As we exclusively reported this month on International Women’s Day, WWE will be releasing a 3-disc DVD in 2018 titled “Then, Now, Forever: The Evolution of WWE’s Women’s Division”.
Fans in the United States can now find this collection listed for pre-order on Best Buy’s website here; it appears that Best Buy has jumped the queue and is listing this Women’s set and another of the year’s anticipated titles – “Randy Savage Unreleased” – before any other major US retail site.
In the case of Macho Man DVD, Best Buy’s new product page confirms the release date we revealed previously of May 29th, however for the first-ever DVD showcasing the women of WWE the site instead indicates a June 26th release time which is two weeks later than expected.
Best Buy are quick off the mark right now with their 2018 WWE DVD pre-orders (including a WrestleMania 34 Blu-ray with exclusive artwork) but they may be working off an outdated schedule; the website lists a “Double Feature” PPV DVD combining Backlash and Payback 2018.
WrestlingDVDNetwork.com can confirm that as of right now all upcoming PPVs are scheduled for individual releases as 2-disc DVD sets with the expectation that all of those events will be 4 hours in length, pending WWE’s final decision. This applies to the following PPVs on the 2018 DVD schedule:
BACKLASH
MONEY IN THE BANK
EXTREME RULES
SUMMERSLAM
HELL IN A CELL
TLC
SURVIVOR SERIES
As you will know, Payback was removed from the 2018 line-up following the news that all PPVs will be dual-branded moving forward, so therefore cannot be part of a new “Double Feature”.
In fact, unless there’s an unexpected turnaround, there will be no more “Double Feature” PPV packs beyond the “Double Feature: Elimination Chamber & Fastlane 2018” DVD that will hit stores across the United States in April and will follow to the United Kingdom in May.

WWE DVD ERROR: Two WDN readers got in touch to alert us that their copies of the recently released “Best of RAW & SmackDown 2017” DVD contained the wrong discs inside the packaging.
When opened these collectors instead found that the 3 discs were that of “Ric Flair: The Definitive Collection”; a WWE DVD title from several years ago! These erroneous products were supposedly found in Detroit and Chicago in the United States.
We can’t confirm the legitimacy of this story yet – if the issue is present with this DVD it doesn’t appear to be widespread – but if the same has happened to you do let us know.

Ha same thing happened to me I have bought the Jerry the King Lawler but on Blu Ray and instead they gave it to me on DVD disks and not only that it wasn’t even the right one inside was two DVDs discs it was John Cenas my life that came out in 2007 I was pissed so I text the person right away and off course it was on eBay and I have bought the Scott Hall on Blu Ray but they gave it to me on DVD and since then I haven’t bought anything on eBay now I used Amazon instead
The Ric Flair disc mistake is probably no more than some guy who placed the wrong discs into the set somehow at some WWE warehouse. Who knows maybe he had a few cold ones before the shift? I don’t think it’s beyond the realm of possibility. I don’t think it was done intentionally. Still a dumb mistake but I don’t think it was any more than that.
I know what you mean. Since this article though we have heard from another reader who had the same thing happen to them so at a guess a batch of them might have all been packed with the Ric Flair discs in error.
WWE should start taking the route that UFC has done, just scrap DVDs all together – actually maybe just the PPVs only. Honestly, besides Wrestlemania, Royal Rumble and possibly even Summerslam do PPV DVDs even sell well enough?! they seem to just release them out of habit and really to only fulfill their obligations with Warner.
They should just release the big 4 and the compilations/documentaries on Blu-ray/DVD and just focus on the Network.
Having every PPV from WM34 on-wards double-disc for just 1 PPV is just overkill. DVD quality sucks as is, at least with Blu-ray it will be a single disc and likely cost around the same as releasing the same PPV on a double disc DVD.
WWE non-logic strikes again: Blu-ray discs alledgly are more expensive to produce than DVD discs.. and that is why it of course makes perfect sense….NOT!!! to release future singluar events on 2 DVD’s, hence double the expenses for a media that is horrible when you use it for HD filmed material.
I wonder, what would happen if WWE turned their own table and only release HD filmed product as it should be: on the Blu’ brand.. my guess is, a lot of collector’s who for what ever reason are against Blu-ray, suddenly take another point of view…and will finally see the Blue light.. 😉
Yes but 2 DVD blanks are more expensive than 1 BD blank. Thus the excuse that BD releases are more expensive to make is now out the window with all PPVs most likely being 2 disc DVD sets from now on.
It really bugs me that WWE keeps changing their media formats. I think the double packs were an excellent idea. Seems like if you like or dislike something they are doing, things will change again rather quickly. We’ve gone from single disc sets, two disc sets, 3 disc sets, blu rays, double features, and back to 3 discs again. Now, PPVs are changing again too.
Hold up, the PPV DVD change is only coming about because of the PPV change; there will now be less PPVs in a year and no RAW/SD exclusive ones anymore. The Double Feature sets combined one RAW PPV with an SD PPV so that can’t work now.
I would credit WWE for making the Double Features to ensure all the PPVs saw a release, and now I would credit them again if they get all the PPVs out as 2 disc sets.
I guess what I’m saying is they aren’t just randomly changing DVD release strategies – they’re doing what they must to get the PPVs on DVD which a lot of us here must want to keep happening.
My fear is not that they end the brand split, but they end up putting the same guys on every show. You can end the brand split and still have different guys on each show every week. You just have to book it properly. For example, you say “Ok this week Styles, Owens, Rollins, Reigns, Charlotte, Sasha, etc are appearing on Raw and Nakamura, Balor, Orton, Joe, Bayley, Becky, etc are appearing on Smackdown”. And then the next week and every week after that you keep dividing people between the 2 shows, it doesn’t have to be the same people on both shows every week.
The positive to that is it opens up more potential matchups and you aren’t locked with only certain wrestlers on certain shows. Let’s say you wanna do a Rollins vs Nakamura feud for example, well right now you can’t because they’re on seperate shows. You’re handcuffed. Ending the brand split removes the handcuffs. WWE has been around for the last 65 years. They’ve only had seperate brands for 11 of those 65. They managed just fine for the other 54 years of their existence without a split. There’s no need for it, again if booked properly.
They could also have one tag team division. So all the tag teams could be battling for one set of titles. Then bring back women’s tag team titles. Raw could do men tag titles one week and Smackdown has the women.
Too bad. I quite enjoyed the Double Feature dvds. If they are all going to be dual branded now maybe they should just merge the two women’s divisions and have women’s tag titles.

Why even do a brand split if your just going to join both brands together not a fan of this
I’m not either. Afraid we will see the same talent every ppv. At least with the split you could see different talent get on tv.

I agree completely with that. Unify the 2 Women’s Championships, have 1 Women’s World Championship and then create a Women’s Tag Team Championship.
