To update, the Blu-ray edition of Capitol Punishment 2011 has been removed from the WWE schedule (North America) that we have access to. We also noticed recently that Money in the Bank 2011 on Blu-ray has also been taken off there.
Quick check of Amazon reveals the Capitol Punishment Blu-ray is now listed as “unavailable” rather than stating a release date.
Our guess is just like for the European market, these Blu-rays have been cancelled because of poor sales performance of PPVs on the format. We’ll let you know if anything changes.
SummerSlam 2011 is the next WWE PPV currently slated for Blu-ray, according to our schedule.
I just pre-ordered Money In The Bank on Blu on Amazon. It does say the Blu for Capital Punishment is unavailable, BUT They have NOT canceled my pre order for it either.
i just got over the limit on blu ray from fye. According to them the Blu Ray is still on the schedule. So I dunno lol
The problem I have with them canceling the BDs due to poor sales is that the last 2 (Extreme Rules and Over The Limit) have had very limited releases. Extreme Rules didn’t even make it to retail locations, while Over The Limit is sparsely available for in-store pickup at Best Buy stores and hasn’t been seen anywhere else.
If they’d actually put these out at Walmart, Target, Kmart, etc., they might see sales. When you rely solely on the purchases to be online, you’re not going to make a ton of sales.
I was hoping MITB would be on Blu, especially with the Punk storyline and the idea for good extras to go along with it.
I just wish they would make up their minds. they have been flip flopping on everything lately.
Yes MITB is still on Amazon but (without trying to brag) the schedule we use is often updated quicker than theirs, since it’s directly with the source. Capitol Punishment and MITB both had seperate Blu-ray listings and those are gone. Still a chance MITB becomes a 2-pack with both PPVs but seems to me the next will be SummerSlam.
No one is buying those shows on pay-per-view, why would they buy them on DVD or Blu-ray? WWE ppv buyrates are at an all time low. I wouldn’t blame the Blu-ray format as being a failure. Blu-ray sales as a whole are up across the board. Except WWE. WWE needs to re-evaluate how they present their ppv’s. The price of those shows are a good starting point. Way too expensive. And then another $25 for Blu-ray. That’s ridiculous.

Damn! WWE on Blu-ray was awesome! sucks they had to scrap those two. Was hoping all 2011 ppvs would be on Blu-ray.
