like gold to me, for me it beats going to wal-mart at midnight and waiting in line to get the new dvds. now they are mailed to me a few weeks early and we are able to get a post like this up for the site!

  6. We here at wwedvdnews get alot of the releases early, please expect alot more articles like this in the future
