The side bars are the best I think they make the older footage look better. Lovin all the ecw DVDs wwe makes. DVD is also way better than blu ray aswell it’s just another excuse to charge more for two extra matches and no art work. I don’t care about better picture quality I just care about the wrestling quality. Fuck that technical bullshit.

  2. Harry Faversham says:

I really like the artwork and especially the disc art. Having a letter on each disc is a very nice touch.

  3. Anonymous says:

Sick as hell thats all I can say

  4. frank d says:

i cant wait to get it.

  5. Losse Cannon says:

I agree WWE needs to up there blu ray packaging. i love the dvd packaging but am a blu ray fan. maybe they should start making there blu ray’s in there dvd style packaging that would be great. buying blu ray over dvd you get more footage but loose out on packaging. also having the match list behind each disc was brilliant. don’t know how anyone don’t like that idea. if ur gonna watch that disc u see whats on it underneath great idea if u ask me. and love the art work just a mess just Like ECW very cool. this was very well put together as far as packaging. but i have the same question for the blu ray how can u spell out E C W on only 2 disc’s?

  6. Dave says:

Nice packaging! I noticed on the back it mentions that WWE legally prohibited ECW from televising Dreamer’s title win against Taz…what was that about? was it because Taz was still with WWE? but were both companies on good terms with each other?

I guess that explains why Cyber Sunday 2000 has yet to be released on DVD by RF Video and Delta. I read that is one of the most request show.

    • shacmasta says:

That was when Mike Awesome Jumped ship to WCW and WWE allowed Taz to work for Ecw, and beat Awesome for the title. Basically meaning a WCW worker wrestled a WWE worker at an ECW Show. He held it for a little over a week and wrestled on WWE tv with it against Triple H. He finally lost it to Tommy Dreamer (who then lost it on the same night to Justin Credible) . . . As for them not allowing them to show it? Because Ecw was still another promotion, WWE wouldn’t allow them to show footage of Taz. It’s similar to what TNA does with ROH, when their talent work ROH house shows those wrestlers are never on their dvd’s or etc.

    • Anonymous says:

I’ve always wondered. How does RF Video get away with that without being sued by WWE?

      • Dave says:

Always wondered that too, but from what i’ve read RF Video had a deal with Paul Heyman to distribute ECW tapes for many years…and now they are only converting their master copies to DVD, they can only re-release their archives and nothing new.

Its kind of a confusing situation since WWE bought all of ECW ‘s intellectual property and video library, RF Video shouldn’t be allowed to sell them, but maybe WWE doesn’t care.

        • Mark D says:

RF signed a deal with ECW back in the day that they would have the rights to release ECW footage in perpetuity. It has been rumoured that the deal was written in such a way that it would have made more sense for it to be wrote after ECW’s demise but this have never actually been confirmed. So because of this deal WWE can’t do anything about it – I would venture to guess that they have tried to block RF with no success.

    • neverAcquiesce says:

Obviously Vince was fine with showing a WWF guy beating a WCW guy, but didn’t want that same WWF wrestler to look bad by losing the ECW World Championship a week later. Still, they jobbed him badly to Triple H, the WWF Champion, during the one week he held the title, but that’s Vince logic for ya.

  7. captain planet says:

They really need to put this kind of effort in their BR releases. I love how this whole set looks. The ECW disc letters are VERY cool.

  8. Not bad, would have preferred if the contest listing was where Tazz & Sabu are, not that crazy about putting it under each disc

    • StingaLing says:

That’s Shane Douglas, not Sabu. Just to let you know. Douglas is getting his due with this set, it’s about time.

      • LP1 says:

@StingaLing, that IS Sabu that Taz is fighting in the picture that Joseph De Feo was referring to. Douglas is in the picture next to them.

        • StingaLing says:

…well if he was only referring to the Taz pic it’s a pretty small space to squeeze that match listing.

Still glad to see Douglas getting respect from the WWE.

          • I’m sorry about my Shane Douglas oversight. I took a quick glance at the artwork & I didn’t think it would fit in the Tazz/Sabu area, put some where Shane Douglas is also. WWE could have easily put those 3 behind each of the discs. Thanks to LP1 for backing me up on the earlier comment

  9. NickP says:

I have a 50 Inch Plasma and the picture for WWE dvds is just fine

  10. Anonymous says:

    awesome ECW

  11. Vincenzzzzzo says:

Each disc of the DVD version says “E” “C” “W”…. Whats my bluray version gonna have on the discs… “E” and “C”? :/

    • Anton says:

And that’s why DVD is better than Blu Ray

      • Bryan says:

agreed as far as wrestling is concerned if all your footage for a set isn’t from the HD era on it’s useless to buy the blu ray

      • neverAcquiesce says:

No. I’ve watched both, and mid-90s footage on Blu-ray looks better than HD footage on DVD.

        • Bryan says:

maybe for WWE/WWF but come on man you saw the cameras ECW used back in the day and the lighting it wasn’t exactly high dollar stuff I doubt you’ll be able to get old ECW footage to ever look pristine of better on Blu Ray

  12. StingaLing says:

The only bummer is The Night The Line Was Crossed Three Way Dance is blu ray only. I wonder if the awesome promos after the match will be included?

  13. Mark D says:

Looks good! The first 3 Disc ECW set – folks make sure you buy it if you want Vol. 2, 3, 4….
Can’t wait to watch Tommy Dreamer vs. Tazz (yeah I used two z’s because this was WWE’s Tazz). ๐Ÿ™‚

  14. SRB says:

I really dig the content behind the discs. nice job there and the artwork, although nice is a total violent mess, just like ECW was. nice work.

    • SRB says:

Lets also keep in mind the title states, “Vol. 1” So it will be an interesting site to see if wwe continues this set or stops it like most other series attempts.

  15. Simon says:

To all those who say 4:3 WWE DVDs look poor on Widescreen TVs, I couldn’t disagree more. I’ve been doing exactly that since 1999, and the picture quality is great. I can only imagine it being a problem if you’ve got a 50″ plasma (which I assume most people don’t).

  16. RabidHeat says:

I just want to know if all matches have the ratio bars. If so, it’s kinda pointless and I won’t be purchasing. If ever a DVD now needed to be presented in 4:3, it’s this one. I don’t want the matches to suffer the bars just so Joey Styles hosting can be shown full screen.

    • #WWFTaggedClassicsUKExclusive... says:

The DVD Will have the Ratio bars on the side of the footage Unfortuantly as its being released on blu-ray and to concide with Widescreen HDTV’s so the footage can fit and not be stretched out, if it was just being released on dvd they wouldn’t have been a problem but the WCW nitro DVD also had the Ratio Bars on the side of the footage yet that was only released on DVD but like i said lot of people have HDTV’s and WWE dont want the footage to be stretched and to be honest if the image is full screen you get much more pixellation on screen as its old footage and by having the ratio bars the footage doesn’t become pixelated and stretched and instead you will be focusing watching the footage on the middle of the screen if you get where im coming from.
This shouldnt really be released on Blu-ray and Just on DVD like the WCW Nitro DVD im sure you could fit the exlusive blu-ray footage on the DVD but im a big fan of WWE Blu-rays so i dont mind but i love the artwork on the DVD.

    • Anonymous says:

people need to realize that the bars are NEVER going away. With the advent of HDTV everything produced going forward will be made for widescreen viewing. It’s not going to change, no matter how much you all complain

    • Guest says:

All WWE dvds have both a 16:9 and a 4:3 image these days. Just change your dvd players output to 4:3 to remove those side bars.

      • LP1 says:

The sidebar thing is a dumb complaint. The majority of people these days have HDTVs which means you can adjust the setting to eliminate the sidebars by pressing a butting on your remote. Problem solved.

        • LP1 says:

          *by pressing a button

          • #WWFTaggedClassicsUKExclusive... says:

Just click on Menu on your DVD remote and choose a Option were it will give picture thing, from there there will be list of options like e.g stretch original 16:9 auto etc but to remove the side bars just choose zoom and it will zoom the picture and remove the sidebars i sometimes do this on WWE blu-rays were they have older match footage ๐Ÿ˜‰

  17. Marco says:

Man, I loved their show on Sci-Fi!

  18. StingaLing says:

    Once again, can’t fucking wait!

  19. matt says:

    E-C-W! E-C-W! E-C-W!
