Unless WWE starts releasing PPV’s on Blu-ray here in the US, I probably will no longer purchase them because of WWE Network. The PPV’s on the Network look so good in HD.
Yeah, same with me. I’m really only going to be purchasing the PPVs they release on Blu-ray.
Elimination Chamber will also be on the VOD section this Friday according to reports. Its also going to be in HD which is useless to get on DVD since its HD downscaled to SD.
I don’t own a single PPV on blu-ray, but have up to the final one in 2012 on DVD. I could never get used to some of my PPV collection on BD and others on DVD
Yeah I actually didn’t have a chance to watch Elimination Chamber this year, so I’m looking forward to catching it on the Network finally.
I know what you mean, SRB. Especially when its the same PPV and they release it on different formats each year. I have Elimination Chamber 2011 and 2013 on Blu-ray, and 2012 on DVD. I can’t stand that.
Kmart has had elimination chamber out for awhile already..I picked up a copy last Friday
Sends us some pics of it, if you like. 🙂
I’m pretty sure Walmart or Kmart. Had elimination chamber on their shelves already I could be mistaken.
I can’t wait to pick up the Warrior dvd.
Five things really stand out from those sales figures:
1) Mid South selling so well proves there’s still a big market for 1980s wrestling. Just imagine how many more units they could sell of Mid Atlantic/Jim Crockett Promotions who presented a similar product with virtually all of the industry’s top stars in their prime.
2) Goldberg selling as much as it did proves the staying power of WCW in the DVD market.
3) ECW sets are finally bottoming out. That coupled with the fact that they had to use multi-generational footage of the Anderson/Funk vs. Sabu/Eaton match should spell the end of ECW themed releases as the market is drying up as quickly as the unreleased ECW footage.
4) Biography releases are slowly being eclipsed by match compilation sets.
5) DVD sets with primarily unreleased matches sell better than those featuring plenty of repeats. The only release to buck that trend was the 50 Year History of WWE. How many of those can you make in a year? Exactly. Once every 50 years.
I still don’t understand why WWE only mentions the number of DVDs that were shipped. That means nothing. The number of DVDs that actually sold is the real number that means something. Shipped just means the amount of copies that were sent to retailers.
I hope they put matches on the back of the WrestleMania DVD
