Just one week after The Undertaker’s WrestleMania winning streak reached 20-0 inside Hell in a Cell, WWEDVDNews.com have learned that a 3 Disc DVD and 2 Disc Blu-Ray could be in the works looking at The Undertaker’s legendary streak.
According to VideoETA.com the set is tentatively titled “Undertaker Streak” and scheduled for release in the US on July 24, 2012.
This is not the first time WWE have released a DVD set on the Undertaker’s WrestleMania winning streak as 2007/08 saw the release of The Undertaker 15-0.
We hope to have more details and confirmation of this title very soon. Stay tuned.
i don’t think i’m buying this set i mean i own all wrestlemanias why waste my money.
well now we have blu rays that can store more data and we can have full length matches
The last DVD, 15-0 advertised interviews with past opponents. We never got that. Plus, a lot of matches were clipped rather than shown in their entirety. I hope this time, things will be as advertised. Every Taker DVD has been a compilation of stuff and either hosted or narrated by someone. I hope the host or narrator this time is Taker himself if there is one and the matches are shown in their entirety with the entrances and stuff.
I’m also anxiously awaiting a long anticipated DVD/Blu Ray sets on Taker, Sting, Kane and Paul Bearer with a documentary included after retiring from the business and perhaps even after they enter the HOF. Since they’ve been in the business so long, done so much and all, their stories would be awesome.
they shouldnt of released a dvd of the undertakers streak when he hit 15-0 plus if u own the mania anthology like me u can see the start of his streak and if u own all the wrestlemanias then there would be no point unless they have a story or something?
You had to know this dvd was coming. I will probably get it but about half of the matches are terrible. Cmon WWE and step up your game. How about a Best of In Your House, a Best of the War Games, a Best of Ted DiBiase with doc, hell even the best of the US title. The best of the Clash of the Champs was a great idea but even that is missing 3-5 classic matches. Hopefully the CM Punk DVD coming out is as awesome as it could be.
Yeah….NOT a REAL streak! I do not consider opponents he has beaten more than once at WM to be included in the streak.
Why? where does it say that a streak has to be different people? he’s won 20 matches in a row, that’s a streak, and would be even if it was the same opponent every year…
so you are saying a streak isn’t a streak if the same opponents are on it? Do you not watch sports? Teams play each other all the time. I’m baseball, teams play each other 3 games in a rrow. Are you sayi8ng if they won all 3 then that isn’t a 3 game win streak?
Benoit’s still mentioned and shown when needed, if it was an anthology of the streak he would’ve still been put on, just like in the anthology of the Elimination Chamber. Benoit hasn’t been erased from history, he’s just no longer mentioned where it isn’t relevant.
I imagine it’s a set that would do well. But I just assume wait a few years and buy one that’s the full deal: The Streak – The Complete Journey.
Benoit didnt existed according to wwe lol
He will be 19-0
Imagine if he would have wrestled benoit
I’d like 2c his old WM match on Blu-Ray – Vs Giant Gonzalaz. Vs Kane frm WM 14 wud also b good! His WM 28 match made him luk like the new Stone Cold going into retirement 🙁
I cannot believe people are complaining about this so much. Get a grip on your life
Just pure WWE laziness. Put out a War Games DVD or a Million Dollar Man documentary! Instead we get a DVD of the same crap that has been released on a million other sets
Some extras could be the Funeral Parlor where Jake slams the lid of the casket on Undertaker’s hand.
The promo b4 WM12 where Paul Bearer shows Diesel the casket of him in it.
Sid vs Bret WWE Title cage match from the Raw b4 WM13 where Unertaker cost Bret the match.
Almost anything from the Taker – Kane feud b4 WM14
If it’s all the streak matches, I wonder what the Blu-Ray extras will be. Promos?
I could see them including segments and promos leading up to specific Wrestlemania matches like with HBK, HHH, Orton, Flair, etc.
Eh, I already have all the matches, don’t need it, good idea though
I have two requests for this set 1. pay limp bizkit to use taker’s rollin theme for WM 17-19 that dubbing is really shit and it’ll only be 3 matches like. 2. completely redo the WWF blurring because they’ve gotten better at it recently but they’ll probably use the already blurred versions from like 2004-ish which have been shit…WrestleMania 17 the greatest event off al time has become unbearable to watch because of all the over the top blurring they did. it needs redone
Why is this a waste I mean for people like me who don’t own any of the Wm and enjoy the Taker this is a great buy I just hope they don’t screw it up like the Undertaker 15-0 which was terrible because it was edited and very misleading on the back of the box
Retarded! What a waste
Actual there is a Doc on the This is My Yard dvd which I own and is amazing one at that .I just hope all the matches on this release are not cut or edited like the one that Walmart put out Undertaker 15-0 the box was very misleading
I will buy this for sure I hope it does have some cool extras on it and a cool looking cover not sure if I will go blu or dvd .I also hope that his Hell In The cell match from this past WM will be on here .I have all the Undertaker collection dvds so far .
Fear not – there will be an Undertaker documentary DVD at some stage soon. But I think they’ll wait until he’s announced his retirement. If WWE did release it now, people would only complain that it doesn’t include his final days etc.
Not a bad release, I guess. For people who don’t collect every WWE DVD, it could be cool. It will be nice to have all his matches on blu-ray HD. I’ll get it for the collection.
A useless dvd for those of us who own the entire Wrestlemania collection. I would have preferred a documentary on a WWE legend, which over time have decreased
I was thinking, JR calling last week’s match would continue a theme for a future DVD of all twenty matches.
I didn’t think it would be so soon.
Wouldn’t make sense if there wasn’t a 20-0 DVD to be honest? The taker deserve it.
LAME
15-0 came out in October 2007, actually. It came with a SmackDown vs. RAW 2008 preview DVD and that game came out 11/13/07.
As long as all the matches are in full this time, and maybe add some interviews with his opponents, it could be decent at least…
This looks a good set for the casual Undertaker fan who hasn’t already got 15-0 and all the Wrestlemania’s on DVD, i hope they include some comments from the Undertaker himself about his matches & opponents and also words from those opponents about their matches.
I thought they was listening to surveys we did they need to do the Uncensored Attitude set that we have been begging for.
another lazy release
This set will be awesome if they included promos and matches that lead up to the WrestleMania Matches. A 3 disc set can hold way more than just the 20 matches.
@SRB @HarryFaversham Your posts raised some issues that I’ve been contemplating recently (clearly, my life is a mess!) I probably buy about 60% of all WWE DVD releases, and am as miffed as the next guy when a match on the latest bio DVD has already appeared on other DVD sets. However, I think we need to remember that those of us visiting this site are hardcore fans/collectors, and choose to buy in the high quantities that we do. At the same time, I think we have to appreciate that some fans don’t have the money (or inclination) to purchase every DVD under the sun, and thus they shouldn’t be “punished” by being deprived of the top matches on the compilation/bio sets. I can see the argument from both sides, but I think more often than not, WWE gets it about right.
This argument is particularly relevant as it pertains to this potential release, as the majority of us commenting here will indeed have all 20 of the Undertaker’s WM matches already. But as Harry pointed out, if WWE are to put together a compilation set with all 20, it shouldn’t be seen as a punishment to us, but a helping hand to those not quite so enthusiastic about collecting as us here.
On a separate note, I won’t be buying this (as I’m not a huge Undertaker fan); but I can definitely see the appeal of sitting back and enjoying watching the matches back-to-back, without having to flip the disc 20 times. Especially for the earlier years, when the matches were swifter.
I can agree with you Simon. It’s obvious this DVD is not intended for “Hardcore” DVD fans like most of the visitors on this site. I guess my complaint is that I feel many DVDs as of late are very hit or miss and when we do get a hit it seems to be missing about 2 hours of content. So now WWE will release a 20-0 DVD, likely to have cut matches and entrances. Yes, the casual fan will likely want this and i can see the success of Blu-Ray. Me personally, I’ll save my money and make my own compilation since every one of these matches are available on multiple other sets
That would be awesome, I would be buying Blu-Ray even I have the other Undertaker DVDs!
would rather see a collection of his matches or a documentary
want to see the angle vs undertaker rematch from no way out in smackdown
undertaker vs batista steel cage 2007 on smackdown has this been released on dvd?
Yawn myself and many others own all the WMs so we all have the streak and to be honest in my opinion the streak is garbage. There I said it, I appreciate Takers work effort over 20 plus years but I don’t like him and the streak is too big for it’s own good.
I have been a huge Undertaker fan since I was 4 years old (21 years to be exact). Having said that, I already have the majority of the Streak on dvd and see no reason to purchase this in order to get the last few matches not already in my collection. As important and unique as the Streak has been, I would rather see another collection of matches or even a damn documentary on the man.
good idea for hardcore taker fans and people such as myself that buy every release on dvd and blu-ray but for sure not a good idea with tons of stuff from WCW,ECW,WCCW,AWA,etc. still buried.
i dont understand why buy up all the video libraries and then not release much of it and when you do it is in small bits at a time.
The streak is a big deal and if your an Undertaker fan this is probably the ultimate. You can’t expect every little undertaker fan to buy 20 wrestlemanias. So I think they are actually being good to their fans with this. I really think its excellent news. The last one doesn’t count in my book because half of the matches were clipped to get it all on to one disc. The only problem I have is when/if he goes 21-0 it will be incomplete.
Could be interesting with build up to the matches and a doc about the feuds he had!
Interesting, but they should come out with unreleased archives DVD set, like the one I showed in another part on this website. WWE should make DVD’s that the guy comes up with in the fantasy concept.
They same guy who does fantasy concept brought you this piece of news 🙂
Another fantasy concept will up up tommorow – it’s a good one, I think you’ll like it.
Totally my opinion here but if there was ever a DVD to skip this would be it. Now if you’re obsessed with Blu-Ray then maybe you should get it. I personally will be passing on this one all together. Don’t get me started on how EVERY match will have been released before, but i could make the same identical compilation from the DVDs in my basement. All that footage in those libraries and the streak is what we get? Come on, Where’s Rick Rude or a Halloween Havoc anthology? I get it WWE, the streak has been going for 20 years and is very strong, ya, i see that, but for the WWE fans who collect every DVD this choice is completely absurd.
WWE sells over 100,000 copies of certain titles. Do you think every single one of those people buy every single DVD WWE puts out like you or all the other collectors on here? No, they have to cater to a worldwide audience. How many people do you think actually buy them all? Not as many as you think. So if you’re pissed WWE doesn’t cater to just the super mark collectors, you need to learn a thing or two about business. They have to make a product that is appealing to EVERYONE, not just the marks.
I need to learn a thing or two about the business? I dont even know where to begin with you man. Wow, I’ve been walking around watching WWE for the past 25 years thinking WWE only made shows, magazines, DVDs, merchandise, theme music and their website to cater to me personally. I thought the purchase of WCW was for me too. Youre telling me it wasn’t? What a shock this is. I said in my earlier post that I understand the streak is the most successful thing in WWE today, so why not make ANOTHER dvd? However, like I also said EVERY match has been released, allowing people to make this compilation on their own and actually filling the discs. But, you go ahead and buy it. You’ll get cut matches, cut entrances and Taker not having anything to do with the set just like normal. It’s people like you that help WWE cash in on their failed DVD attempts and repeated nonsense. You must be excited about the falls count anywhere DVD too. Should be a great one! Anyways, I gotta get going. I just realized WWE doesn’t just cater to me so I’ve got to find another billion dollar company who will give me what I want.
25 years huh? How’s that virginity treating you?
I don’t think the matches were full the previous time.
Hopefully this one it will be.
@BigCal – It’ll be much more than 2 hours for entrances alone, never mind build-up videos. The entrances and post-match activity at WM27 totals around 20 minutes, and there was about half hour of entrances/exits at WM28. I think this will have to be a 4-disc DVD and 3-disc Blu Ray set. Would be interesting if ‘Taker could talk about each for a couple of minutes before each bout (a la the Shawn Michaels ‘From the Vault’ DVD), but it’s more in hope than expectation.
Awesome. Will be picking this up for sure. Having ALL of Undertaker’s WM matches on Bluray? Hells yes.
Also, I was sad enough to add up the length of all his WM matches, and it comes to 5 hours 20 minutes (roughly). Add as much as an extra 2 hours for build up videos and entrances and that’s only 7 hours 20 minutes; 3 DVD’s and 2 Bluray discs are more than enough to fit everything on!
It’ll be interesting to see if the full matches are on this set considering the Bossman match with the hanging has been shunned upon after the Benoit incedent. I’d personally enjoy the set if it included all 20 in their entirety, probably couldn’t be too hard.
The WWE DVD guys are really getting out of ideas for new DVDs. First, a 3 disk Falls Count Anywhere DVD and now a DVD on The Undertaker’s streak. Anyways, looking forward to some of his classic Mania bouts like his match with Giant Gonzales at WM 9 and Big Boss Man at WM 15.
Hmmm…
