For close to a decade, professional wrestling fans loved Clash of the Champions, a series of supercards that aired on TBS, featuring the biggest stars of first NWA and the WCW. Over the course of 35 events from 1988 through 1997, fans were treated to championship contests, grudge matches, and spectacular moments. Many of these matches have never been released on home video until now.
The Best of the Clash of the Champions, hosted by 3-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Hall of Famer, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, will highlight some of the greatest matches in the event’s ten-year history and features fan favorites Ric Flair, Sting, The Road Warriors, Lex Luger, the Four Horsemen, the nWo, and so many more.

I’m really starting to build my WWE blu ray collection nicely, and I cannot wait to ad WCW Clash of the Champions to the collection. I am really liking the slip covers too! I like the one that came on the WM28 blu ray as well.
This is a release i will jump on. While this matches are dated, most are new to dvd. As of late, many of the WWE dvd releases include far too many previously released matches. Another reason I anticipate this release is that the NWA match quality was far superior to the WWF’s during the late ’80’s. Check out Sting vs. Flair on “The Clash” dvd set if you are unaware of this.
This is one dvd I will pass on just not into all these old matches
Where are these pics from? Did a store put this out for sale early?
I assume that the Walmart exclusive Blu Ray WILL NOT have the bonus content but the DVD will correct?
Correct…it sucks, i’m purchasing the Blu-ray, don’t think it’s worth $20 just to get two matches.
slipcase and match listing insert! sweet!
Slipcase – yes, but the matches are printed on the reverse of the front insert; under the discs (you couldn’t see it through the blue plastic so I removed it for the pic). Sorry.
Ahh. oh well, a few trees saved. what other Blu rays have had slips? Mania 27 & 28 are the only ones I know of
That’s dumb; and still no java on WWE 2012 Blu Rays which causes the whole disc to re-start every time you turn off your Blu Ray player. I love how 2011 WWE Blu Rays had java and didn’t cause this but 2012 doesn’t have this, Way to go backwards WWE! Maybe in 2013 they will go back to releasing VHS.
Why is ventura’s comm. cut out?
Everytime they use Ventura’s commentary he will receive royalties. When cutting his commentary, WWE would avoid giving him a cut of the sales.
wow, Ive never heard about that. kinda blows. music edits are bad enough without editing commentary too. but I’d rather that than not have the matches at all
Yes unfortunately Jesse’s commentary has been cut out, along with Michael Buffer’s ring introduction, at least on the Flair/Arn vs. Hollywood Blonds match. 🙁
Looks pretty darn cool. One thing I don’t like is why did WWE have to copy the blue bar from the front to the back.
I doubt WWE would bother to do a HD transfer. Also don’t know if tape can be used to make HD.
I see the footage hasn’t been touched up for the Blu-ray.
Is Ventura’s commentary left intact?
No but they got Jason Sensation to redub all of it.
Are you serious? they re-dubbed the commentary?
Don’t listen to StingaLing, they didn’t redub, they muted Ventura’s commentary though.
That is actually a GREAT idea! They should do that, lol!
That’s awesome they need to do slipcovers for all there blu rays this would have been great for Randy Orton.
More slipcases please.
