Fantasy Concept returns with a very topical release. Following his recent return to Monday Night Raw, this edition of Fantasy Concept looks at a third Ric Flair WWE Home Video release.
Ric Flair – The Diamond Collection would be a match compilation featuring matches from throughout Ric Flair’s legendary career from all areas of WWE’s video library. Similar to the 2010 “My Journey” set with Shawn Michaels this should have a sit-down interview with Jim Ross and The Nature Boy.

Huge thanks to William Slack for his help with this one.
Would this set interest you? It’s great to hear your feedback, so please use the comments section below or tweet me @_MarkD_
Nobody can EVER get enough of the Ric Flair sets!!! :)))
I would love to see his match ric flair nwa champ vs bob backland wwe champ
This would be a great set.Ric flair had such a great career. His japen matches were great to.I recently saw a match between him and brusier brody.Anybody know why wwe wont do a ultimate andre the giant dvd set.
I’d love to finally see these unreleased Clash matches put out:
September 1989- Flair and Sting vs. Slater and Muta
November 1990- Flair vs. Reed
November 1993- Flair vs. Vader
They should also put out his Battle of the Belts matches against:
-Windham
-McDaniel
-Luger
Between the last two posts alone, there’s already enough material for another set, and the amazing thing is that only 1 of them is mentioned in the original post!
The only WWF/E things that would be acceptable to have on this type of compilation are:
10/91 World Tour VHS- VS KERRY VON ERICH
12/91 Prime Time Wrestling- VS SHAWN MICHAELS
3/92 Battle of the Superstars VHS- w/SID JUSTICE VS HULK HOGAN/RODDY PIPER
5/9/92 Superstars- VS SGT.SLAUGHTER
6/2/92 UK Fan Favourites VHS- VS RANDY SAVAGE
9/1/92 Prime Time Wrestling- VS RANDY SAVAGE
9/2/92 UNDERTAKER VHS RELEASE- VS THE UNDERTAKER
1/4/93 Invasion of the Bodyslammers VHS- VS MR.PERFECT
6/3/2002 RAW- Ric Flair vs Steve Austin
9/2/02 RAW- Flair vs. HHH and Flair/RVD vs. HHH/Jericho
3/24/03 RAW- Flair/HHH vs. Booker/Goldust
6/27/05 RAW- Ric Flair vs. Kurt Angle
12/31/07 RAW- Triple H vs. Ric Flair
I don’t want to see any other WWFE footage on a Ric Flair Blu-Ray set.
Man, you should be in charge of devising the content for all of the WWE’s DVD releases. This is an example of how these DVDs should be done!
Great concept! But contents that should be added:
every match Ric had with Steamboat (his greatest opponent), Sting (they guy he put on the map), and Randy Savage (the guy who I felt had great matches with him aside from the other two names)
Ric vs Taker – WM18 (I know Ric was past his prime and lost. But he looked far, far much better than he actually was. This was his best match since returning to WWE in 2001 IMO aside from his WM24 match with HBK. I hated his matches with HHH and the other guys he fought.)
Ric vs HBK – WM24
The entire Flair retirement ceremony – including the off air stuff with Taker and Vince.
Both of Flair’s HOF Inductions in it’s entirety.
Flair’s return to WWE in 2012 – introducing Cena, Cena giving him his trophy, his promo with Punk, his fight with The Shield, the entire night in full has to be here!
Promos:
Funeral Parlour where he showed up with the “real” World Title.
Flair after winning the WWF Title at Royal Rumble 92
Everything leading up to WM8, WM18, WM24.
Some of this may be in other Flair sets. But they’re worth being here too and WWE has a habit of putting the same thing on multiple sets anyway.
I’m looking forward to seeing this one becoming a reality more than any other fantasy concept or anything else on WWE’s schedule.
Among the stuff I’d include are his Battle of the Belts classics against Barry Windham, Wahoo McDaniel and Lex Luger. Flair could go like no other and even these three rarely seen masterpieces showcase his incredibly wide range as a wrestler and being able to work with wrestlers featuring diverse styles.
i’m. ric. flair. and. i. put. periods. after. every. word. i. shout. when. i. cut. a. promo. and. add. wooooo. a lot. and. dumbies. think. i’m. great. on. the. mic. woooooooo.
i. also. stole. my. entire. gimmick. from. buddy. rogers. wooooo. from. the. strut. woooo. to. the. figure. four. woooo. i’m. not. original. at all.
can. you. loan. me. some. money?. woooooo.
Without question, I wholeheartedly agree with the statements of Steve Austin, Hulk Hogan, Triple H, Dusty Rhodes, Harley Race, Shawn Michaels, and countless others who have all declared that Ric Flair is the greatest performer in the history of the wrestling industry. If they’re saying it, there’s nothing left for anybody else to say. They’ve been in the ring with virtually everybody and are in a far better position to make this type of statement than anybody else as they really have nothing to gain from making these statements. It’s also worth noting that never has there been a more star-studded group of wrestlers with such diverse styles and perspectives who have been able to come to one singular opinion on something so significant as it relates to their own industry. As a result, I can’t wait for the next Ric Flair dedicated releases.
I will definitely be giving this a miss. Horrible DVD.
I think I am the only one who thinks that rick flair sucks. He in my opinion he is overrated. I find that he really is not that good. So I would be kind of upset if they did this. Because well really it is stuff that we have already seen before. Also come on how many of these sets have we seen about him
I would like to see this one done as a unrelesed collection. Like Hogan’s last WWE DVD set. I would love to see matchs from him in Japan
Despite its historic signifigance, the Savage/Flair title switch from Sept.1992 was a poorly executed match. The postmatch promo/celebration with Flair/Heenan/Mr. Perfect/& Razor Ramon was more entertaining than the match itself. Nice work on the fantasy set though…I’d buy it.
Take out the Cage match with Hogan & it is perfect.
I’m pretty thrilled with Flair’s 2008 dvd and really don’t wanna see another sit down interview on dvd with him, rather just throw the matches on and cut the interview.
Any chance you can do a Fantasy Concept on RAW’s Best of Seasons 3 and 4????
I like the looks of this set except no match with Harley Race appears. Other than that, I would buy it. Great job.
I’d say WWE should release this as a DVD as well as the best of WCW Saturday Night
I would be all for a Best of TBS set, starting with Georgia Championship Wrestling and continuing with World Championship Wrestling as well as Saturday Night. For good measure, throw in Main Event, Power Hour, Pro, Superstars on the Superstation as well as a few Clash matches as well.
I would of put the Bash 85 match with Nikita instead of the 87 one.
Since you put a Mid-South match maybe you should squeeze the famous one with DiBiase or Jake on there.
Looks cool.
why we need another Flair Dvd serriously like there is soo many i already have feeling this wwe had planed then he jump TNA the guy who makes this needs to get laid!!
I noticed some typos, allow me to restate and clarify the opinion of the esteemed Mr. F***.
“We don’t need another Ric Flair DVD, in my humble opinion there are already enough compilations covering his career. Prior to his leaving WWE for TNA I suspected a video like this was likely on the way. If only my spelling and grammar were better my online dating profiles would be more appealing and then maybe I could get laid!”
That’s what I think he meant. I apologize in advance Mr. F*** if I got any of that wrong.
Great concept and it’s also worth noting that you’ve already had a ton of positive response to this post in only a few hours. The funny thing is, there’s a bunch of stuff I feel is missing. The truth is, I could probably come up with another 3 Flair sets without including any previously released to DVD footage or promos. There’s a reason why Ric Flair is the greatest, and this fantasy concept does a very good job of illustrating it. Hopefully WWe is paying attention. We want Flair!
So doing the same thing over and over again for 50 years = a legend….riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhht yup totally not overrated
Watch all of the matches on disc 2 of Flair’s Definitive Collection and you wont see him repeat his style once…
you need to re-watch those matches without the fan-glasses on;
chop x 1000, eye-poke, low-blow, flipped upside down in the turnbuckle, military press slammed, opponent applies figure-four on him, beg for mercy, face plant, failed attempt to climb top rope then tossed off, has figure-four reversed, repeat the previous 3 times in same match, win with pulling tights.
every flair match is EXACTLY the same.
No fan glasses on.
Again, watch the matches on disc 2 of that set and you want see Flair work those matches the same way.
He has had 3 DVDs in WWE: The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection (2003), Ric Flair & The Four Horsemen (2007) & Nature Boy Ric Flair – The Definitive Collection (2008)
Flair could have a dozen DVDs already released and it wouldn’t come close to covering his incredible career. I love the idea of a diamond collection, but I would make it a 6-disc DVD set and a 4-disc Blu-ray set, if anyone deserves it, it’s Flair!
Wasn’t really complaining, just making a point of his previously-released WWE DVDs (Would be awesome if he could get a Blu-Ray down the line, though)
can’t leave out his match vs jerry lawler from 8/14/82.
Needs more Vader, and less WWE (E, not F!).
I really like this. There’s a few repeats, but it’s still a really enjoyable set.
Plus, flair vs slaughter from superstars may ’92. Flair regains title over savage. Flair loses title to the hitman.
I want everything from his first WWF run.
All i want on disc, are, ric flair’s first promos and matches with the WWF from 1991:
Bobby heenan brining the Real World’s title on the funeral parlor and announcing ric flair is coming, where piper spits on the belt. Ric flair and heenan interviewed by sean mooney on prime time. Flair on funeral parlor. Flair attacks piper on superstars. Flair match with rocker, shawn michaels. Flair interupts hogan on funeral parlor then attacks hogan with undertaker….etc
I think the Ultimate Ric Flair Collection has some of those.
Another good concept, a good name, but I would replace 4 matches, don’t know which ones, but I would replace them with these.
Ric Flair vs. Hulk Hogan
Springfield, MA November 12, 1991
They showed footage of this match on the Greatest Stars of the 90’s during Flair’s bio, so this should be seen in full.
Ric Flair vs. Roddy Piper
San Antonio, TX December 3, 1991
The match should of aired on the Tuesday in Texas PPV, but was a dark match, and heard it was good.
Ric Flair vs. Ultimate Warrior
Winnipeg, Manitoba September 21, 1992
Rare Flair 2nd reign title defense, and against the Warrior.
Ric Flair vs. Vader in a Thundercage Match
Superbrawl 4 February 20, 1994
I’d take out an Evolution match or two to make room for the Saturday Night match against Steamboat.
I’d definitely buy this.
Anyone ever see the 13 hour shoot with Flair “Diamonds Are Forever”? Check it out! The title made me think of it. Great selections here.
ive been wishing for the match with kerry von erich to make it onto a dvd set for years they had such amazing chemistry together
That sounds really great with fantastic Matches. Disk 3 ist only Promos right ?
Ric Flair vs. Kurt Angle
RAW • June 27, 2005
Thank you. That match was a forgotten gem & a dream match for me. Glad it made your list. Great collection of matches.
Question…Does anyone know who owns the Pro Wrestling USA library?
I just watched the Shawn Michaels – My Journey DVD a few days ago, and I was thinking that they should do more DVD’s like that. Really cool concept. The Ric Flair one would be awesome and I’m sure Flair would tell some funny stories along the way. The matches on this set look great. It would be a must buy for me.
A very realistic representation of what this release would look like if produced by WWE. No matter my personal preference for minimal post 2002 footage, the reality is that WWE is never going to sacrifice their recent (previous 10 years) “creative genius” for pro wrestling history.
This is an excellent job, probably my favorite yet. I counted at least twelve matches on this listing that are on my personal unreleased must-have list. Great effort all around…I really like the cover and the “Diamond Collection” concept.
Any set that gets Flair’s 2nd WWE Title win on DVD is a good one.
I am not a fan of Ric Flair but I would buy it just for the matches
Good set you can’t go wrong with flair. There is still so much that’s still out there as far as is match’s go. But I would have put his match with Niktia from Great Amercan Bash. Or his match’s with Buddy Rogers or Andre the Giant. Or when he wrestled Bob Backlud Rick Martel and Nick Bockwrikle when Flair was NWA champion and they were WWE and AWA Champs.
Great DVD concept. I can’t get enough of Ric Flair. I think this would be a great concept for a DVD which I would buy. Although I’d change a few of the later WWE matches for some older NWA/WCW ones but that’s just personal preference. Overall, a great DVD Concept which I wish was real, once again.
