February 12, 2012 by Daniel Bee

Following the reveal of a Best of WCW Clash of the Champions DVD set incoming for May 2012, Dusty Rhodes also confirmed the release on his Twitter account yesterday.

DustyWWE: Big DVD on the way!!

DustyWWE: Clash !

InZachWeTrust: We knows it’s a Clash of the Champions DVD no need to drop hints idiot.

DustyWWE: @InZachWeTrust Dumb ass.

DustyWWE: Some real dumb tweeties, but 90 out of 100 u guys make me feel good !

His tweets back in December and January, shown below, revealed that he was involved with a new WWE DVD project in the works and that he’d be hosting it.

DustyWWE: Wwe new DVD work next week!
Also network shoot same day let u no later what be up.

Slackslick: What DVDS did you do interviews for Dusty?

DustyWWE: Host new DVD , tell u later.

DustyWWE: No Legends house for me !! No please stop asking,
Just finished DVD work for WWE.

Looks to us like the second Rock/WrestleMania 28 video package which aired on this week’s Smackdown is essentially a preview of The Epic Journey of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson DVD and a good snapshot of what you can expect to see.

The documentary of “Epic Journey” is confirmed via BBFC to last 1hr 55mins in total. The full DVD looks to have a runtime of just under 7 hours, and the Blu-ray editon has approximately 1hr 30mins of extra content on top of this.

Rock’s DVD hits stores on February 21st, and will then be released to the UK in March.

man im so excited i cant wait

  2. Chris S says:

If matches are so important, just pick up is previous release…this is mostly for the documentary. The Rock’s WWE career has been inactive for 7 years and was basically on/off from 2001/2002…so basically they had 96-00, which i believe is fairly balanced in his 2008 release.

Practically all his matches from 2001-2004 have been released in the past

  3. SRB says:

@Anonymous, 100% agreed. It’s The Rock for God sakes! Not Butch Reed.

  4. Anonymous says:

The Rock had a great career and after his first 2 years RARELY had a truly bad match. There’s tons and tons of great Rock promos and matches, bottom line this set could have been longer and more importantly better.

  5. Dave says:

    @ Marco

The $27.99 is the Blu-ray version…they had the same thing for the Rock…then they updated it once the information came out.

Amazon is known for these mistakes initially.

  6. matthew S says:

I cant wait for Clash of the Champions, this is one set that they can do do volumes on. I just wish the WWE would do more than one WCW DVD a year.

  7. Marco says:

Are you sure about that Clash Blu Ray? Because Amazon doesn’t have a Blu Ray up for pre-order. What they have listed on their homepage is a DVD for 20.99 and another DVD (!) for 27.99! Both are supposed to run 540 min. Just saying! Might as well be a mistake by Amazon to list one upcoming DVD set twice. At least don’t get too excited yet.

  8. Bill says:

That jackass should be honored that Dusty even bothered to respond to his tweet

  9. SRB says:

@SRB… I hear you. I remember when I was growing up and discs were actually filled to the rim with footage. SRB, Now you can barely get even 2 hours worth of content on a single disc. There’s no reason for that. And also, SRB, WWE is not using their space properly. SRB. It has to do with the push of blu rays, not with the space allotted. SRB.

  10. straightedge47 says:

@SRB- the content is short on all DVDs that have a Blu Ray released with them, it’s so they can fit all the 3 disks of content on a 2 disk Blu Ray set and still give the Blu Ray some extras.

  11. Vincenzzzzzo says:

    @SRB

Well, I think because people always complain about repeats and all. I don’t really know what WWE can put on the new Rock DVD that hasn’t already been released on his 2 or 3 previous sets. If you own the previous sets, then you should have everything your looking for from the Rock.

  12. Vincenzzzzzo says:

I really can’t stand people on the internet. Why do people feel the need to disrespect Legends and others on the internet? So corny.

I’m really getting pumped for the Clash of the Champions blu-ray set. I enjoy WCW dvd sets. I didn’t become a fan of WCW until after they closed lol.

  13. scsa says:

    I agree.

  14. SRB says:

Im really not too sure why the content for this DVD is so short. Is WWE really out of footage/promos and interviews for The Rock? For such an epic release and epic comeback you would think there would be more content and more reasons to buy this set. The full DVD has a run time of under 7 hours??? Really? It’s The Rock! No excuse for this WWE
