WWEDVDNews.com has learned that the FYE (Trans World Entertainment) retail chain in the United States may soon cease stocking WWE DVD titles altogether in their stores.
The recent lack of FYE exclusive WWE DVD releases, marked down DVD prices, “buy 1 get 1 free” sale and general low stocks of each new WWE DVD (e.g. 2-3 units per store) are all signs that point towards this being the case.
Speaking with Danny Gowen at WWEDVDNews, a region manager of FYE suggested the chain no longer want to be known for or associated with selling wrestling DVDs, and that it is these titles in addition to the animation genre which they want to move away from. Instead focusing their attention on more typically mainstream entertainment titles such as major movies. The source gave the impression this will be the same for all of the FYE stores across the USA.
The reduced coverage is also evident in some K-Mart stores also, where WWE DVDs are being sent back from the stores and in some instances these outlets have not been stocking new titles since the last major release of WWE WrestleMania 26 on DVD.

the buy one get one free sale is over aug 30th, so the sale is not going forever. it was labeled as a back to school sale but its really to reduce the stock of wrestling dvds. as far as tna dvds, i really dont think there worth more then $10 any way. the reason fye is a little high on prices is because they are loctated in malls, every thing in a mall is more cause of the mall rent. but the older selection they have is very nice, all the other stores send the older release back after a certain time. to most people this well be a big loss, for the ones it wont be then go some ware else. its not like just because YOU are not shopping there they are losing money.
This Really SUCKS!!!! I just discovered the FYE store in my neighborhood and was left amazed at the wwe dvds they had to offer. I was hoping to go there for older dvds and to Best Buy for the new releases. This is really disappointing.
I can actually confirm this. FYE is getting rid of Wrestling DVDs. For WWE, Buy 1 Get 1, for TNA they have all DVDs for 7.99 & 9.99. I also talked to an employee. Fuck FYE!
FYE fucks me over
your right but the issue is that its a loss for us the fans that buy the dvds. choice is a god given right and to reduce this choice is bad times, plus less exclusives has got to be bad for us to
FYE’s business model is to take the prices of every other retail store and add $5 to it. You can find bigger selections of DVDs for far less money pretty much ANYwhere else. This isn’t really a loss for WWE.
well eric unless you live in some back woods area of the usa then there should be an fye in the area. best buy, kmart, walmart, and fye are the main stores that sell wwe dvds. they are a MAJOR retail seller of wwe dvds with all the exclusives they offer compared to the others. while amazon is ok, most people would rather walk into a store and leave with a dvd in there hand compared to paying for it then waiting up to a week for the amazon seller to get off there but and shop it out. not to mention the chance of the lame usps postal workers that dont know how to handle packages and have the chance of the thing getting damaged on the way to your house. also the fact that fye usually keeps a larger selection of wwe dvds in stock compared to the other stores that just keep the latest releases in stock.
Retail chains, for the most part, can’t compete with amazon. This is not really a surprise. Wasn’t really aware they were a “major” retail chain though. Not much presence in this area.
FYE charged way too much for wrestling dvds, that may be a major reason for the decline in sales. I will always shop around or take advantage of wwe.com packages as well. this news seems long coming to be honest.
see what happens, WWE, when ur product sucks? Retailers wanna distance themselves from it..
Thats sucks, I get my new dvds at walmart, and old dvds at FYE
