As you know by now, WWE are including Ring of Honor footage in the upcoming CM Punk: Best in the World DVD (buy it).

This week WWEDVDNews.com had a chance to watch the 2-hour documentary in advance of the October 9th release. Look out for our review on the way soon – but until then – here’s an exclusive sneak peek at the ROH content.

The “Best in the World” documentary contains a chapter dedicated to CM Punk’s time in Ring of Honor, which runs approximately 10 minutes. As shown in the shots above, Punk visits the ROH wrestling academy and gives his thoughts on his tenure in the promotion. Most of the chapter is made up of flashbacks using ROH owned footage, and a few stills. Specifically it covers some of his “hard hitting” mic work there, his feud with Raven, his series with Samoa Joe (which gets a fairly long video package), his final promos (including signing his WWE contract in a ROH ring), and a look at his farewell match with Colt Cabana.

  1. Brad Attitude says:

no point getting Worst in the World when his time in ROH is given 10 fkn minutes.

    • Duncan says:

How old are you? Seriously, “Worst in the World” is your insult for Punk? Sit down and let the grown ups talk.
Anyway, the fact that WWE is actually letting Punk show footage from his dreaded indy days is incredible. Alot of his best work came there, and I love the whole concept of how far he’s come.
I saw another short clip of Paul Heyman and Miz talking about his time in OVW, and that was awesome as well.
Indy guys ALWAYS have the best stories of how they make it. Cannot wait for whenever they decide to make Daniel Bryan’s, but I definately am buying CM Punk’s as soon as it comes out here.

      • Brad Attitude says:

CM Punk is far from being the “best in the world”. His limited wrestling style in a WWE ring does not make him the best. I have yet to see the Pepsi Plunge from the top rope. Brock Lesnar wasn’t an indy wrestler and look at his career … He certainly has more of a story to tell than CM Chump.

WWE couldn’t even think of a good storyline for the CM Punk / Daniel Bryan fued. It amazes me how you can still watch the crap on TV these days.

        • Wirehead says:

What kind of storyline other than “Both guys have a great wrestling match” does Punk and Bryan need exactly? Or is your blind WWE hate just making you stupid?

          • Brad Attitude says:

guess you forgot the love angle they did with AJ a while back, or did that slip your mind due to your stupidity? these two may have been good in ROH but there’s nothing great about them in WWE … its still a crappy product.

            • Wirehead says:

Hey dumbass I didn’t forget about the AJ thing but how did that hurt the match quality at all? They had 3 fantastic PPV matches in a row and you are blind if you don’t see that.

And you further prove how idiotic you are when you whine about Punk not doing the Pepsi Plunge when HHH already has the pedigree as his finish and how the fans would have seen that as a rip off, plus Punk destroying his knees eventually. Bottom line is you are a mindless anti-WWE mark.

              • Brad Attitude says:

lol you call me blind when you’re the one watching the crap product it is today and calling three matches good when both guys are aren’t used to their full potential skillwise. at least i can see how terrible the product is and yet you continue to watch a kids show… dumb fool.

    • RabidHeat says:

You can actually show quite a lot in 10 minutes, you know. Considering it’s a WWE documentary, ten minutes of ROH content is incredible.

  2. ax3 says:

just wondering did sliver vision re-realse nwo back in black cuz i live i canda so i hav to buy dvds from sliver vision off ebay

    • Dave says:

Yea, they re-released it as Tagged Classics with Diesel and Razor Ramon compilations that were released in 94 and 95.

    • verrillo says:

hey dude, dont the silvervision dvds NOT work in canada? im also asking cause a few of there dvds interest me. lmk

      • Dave says:

If you have region free DVD/Blu-ray player they will work. Also they work on laptops and these days they come with HDMI so you can even hook it up to their TV.

I also live in Canada and its great having a region free player…I have all In Your House, Survivor Series 97/98 and 99/00, King of the Ring 93/94, 95/96, 97/98 and 99/00.

        • Anonymous says:

You must not like actually watching your DVDs because if you did there’s no way you wouldn’t be able to notice that horrible frame rate issue.

          • Dave says:

Actually, if you have a Blu-ray/DVD player that has great PAL to NTSC conversion the framerate issue like you say are non-existent.

BTW i have the Oppo BD-93 (google it)….its one of the best Blu-ray/DVD players in the market that actually has proper PAL to NTSC software that play flawlessly on my tv. Its not some cheap $40 dvd player which i now play like absolute crap.

      • Anonymous says:

If you’re in North America, stay away from Silvervision stuff because the framerate problem will make watching anything a real pain. I’d even suggest tracking down the old VHS before watching a SilverVision DVD and that’s assuming you can find a region-free player that’s actually very difficult to find in most Canadian cities.

        • verrillo says:

thanks alot guys, im considering the vhs also, its cus i have all the wrestlemania, summerslam, and royaal rumble dvds, same for survivor series, just need 97, 98, 99, 00, and 01, none were relieced on dvd, except 01, but its just very rare, or too expensive.

  3. Gonna have to get out my ROH DVD’s and watch tonight. Punk vs Joe, Punk vs AJ Styles, Second City Saints vs The Briscoes, and the original “Summer of Punk” are in my future. His WWE set should be very interesting. Can’t wait.

  4. SRB says:

This is what I always respect from WWE, when they need to they dont ignore other companies and realize the roots Punk came from. WWE is intelligent enough to think, “Without ROH we wouldnt have even been able to sign Punk.” They even reached out to TNA for the Horsemen induction. Smart and respectable moves by WWE.

  5. Vincenzzzzzo says:

I don’t care if your match goes on last, or first, on a PPV or TV show. When you’re the WWE Champion, you are the number 1 wrestler / top guy in the business. Looks like Punk did some interviews from the ROH facility for the DVD. Imagine Punk thinking back to the time he spent in that ROH ring, all the way to now being the #1 guy in this business.

  6. Platt says:

Well I’ll be damned I never thought I would ever see ROH footage on a WWE DVD nevermind my favourite promo of all time the Wrestlerave ’03 one.

  7. Anonymous says:

Ring of Honor is what ECW was in the 90s. There not trying to put WWE out of bussnes. Or trying to sue them over petty crap. So I think WWE is cool with them.

    • indyfan says:

For some reason some fans think just because theres another wrestling company.. they are going after WWE. LIKE OMG how can they start a wrestling promotion when WWE is still around. There’s plenty room for all companies. And if they aren’t going head to head on TV or PPVs, then they aren’t trying to put each other out of business.

      • Anonymous says:

I have to assume that the mindset of every company being out to run every other company out of business came from WWE itself. Yeah, WCW tried to put WWE out of business, and yeah TNA tries (and utterly fails) at competing with them, but if you look back through history, there used to be enough room for everyone under the territory system. And everyone accepted that. Aside from a couple of exceptions, no one tried to put anyone out of business.

And then Vince McMahon came along and started the whole promotions must be at war thing when he wiped out the entire system.

  8. Sergio says:

WWE is so good they dont even care to show other companies on their DVD like ROH.

  9. Sergio says:

    too bad ROH sucks now.

    • indyfan says:

Suck isn’t the word id use. They are a shell of their former selves. But they still can deliver great shows. BITW 2012 was great. They need Generico back ASAP!!!! And releasing guys like TJP and the Young Bucks and keeping Rhino and WGTT is retarded. And their buys are reflecting that

  10. rohfan says:

best thing about this is casual fans will see this and kids will see this and think hhmm that seems cool im gonna check out ROH and then be exposed to the best wrestling in the world and say screw this pg wwe kiddy crap so it may bite wwe in the end

    • indyfan says:

I doubt it would affect WWE at all. Its very cool that they were open to this. Punk really started a trend in WWE to actually look at the indys instead of relying on their developmental talent or ex football players. Sadly this also ruined the indy landscape( along with Gabes hatred for ROH now). From 2003-2008, The indies were on fire with ROH heading the pack. PWG still has amazing shows.

    • Sergio says:

lol at this ROH mark. he still thinks ROH is good. lol. ROH used to be good until all of their great talent left for other companies. WWE is amazing now too.

    • Sergio says:

ROH used to be good until all of their great talent left for other companies. WWE is amazing now but ROH has become so lame. almost as lame as TNA.

  11. Dave says:

wow! thats pretty damn cool…i’m sure ROH had no issues and probably never had a second thought in allowing WWE use their footage. Its practically giving ROH advertising and for fans to check out their product.

    Good move on WWE’s part.

    • indyfan says:

Back then, ROH were always happy to see one of their own get signed to WWE. ROH cares about the wrestling business with emphasis on wrestling and not the business side of things. If its good for the fans, they are always happy to oblige. But Sinclair ruined ROH. Either way , its cool that they focused on his match vs Joe.

  12. Dan Mader says:

I got chills from looking at these. I cannot imagine how the DVD will make me feel. Hopefully the documentary delivers to expectations.
