REVEALED: Details on WWE’s 2018 Hardy Boyz DVD, New NXT DVD Today; Release Date For The Next?

WWE - Jeff Hardy Looking Suspiciously at His Brother Matt Hardy

Following the announcement that WWE will produce a new Hardy Boyz DVD sometime next year, new rumblings on social media indicate that filming has officially begun!

WrestlingDVDNetwork.com can exclusively reveal that the DVD is scheduled for April 2018.

To date, all signs have pointed to a match compilation format for this one, such as the working title “Best of The Hardy Boyz” and its synopsis when the idea first surfaced on a WWE-issued survey.

However, Brian “Road Dogg” James has revealed that he was interviewed by WWE last week for this DVD release, which suggests to us it may actually include a documentary portion as its main feature or at the very least have interview pieces dotted around the match selections.

Superstar-themed documentaries that kicked off the WWE Home Video schedule the past couple of years have been “DDP: Positively Living” in 2017, and “Straight Outta Dudleyville” in 2016. The latter, a biography of the returning Dudley Boyz, seems to be a close match to this project on the Hardys.

WWE Hardy Boyz DVD & Blu-ray Documentary Coming in 2018!

There’s good news today as WWE Home Video UK have just announced that Survivor Series 2017 will see a release on both DVD and Blu-ray formats in the UK on January 22nd, 2018.

With Survivor Series confirmed to be a DVD-only title on the release schedule for the United States, there was some concern there may not be a Blu-ray edition of the PPV in any region.

The 2018 WWE DVD line-up known so far has locked in titles for January and February, and with the Hardy Boyz DVD referenced earlier now April too. We speculate that if the “Best of NXT 2017” DVD compilation is still in the works, its release date could fall in between, in March.

Speaking of NXT, today is day fans in the United States can grab “NXT: From Secret to Sensation” as it’s now officially landed in stores. The DVD is currently Amazon’s “#1 New Release” in their Sports category and you can grab a copy for only $17.89 by clicking here to Amazon.com.

The new NXT DVD was released to the UK yesterday along with a Blu-ray edition. As we’ve reported, unfortunately the Blu-ray was cancelled in North America; Amazon’s product page now lists it as “unavailable” and thus the Blu-ray looks to be exclusive to the UK, Germany and Australia.

When first added to the schedule, the formats for “NXT: From Secret to Sensation” included a DVD, a Blu-ray, and a “Giftset” that would bundle the DVD with some unannounced NXT merchandise. There has been no further word on the box set version so it’s likely only the DVD made it to stores.

I didn’t see the Dudley set. But the Hardyz set could be like The Streak or The Legacy of SCSA where its a match compilation set but in between matches are “exclusively made for the set” comments.

  2. Eric Schneider says:

Hardy Boyz aren’t good talkers or interviewers.

  3. SCSA says:

Wow! I just realised that the DVD ‘Easter Egg’ can also be used on the Blu-Ray versions too! It’s not exactly like real long segments, but it’s kewl to know it’s there! I was just thinking that all the easter eggs made for DVD’s would already be somewhere in a Blu-Ray set.

  4. SRB says:

In all seriousness (thumbs up and down aside), I think the Hardy’s set could really be something fantastic. A few things to consider though: The match compilations are good, but they don’t feel too much like a career retrospective to me. I think hearing from the guys themselves regarding their lives and careers boosts the releases as feeling much more complete and personal. That being said, WWE documentaries have really gone below an acceptable level as of late. Personally, I hate what they have turned into. I did enjoy the Owens one, but 60 minutes for an entire person’s career seems a bit short and then to not even fill the disc on top of that feels like a slap in the face. The Hardys absolutely have had a long career and deserve a decent set (Yes, I’m aware other sets have been released on them). However, as blu-rays seem to be something of the past in the eyes of WWE, I am not holding my breath. This release is going to be hyped by their recent return, which seems unnecessary considering their many great tag and singles matches.

    • Brandon vendetta says:

It could be fantastic but it wont be. If it does have a doc about them it will be around an hour maybe an hour 10 minutes and the other 2 discs will be the best of(meaning mostly repeats). I know that word upsets alot of you non collectors but once again I’ll probably be right. And no matter if I am or not it will still sell.that’s the sad thing.

      • RabidHeat says:

I have to agree with the two comments here. If documentaries are only going to be just over an hour long I wish they would not bother. I’m also not big on the common device they use now where they focus on backstage footage from the present day and keep jumping back to the past; I much prefer a chronological 2 hour documentary in the vein of the bio DVDs from the 2000s.

The thing is, it’s not just the duration; many of the docs these days just aren’t put together well and are merely slapped together, with an ending that comes out of nowhere. ‘The True Story of the Royal Rumble’ is a good example.

  5. LP1 says:

It appears the new gimmick is for people to give a thumbs down to comments for no real reason at all. It’s a new way for the trolls to have fun.

  6. meme says:

Lots of rare stuff could be on this dvd. A long career for both guys. I hope to see a lot of stuff from 1994-1998 when they were still quasi-jobbers.

  7. Justin F says:

Probably another worthy WWE DVD purchase for me.

  8. Robert emons says:

Received my copy of the NXT DVD and no mercy/hell in a cell DVD in the mail yesterday!

  9. SRB says:

Although somewhat unrelated to this article itself, I’m looking very forward to WWE’s Black Friday announcement whenever that occurs. There’s tons of DVDs I need to grab and have been waiting to get.

  10. whut says:

while this should be self explainatory, I urge everyone that is glad that Survivor Series 2017 is scheduled for a bluray release to buy out it around release date (instead of waiting for it to get cheaper etc.). money talks, and in cases like this it’s up to the consumer (so: us!) to make that decision financially worthwhile for Fremantle

  11. Mark Markson says:

Very happy that Europe will get Survivor Series on blu-ray. 😀 The best news of today.

I’m not sure about a new Hardys set. I fear it will be full of repeats.

  12. Ruthless.Attitude.Eras.4Life says:

Hopefully, the Hardy’s release will make it on Blue..and then the 2 other matches, besides the WM 25 match, they had against each other can be released in full HD.
