Here we are the 10th Fantasy Concept DVD and this one follows up on the fall 2009 release: Hulk Hogan’s Unreleased Collectors Series. I think this is a great concept and is especially good for the collectors – as all of the matches are new to DVD! So here we have: Bret “Hitman” Hart’s: Unreleased Collectors Series.
The format of this set should be similar to the Hulk Hogan release – however I would have Bret host the set and introduce and provide background to the matches. Here are the matches which I think should be included on this set:

It’s great to hear your feedback, so please sound off in the comments below!
You can follow me on Twitter: @_MarkD_. I’m also looking for suggestions for future concepts.
As much as I hate Bret Hart and everything to do with him, still would be a great set to buy with all the unreleased, especially the South Africa match with SCSA!
Im glad the tag match Bret had against my dad Troy Alexander is mentioned. Great match list.
YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!
Great match list although I’d replace the WCW ones because of Bret’s feelings towards his run there. And I feel the same way he does. However, if one or two WCW bouts was to be featured, I’d have Sting vs Bret from Halloween Havoc 98.
Mark I Agree That’ll be cool nice ork on this one!!!
@Phil O Get over what?! I only made a suggestion! Why do people suddenly turn to tough guy bully-boys when they’re typing on the Internet? I haven’t done anything wong to you whatsoever. Don’t tell me to get over anything, just like you never would in real life.
Does anyone know for sure whether wwe owns the Terry Funk’s Wrestlefest? I know ECW released it on video back in the day but I’m not sure if they actually own it. I don’t think it actually counts as ECW as it was just Terry Funk’s tribute show and since he was working with them just before he retired heyman must have been involved quite a bit. But it would be cool to say Bret had one match against Funk in ECW. They didnt actually promote it as ECW but it was on ECW home video, so who knows?
Another good concept, would be another greatest stars. They did one for the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s, and another great edition would be the Greatest Stars of the 70’s. Guys like Bruno Sammartino, Pedro Morales, Andre the Giant, Bob Backlund, Superstar Billy Graham, Ric Flair, Harley Race, the Valiants, Peter Maivia, Don Leo Jonathan, Ken Patera, Stan Stasiak, Luke Graham, the Spoiler, Gorilla Monsoon, Sonny King, Dusty Rhodes, Nick Bockwinkel, etc, plus the match selection would be awesome.
Those 27-Matches are awesome wwe Please We are pegeing You to please get another bret hart dvd featurin the final 4 for wwe title Hitman vs vader vs undertaker vs stone cold.
i would like to see a new dvd of bret hart like this
with the same listing this need to be sent to wwe dvd
I also remove one of the matches for Bret Hart vs. Isaac Yankem
from Raw Oct 1995 in the steel cage match where Lawler was rised
above the ring.
I caught the Nitro tag Mark listed (Hart/Hogan-Sting/Warrior) on YouTube and quite frankly, I’ve seen way worse matches of any of those guys. Warrior was only in it at the end, but the other three more than carried their end of it. Bret was really fun as a heel at the time.
Someone mentioned the Luger US title exchanges, and while I love your listing Mark, I do agree that it’s one thing I would exchange for. I recall Bret really getting some good matches out of Luger considering Luger was a mess at the time. I dunno, call me a mark for what I consider an underrated heel run for Bret in late 98 in WCW.
@Mark D Yeah, but in the same token, the Bret DVD WOULD be released worldwide, which would mean it didn’t actually contain “unreleased” stuff in some countries. I’m just sayin’, with so many matches out there, you may as well pick a couple in place of those that aren’t available on DVD anywhere, then every country is happy. 🙂 And it would be kind of mis-advertising for the UK released to say ‘Unreleased’ if it had the same match-listing.
You should do one on Shawn Michaels, WWE needs to release one last HBK set with more DX matches from 97 on it.
That listing is AMAZING! …too bad the E doesn’t put this much effort into the real releases.
Seriously, you should be proud of this!
hey mark do one about ric flair
AWESOME, RALLY TO THE WWE TO GET IT DONE
Would be sick! But WWE would rather release Warrior vs Hogan for the 95th time on DVD rather then give us anything new or never released.
@Supersonic I did look at the Iron Man matches but I don’t believe that any of them exsist in WWE’s Library. Also what filler? The only filler I think is Bad News at WrestleFest – however I felt that it was important as it was Bret’s first fued as a singles star in WWE.
@Marty I believe that Bret does own his own and Owen’s footage from Stampede (I’m not 100%) but I think WWE could work something out to included the matches here.
@RabidHeat I don’t really count the Tagged Classics as full releases, as they aren’t available worldwide.
How could I also forget:
Bret vs. Diesel – KOTR 1994
Get rid of some of the filler, and include the following:
KOTR ’93 against Razor Ramon (Bret gushed over it in his documentary)
the Iron Man matches against Flair and Owen
Really late reply, but another great fantasy concept Mark! Excellent layout of matches. Do you know offhand if Bret still owns the Stampede footage consisting of himself?
Superb concept. I do think they should do this for more stars. And I love how you used the original text font for the title; makes it seem like the second voilume in a series after the Hogan set.
The only niggle is that the vs. Bad News Brown ‘WrestleFest’ match and the vs. Diesel ‘In Your House’ match have been released on the Tagged Classics series so this wouldn’t be a set of matches that have been unreleases totally i.e. worldwide (and many American fans might have imported these sets also) so maybe to stretch the ‘Unreleased’ factor a little further those could be replaced with a couple of rarer matches? Just a thought.
But I know it’s a pain for the US fans that these matches aren’t widely available and I do feel for you. I took all my Tagged Classics over a friend in the States once and he was so jealous when he saw that we get them, lol.
Hell yeah this is an amazing fantasy cover!! Looks so legit!
Ooops, apparently Bret hurt his groin and that match and had some heat with Dean because of it…*reminder to research before I post*
Great job Mark, would be an instant buy from me.
Also, Bret Hart vs. Dean Malenko from Nitro would be a nice addition to this (or any) set.
You are really good at these covers and conceptual ideas, man. This is one of my favorite features on this site. 🙂
YOU CAN’T LEAVE OFF HIS TWO U.S TITLE MATCHES VS LEX LUGER, AND HIS MATCH WHERE HE LOST THE U.S TITLE TO ROWDY RODDY PIPER ON NITRO. FORGOTTEN CLASSICS THAT SHOULD’VE BEEN ON DVD LONG LONG AGO.
Perfect man! Another amazing concept! :)))
Oh, that’s just awesome work.
May I request you do one for Ravishing Rick Rude & with a match listing?
The set looks great, and no Dave. l didn’t even know that match happened! l’m pretty sure it was a classic knowing the chemistry those 2 had inside the squared circle.
i’d really like to see bret hart vs. chris benoit for the wcw title at mayhem 1999 😉 😉 … british bulldogs vs. hart foundation from WM3, bret hart vs. diesel from king of the ring ’94.
but overall, great cover artwork pal.
Thanks for the great feedback 🙂
This was going to be last weeks fantasy concept – but I pulled it at the last minute and put up the 50 Matches!
I see you noticed that I listed Shawn and Macho Man on the back but no matches. The cover was completed prior to the matches, I thought about changing it, but decided to leave it in homage to previous WWE DVD snafus 😉
In regard to the match selection – its really tough cutting the list down to a set which would actually fit on 3 discs (I normally end with about 8 discs worth of matches! Some make the cut and others don’t.
The critera for the set was that none of the matches I included have EVER been released on DVD by WWE which was why the first WWE Title win was excluded, for example. However you guys listed some great matches here – all I can say is… Blu-Ray extras! 😉
I LOVE IT!!! You did such as great job with this one. I say send it off to WWE and MAKE them release this art work and all the matches you have listed on it. PERFECT!!!!!
I read there is an Owen Hart vs. Bret Hart 60 minute Iron Man Match from a house show in Boston around 94-95…i think there is only fancam footage…anyone know if this was actually filmed?
I feel like we could sit here all day and fantasize about the matches that really need to be here. They are countless. Bret was one of the best in ring technicians of all time. The man was a surgeon when it came to mat work. Very few names can stand next to his, but I would say HBK, Flair, Mr. Perfect and Rick Rude are a few. As far as talent and intelligence these guys have it all and for me personally you could release countless sets on them and it would never get old. One of the main reasons is because how they were used and how long they stuck around. Obviously and no disrespect, but guys like Edge are just not in this category. Perhaps that’s a bold statment, but the title meant much more on guys like Bret and HBK. We can all agree that a 3 disc on Bret, HBK or Flair really doesn’t do their careers justice. Imagine when WWE finally does release a set on Kurt Angle or Sting (if ever), the sets could go on and on. Guys who were employed by WWE for as long as Bret was have too large of a catalog of incredible masterpiece matches to even put to DVD. Same goes for Flair, Sting, Hogan, Undertaker, and HBK. I never thought it would be somewhat of an issue DVD-wise to have so many classics.
Great idea & i would by 2 copies the dvd & blue ray. This set must have the following:
Hart Foundation vs Islanders Torronto 1986
Hart Foundation vs Rougue Brothers 1986
Hart Foundation vs Twin Towers 1989
Bret Hart vs Ric Martel Boston Garden 20
mins draw 1989
Bret Hart vs Mr Perfect Wrestling Challenge 1989
Bret Hart vs Ted Dibiase MSG 1991 20 mins Draw
Bret Hart vs Razor Ramin KOTR 1993
Bret Hart vs Hakushi Raw 1995
Bret Hart vs Vader match Raw Aug 1997
Bret Hart vs Ken Shamrock Raw 1997
Bret Hart vs Ric Flair WCW Souled Out 1998
Bret Hart vs Booker T Nitro Feb 1999
Bret Hart vs Billy Kidman Nitro 1999
Bret Hart vs Jeff Jarret WCW Title match Nitro 1999
Bret Hart & Hart Dynasty vs Nexus MSG 2010
Fantasic set this.I actually suggested this when WWE sent out that questionaire some time ago.The concept of ‘Unreleased Series’ could easilly be applied to Ric Flair,Shawn Michaels or any other number of other superstars. The match listing is superb Mark, well done. The only addition i’d make would be to include the famed bout against Tom Magee that had Vince McMahon seeing dollar signs.Great addition to the already excellent ‘Fantasy Concept’ set.
u need the bret vs flair match in which bret won the belt
Good shout on the cage match versus Sid. That was a pivotal match that many consider to have started the Attitude Era, and I’m shocked that it hasn’t found its way onto a single DVD set as yet. It should’ve been on the Raw 15th Anniversary compilation.
don’t forget about his steel cage match vs sid on raw for the wwe title, his match vs goldberg for the u.s title on nitro, and his match when him and goldberg won the tag team titles vs creative control on thunder. rare gems.
I’d put Bret Hart vs. Sting for the US Championship from
WCW Halloween Havoc 1998 over there Mayhem match any day and
we would call it a deal and I will buy it anyway.
Where’s the Shawn Michaels match that’s advertised on the back?
Unbelievable job on this, I would buy it in a second. I would love to see one of these sets for Mr. Perfect as well..the bonus matches on his 2 disc DVD set were pretty bad. Great job on this!
I’d buy it straight away
Blu-ray exclusives
1st ever Hart Foundation vs. British Bulldogs match (Philly Spectrum April ’85)
Vs. Dynamite Kid (Cap Center)
Vs. Jean Pierre LaFitte (IYH Sept ’95)
Vs. Stonecold (IYH April ’97)
Vs. Ric Flair (Souled Out ’98)
@ StevenJackson,
Surprisingly Randy Savage vs. Bret Hart occured in 1987 in WWE that was televised, the match is on the Best of Saturday Night’s Main Event DVD. Great match too! Don’t recall any others. Was hoping it would have main evented Wrestlemania 9, with Savage winning the Rumble instead of Yokozuna.
But Vince wanted to push the young talent that time and sat Savage at commentary, which he hated from reports and the reason he jumped to WCW in 1994.
They also faced at WCW Slamboree 98.
this dvd look good and the match selection is awesome
I really like this concept and I would pick it up in a heartbeat (no pun intended). However, on the cover it lists “Randy Savage” however I can find no Randy Savage match in the match listing but that can soon be changed. I would also like to have seen his 1st WWE Championship victory against Flair (from Coliseum video) as it was a real forgotten classic (even though it did appear on WWE TOP 50 SUPERSTARS DVD it deserves to be here). Nevertheless a brilliant set which I would still pick up, no matter what.
Excellently executed!
i always thought this would come out but think the hart family dvd replaced this?
Someone needs to send this to WWE. This is an absolute incredible collection.
Other than the match with Tiger Mask, that’s a great set. I’d buy it.
Awesome looking set. It does suck that this set doesn’t actually exist. I would definitely get something like this, especially for the lost matches against Flair, Undertaker, Yokozuna, Owen, and Austin. The match against Rocky, the two against Terry Funk (which are both historic for very different reasons), the tag match against Sting and Warrior, and two WCW matches against Sting and Goldberg are also very cool, as well as the historic last match against Nash.
I would also love to see his match against Diesel from King of the Ring 1994, and maybe a couple of other gems from Nitro. But still, this is sadly the best looking match listing I’ve seen for compilation in a long time.
Excellent set. Great match selection as well.
I’d love to see a bunch of retrospective/training DVD’s released by guys like Bret. There could be a collection of all the WWE greats walking you step by step through the why/how they did what they did.
In decades to come when some of them aren’t around, it will really help the up and comers learn how to work.
I would pre order this on blu-ray in a matter of seconds. Bret is my favorite. I have 2 copies of his firsr dvd, 1 I opened to watch and the other to never open and leave in its original seal.
This DVD looks amazing. I’d buy it in a heart beat.
Now thats what i’ve been waiting 4! A BRET BLU-RAY! The Attitude Era matches luk great! THOUGH IM REALLY LOOKING FORWARD 2THE HART/BACKLUND MATCH! I also hope they make mre DVD’s/BLU-RAY’s 4mre superstarz like HBK!
You did such an excellent job here. I felt the unreleased Collector’s Series on Hogan was truly an amazing set. I love that set and we do need another one. When that DVD was discussed I thought, “Another Hogan set?” But when I saw the listing it became a must have and the same goes for this piece. I’d love Collector’s Series sets on Flair, Randy Savage and Undertaker. Great job once again. This set needs to come out and I never even knew he went one on one with the great one
You’ve excelled yourself with this one mate. But its quite annoying that I want one and it doesn’t actually exist. The cover art is amazing and I don’t think wwe could do a much beter job than this. Good work!
