The Biggest Matches in ECW History revealed this week for DVD and Blu-ray in 2012 now looks to be fully confirmed. Following the news, Joey Styles sent out this tweet:
Coming this summer, a home video release unlike any other you have seen before. Please RT and spread the word of Extreme. #ECWDVD
We’re waiting on the North American schedule to update so we can get confirmation on the domestic release date.
WWE DVD collectors from UK/Europe are in luck! Silver Vision have added 28 new titles to their current sale at this link. Those join the other DVD and Blu-ray items currently on sale.
Silver Vision also now have WrestleMania 28 available to pre-order, indicating that the European market will get a 3 Disc DVD and a 3 Disc Blu-ray edition. As we revealed recently, the USA will also get it on 3 Disc DVD, but instead a 2 Disc Blu-ray edition.

Vincenzzzzzo
Well when I know what’s on it I’ll know whether I’ll want to buy it. I said I think the DVD could be awesome. I even wrote a little list, but you obviously didn’t read it. We’ll have to wait and see. If I don’t like it I won’t buy it! Its probably pointless to speculate but I’m sorry mate I thought thats what the comments bit was for. But for your information I don’t give a fuck what is ‘cool’ but I’m sure it doesn’t have anything to do with how many zzzzzzzzz’s you put in your name. Sozzers, is that too negative? I’m sure the ECW 3 disc DVD will be lovely with big fluffy bunnys and the sun shning out of your ears. I am so looking forward to it. You hipster you!
@Harry Faversham
You know what? if it’s the “same old shit” then don’t buy it. It’s really that simple. Some of you people are so negative about everything. It doesn’t make you “cool”….trust me.
There are TONS of great matches/moments in WWE’s library from just about every company. I’m glad they are taking advantage of their acquisitions and starting to distribute more from the vault. Looking forward to this ECW release.
If its the top 25 matches you would think they are all out on DVD by now. But maybe thats just a bullshit tile and it is just a way of getting more material out there. Off the top of my head I’d like to see
RVD vs. Taz (November to Remember 1999),
RVD vs. Rhyno (Anarchy Rulz 2000)
RVD vs. Scotty Anton (with the first Van Terminator)
RVD vs. Lance Storm (Guilty As Charged 1999)
RVD vs. Sabu (Wrestlepalooza 1998)
It goes against what I said before but to be honest another RVD set would be nice because his last one didnt cover much of his career after ECW at all and there is plenty more from ECW too it seems.
The more I think about it this DVD could be awesome. Depends who they put on it. I’d like to see Raven get a bit more appreaciation this time around and if its done right little things like that could make it quite special. Love Sabu too.
I don’t really agree that ECW had the impact that many people say, but its fun to watch and thats what counts.
I re-read the synopsis, seems like theyre sticking with only ECW matches since they say ECW ran until 2001
There are a lot of matches that haven’t been released on dvd yet. As small as ECW was, WWE saved themselves by copying them in the mid to late 90’s. I’m happy another one is being released.I still think WWE should just release old PPVs of ECW, WCW and WWF as tagged classics like they have in the UK.
I like ECW and I don’t mind repeat matches so long as they tell the story of the particular DVD subject. What does bother me is if they have already had their story told then it shouldnt be told again. They did an excellent job on the the first two and I feel that other parts of wrestling history have been neglected whilst they are covering old ground. But I guess it comes down to what will sell and business is business. No doubt I’m in the minority but I would like to see big career pieces on Rick Rude, Andre The Giant and Davey Boy Smith. But a lot of us sound like a broken record saying things like that. Perhaps promoting deceased wreslers isnt as good for business and maybe they aren’t big names anymore. I like Joey Styles but what he’s said there is simply promotion. I’ve noticed wwe quite often says ‘for time ever on dvd’ for the hell of it, even if its not true. Again business is business.
@Harry. I was actually laughing out loud on this one. I do/did enjoy ECW, but who does Styles and Heyman think they are? Bischoff said it best in the Rise and Fall of ECW DVD. “ECW was nowhere near being a top contendor as the #1 wrestling company.” I agree, taking it beyond 2001 would be a slap in the face and would ruin the set.
‘A home video release unlike any other you have seen before’. I highly doubt that. For a company that was around less than 10 years its already had plenty of dvd releases. This will be the same old shit. But it will sell anyway because everyone misses the real ECW. I hope they dont take it beyond 2001 this time.
