Exclusive Details of WWE Undertaker: The Streak DVD & Blu-Ray for July

April 10, 2012 by Daniel Bee

Further details of WWE Undertaker: The Streak Home Video release have today been shared with us.

(Kindly link back to this article if you are using any portion of this news post on your own websites and blogs).

The major revelations are that every Undertaker streak match will be shown in its entirety, and that the release will additionally include the “first ever comprehensive biography, spanning the Undertaker’s career at WrestleMania and beyond”.

Information contained in a press release suggests the title will be a 4-Disc DVD and 3-Disc BD. It was however also just added to the schedule we have access to, listed as a 3-Disc DVD. The number of discs is unclear but the July 24th, 2012 release date is set.

We can also reveal the official synopsis for Undertaker: The Streak

It is the most impressive feat in the history of Sports Entertainment, and one that may never be duplicated. Twenty times Undertaker has stepped in the ring at the Showcase of the Immortals, WrestleMania, and 20 times he’s had his hand raised in victory. Undertaker has faced some of the biggest names in WWE history, including Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Ric Flair, Edge, Kane, Batista, Randy Orton, and more, and always claimed their souls.

Now for the first time ever, every match in its entirety is collected in one release—Undertaker: The Streak. In addition to every match, the DVD also includes a never-before-seen documentary discussing the historic, unprecedented run.

The graphic below listing all of the matches in Undertaker’s streak was included in the press release. Oddly there are some discrepancies since Undertaker didn’t compete at WrestleMania 10, but faced King Kong Bundy at WrestleMania 11, and Diesel at WrestleMania 12.

This error will of course have no bearing on the finished product come July.

  3. Rip says:

I hope the marketing morons wake up and do something really special with this DVD. Lets put an exclusive action figure inside or a bonus DVD or a photo album of somekind, hell even the best of the Undertaker in WWF/E Magazine would be good including the covers. But, its just me over thinking what might be a worthy collectable. Sad but true! Cheers!

  7. TheDeadMan says:

it would be nice to see a documentary on mark callway and his early years in wrestling as the executioner and his tag team stint as the new high towers also his reaction to faker taker

  8. Anonymous says:

i feel they should be a doc on the undertaker but i hope this will have all hes mania match’s in full

  9. Dave says:

@nonymous yes Survivor Series is region free everything from Summer Slam to Survivor Series is. Just TLC went back to region blocked which sux. I just went to Best Buy and bougt TLC 2011 and Elimination Chamber 2012 on dvd and i picked up the Edge Story on Blu Ray. I will be watching that tonight after Smackdown Supershow. I pray the UK BD go back to region free fingers crossed or WWE starts selling them to the US i mean seriously already.

  10. Joe Israel says:

Have you heard anything about how many discs this set will be? To include every match in its entirety, I imagine it would have to be around 5 discs. The match from Wrestlemania 28 with entrances and post-match stuff alone was an hour long, and the previous 3 matches weren’t much shorter.

    • Daniel Bee says:

I wrote about it in this article, Joe.

“Information contained in a press release suggests the title will be a 4-Disc DVD and 3-Disc BD. It was however also just added to the schedule we have access to, listed as a 3-Disc DVD. The number of discs is unclear…”

      • Joe Israel says:

Clearly didn’t read that close enough, whoops.

I just can’t see how this all fits on 4 discs, but hopefully it works out. Its a really great idea for a new set.

  11. @imdjluis says:

TLC 2011 on Blu-Ray probably is presented at 50Hz, so a US BD player wouldn’t tell you that it’s a region problem. But it will work in a computer because pretty much any monitor will display 50/60Hz.

    • Dave says:

Most Blu-ray players (usually higher end) convert 50Hz to 60Hz.

I have an Oppo BDP-92 which is region free for DVD and Blu-ray by buying a mod kit that attaches to the USB port. All my tagged classics and region B WWE Blu-rays (Royal Rumble 2009 and Summerslam 2009) play perfectly with no lag that North American experience when they play PAL DVDs in NTSC. For Blu-rays however, PAL to NTSC is non-existent when connecting via HDMI.

It really depends on the Blu-ray/DVD player on how they convert, some do a better job than others.

  12. RabidHeat says:

Is it me, or could this ‘comprehensive’ set be a bit of a spoiler for the fact that the streak will probably end at ‘Mania 29? Lol.

  13. Steven says:

I was holding off not buying Elimination Chamber 2012 on DVD, since i was just going to get the Blu-ray from Amazon uk. But now since TLC is not region free, i highly doubt from TLC – onwards they would work on North American Blu-ray players.

  14. nightmare says:

If you are looking for only Undertaker bio than buy It’s my yard dvd it has the first and only Bio I know of the Deadman and is a must own .One of my favorite dvds I own and must for any Taker fan.It will cost you to buy it but it’s worth every penny and it’s only on dvd .

  15. Anonymous says:

Just wondering if the Survivor Series blu-ray is region free?

  16. nightmare says:

I buy this first day for sure not sure it I will get the dvd or blu ray

  17. SRB says:

Your main selling point here is the bio. When the DVD was first announced my advice was to skip it all together. With the biography (not too sure exactly what that means) this is for sure a purcahse that very well may be worth it and a culmination of all of Undertaker’s victories on the grandest stage is a good idea. Not that a biography has been announced this puts a whole different paint job on things.

    • WWESuperFan#1 says:

Read the synopsis. It says the bio will be on his historic run at WM. It won’t be a full bio on his entire career. The would put in there if it was about his entire career. The whole set is only covering “The Streak”

      • SRB says:

Yes, that part I understood. But, I did not understand the format, does that mean we get 5 minutes of conversation before each match? Does that mean we get an hour before the match section begins? Who knows?

        • WWESuperFan#1 says:

Probably like what we got with Starrcade. A documentary running under an hour covering the Streak and then all of his matches.
When WWE says documentary it is always a stand alone program. Its not considered a documentary when they have a short package or host inbetween matches

  18. Simon says:

I’m guessing that Silver Vision Blu Rays being region-free was a loophole, and as soon as WWE got wind of it (unfortunately, probably via this very site), they cracked down and put an end to it.

  19. Dave says:

Once again something was to good to last now it seems Silver vision is back to non region free BD cuz my TLC don’t work either. and this sux cuz now it’s back to buying crap dvd’s i think i’m just gonna stop buying WWE PPV if WWE can’t put BD in the US for there fans they don’t deserve another dime from my pocket time for a boycott on WWE PPV’s

  20. Jeffrey says:

I just received the TLC blu ray and it doesnt work in my blu ray player either

  21. Mark D says:

Taker absolutely deserves this set, it’s a day 1 pick up for me. I’d say he has at least another two sets in the future as well (a full blown documentary and a collection of unreleased matches).

  22. I’m starting to really like the sound of this DVD. It could actually ne a fantastic watch, at least we know that pretty much every match on the DVD is of great quality, and that the documentary should be superb too.

  23. Anonymous says:

Lets think logically here people. The synopsis says it is every one of his WrestleMania matches in its entirety and that the documentary will cover “this historic run”. Therefore the doc will only cover “The Streak”. This will not be a full bio piece on Taker, but just on his WM Streak.
When they do have a full bio piece the matches will of course cover his whole career.

  24. DrFever says:

I’ll pass, just because there will be more matches and some day the complete run of The Streak.

  25. captain planet says:

As long as the bio is strictly on the streak and not his actual career, that’s okay with me. I really hate that Shawn’s bio DVD is incomplete – Taker’s still got another few matches, probably. But a streak bio is definitely a good idea to commemorate the 20.

  26. Hitman316 says:

Didn’t they promise interviews and segments in 15-0 as well?

  27. Stacey John says:

Wish Owen Hart or Chris Benoit would of faced him at Wrestlemania so they would be forced to put them on DVD releases

  28. Charlie1185 says:

Even though I own all the manias, I will still likely purchase. Having all of his matches complete and in one set would be great and having a doc is just icing on the cake!

  29. Dave says:

@bowers right it shows up on the PS3 like it’s gonna work u hit play and the screen goes black then it goes back to the PS3 screen very weird. I’m super pissed i thought all the WWE PPV BD from the UK would work fine. Survivor Series was the last to work i guess there back to being blocked. I wonder if Elimination Chamber 2012 will be blocked or region free? idk if i want to take the chance on buying it and getting the same results as TLC

  30. Harry Faversham says:

The Undertaker set sounds very cool. If there’s a documentary it will be interesting to see how they handle it. If Undertkaer is involved, if he is in character, or just voice overs in between chapters and whether they cover his whole career or just the story behind the Wrestlemania matches.

  31. NWO 4 Life says:

That would be wild if he lost in a TLC match or if they bring back Money in the Bank match at Mania29.

  32. bowers says:

Dave, I purchased TLC 2011 as well, and it doesn’t play in my PS3 either, weird thing is it doesn’t tell you why (like if it was region blocked)

  33. Dave says:

Sorry to be off topic but i just got my TLC 2011 Blu Ray from Amazon.uk and it dose not work on my US Blu Ray player. This is the first Blu Ray that didnt work. All the Blu Ray’s from Summerslam on all worked fine. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with the TLC 2011 BD.
