This is a pretty strong DVD Set..The top 3 best matches for me would have to be Daniel Bryan vs Triple H… Evolution vs Shield.. and probably the match of the year in 2014 for the Tag Team Titles: Usos vs Rowan & Harper- which has to be the greatest tag team match ever seen in a long time.!!
What in the flying f**k? So they didn’t include Cena/Lesnar from Summerslam, probably the most important match of the year, and they included that terrible Cena/Orton Cell match, but not that great Ambrose/Rollins match? Are you f**king kidding me?
CAN’T WAIT FOR THE JERRY LAWLER DVD. IT’S BEEN A LONG TIME COMING!!!!
why isn’t Seth Rollins vs dean Ambrose at hell in a cell on there?!?! That was WAY better than Cena vs Orton, and undertaker vs Brock lesnar wasn’t really a good match, the moment was just shocking
Very surprised Undertaker vs Brock Lesnar from WrestleMania xXX didn’t make it on the set.
I think I’d rather buy UFC’s Best of 2014!
I have always thought this was a waste of a release as I prefer to buy the whole event as with just a few matches u don’t get a feel for the atmosphere especially when all the matches were built up the right way. Even if some events have bad lower card matches u will atleast get 3 or more other on it that are worth buying the whe event. Just my opinion but….
F**k that, most of the events these days have a smiliar atmosphere to them, and I’d just rather watch the good matches than the bad ones. I kind of see your point, but there’s no way I’d sit through all of WM 29 again just so I could watch Punk/Taker.
While I’m still disappointed about this not being released in Canada/US I can at least happily say I got The Shield DVD to look forward to in 2015. Also it looks to me like I’m going to have to get a region free player and maybe order this online.
I got my region free blu ray player for only $135 off ebay so they’re not expensive. You can get them as low as $99, so I would go there.
Awesome, Will do, does it make DVDs from other regions look as if they’re from the same region? for example, would it make WWE UK Exclusive DVDs look like they’re from US/Canada?
I would assume so, yes. If you’re looking for just region free dvd, the $99 one is region free for dvd but not blu ray. For blu ray, there’s one for $139 (maybe lower). My player came with an HDMI only hookup, so depending on the player you get, you may need an HD TV. Hope this helps.
Ok perfect, I have a HDTV (who doesn’t these days?) lol. Yes I’m just looking for region free for dvds for now. I have a few UK Exclusive WWE DVDs already (12 discs attitude collection, The best of Main Event) and possibly this one if I’m lucky enough to get it online when it’s released but the ones I have now are unwatchable so I’m hoping a region free play can change that. I’m also thinking of getting some tagged classics as well. Every In Your House, King Of The Ring and UK only released Survivor Series sounds pretty sweet right now.
as a collector of tagged classics from silvervision, I can give you the warmest recommendations for those releases.
While the pict and sound quality obviously are not up to HD standard, it is though much better than RF video ECW releases and best of all:
the tagged classics from silvervision are really uncut and unedited, compared to The Network stream.
If you don’t mind second hand, I used amazon uk market place sellers when not avaliable from silvervision.
They at times have pretty good prices and are mostly in very good to near mint condition.
Though, I do not know bout exporting to the US, but guess, you can check it out by asking the different sellers who ship international.
“the tagged classics from silvervision are really uncut and unedited, compared to The Network stream.”
actually that’s not accurate. the “Tagged Classics” are rereleases of the old vhs releases. and especially the early ones were heavily edited – and I mean, HEAVILY! they pretty much cut shows that were about three hours long down to about two hours.
the Anthology releases of the ppvs on the other hand have the blurring issues etc. but at least show every match in its full length.
(also, another thing: the editing of music is not a new thing: for example, at the first WrestleMania he came out to “Eye of the Tiger”. but every release, including the old vhs releases, has “Real American” dubbed over it instead)
as far as the WrestleMania, Summerslam, Survivor Series and Royal Rumble releases goes, I agree with you, that the Anthology versions are more complete than the Tagged Classics versions.
The subjects here are not the 4 big ppv’s though..it is bout the ppv’s that up until the presentation of the Network have not been presented on any kind of digital.
I have compared several shows from the Network that thankful now are avaliable for everybody, not only UK and European market, to my Tagged Classics versions and overall it is the same, sure.. but, here and there are cuts and edits made, like signs in the crowd and choke holds.
The issues I have are not the cuts and edits.. the issues are, why they sell it as being: Uncut and Unedited! That’s Stephanie McMahon’s words at the release presentaion of the Network.
If it is not, then don’t say it.. don’t say anything like that. Wrestling fans are not stupid…I really am concerned though, that wwe has the nerv to think that, with all the bs they created within the first year of this “revolutionary” Network era.
Absolutely pointless release, this Best PPV Matches is. Especially without a Blu-ray release. Hopefully when the WB takes over they will get more Blu-ray releases out there.
Can someone please tell me this is gonna get a Canada/US release later in 2014? I’m a huge collector of these “Best Of” DVDs and there’s so many great matches on here I feel it’s a must have for me. Especially because I don’t collect every PPV on DVD.
as things look right now, it is an UK/European only release.
“Best PPV Matches 2014″ will not be going ahead in the US due to the series being cancelled.”
I live in the US, will I be able to purchase this and have it shipped from the UK?
Freemantle, the UK European licenser, does not ship outside UK and Europe.. maybe amazon.uk can, or other amazon departments, but I assume it will cost a lot, also with the bs import duty and taxes.
Yeah, Amazon UK is your best bet. But its rather quite expensive. Usually releases like these are about £25 which convert to about $40 US plus there are taxes and duties depending on the country and in the end could cost you nearly $50.
I use to import WWE Blu-rays from Amazon UK that were not available in North America, but haven’t bought any for this year because they are very expensive now because i noticed they charge VAT (basically taxes) to orders in Canada, which they didn’t last year. So i just stopped importing them.
never understood the politics bout the duty, taxes and VAT in a world with appearently has free trade politic…but, that is of course only for big companies I assume. :-/
I consider to import some of the rare stuff I found article bout in here, such as the Live in Japan 2005 and Diva Diaries.. and yes, I knew that the prices of course would be skyhigh, but the hesitation is not prices for the items them selfs, it is the BS taxes and duties, that would blow my already fragile budget to pieces.
I imported the Live in Japan 2005 DVD couple years ago (can’t remember where again) and by accident they sent me two sealed copies. I have one for viewing and i sold my other copy on ebay several months ago for about $55.
Too bad they actually removed Benoit vs. Jericho Submission Match from the set.
Also last year I imported the WCW Millionaire Club vs. New Blood DVD from Amazon Japan and according to the listing when I translated it the seller said it was Like New and only converted to about $25 Canadian with shipping. So i took the chance and bought it. To my surprise the DVD was brand new sealed! I still have it and don’t think I’m going to part ways with it just yet – just an absolute gem.
lucky Fella you are, David.. 🙂
do you have the Live in Italy from 2007 by Silvervison? and is it worth getting it, if possible at all?
been looking for it since Silvervision went out of business.. never got to buy it back then..
That Live in Japan and Live in Italy are the only back catalogue dvds I am missing, but I can from the article in here by Daniel Bee that the Japan dvd is possible to get, so, gonna start saving up to get that in 2015. 😉
Yeah, I have the Live in Italy 2007 DVD and Live in UK sets from October 2007 to November 2013.
I bought the Italy DVD few years ago when it was little easy to find, now I’m searching and doesn’t seem to be listed anywhere.
have the Live in Uk sets up to november 2009, after that I lost interest in that concept.
yeah, that is a rare one, that Italy release.. well, I keep searching, I might be lucky one day.. miracles do happen, as I have experienced:
got the WM XX limited box set for less than 20 £ from a amazon uk trader. no. 2.804/6.000. No way I could have dreamed that I get that one. 🙂
not that rare, but to the price: 1.86 € + delivery costs of 6 € for the UK version of Stone Cold Bottom bluray..
Worlds greatest tag teams: 0,19 £ + delivery.
Amazon has been and still is my favorite place to buy, since Silvervision closed down.
pointless release for me, since on bluray I already have the 2 matches of the year, Bryan vs Wyatt and The Shield vs The Wyatts.
Only reason I could have picked this one up, if there was a bluray and the Ambrose vs Rollins HIAC match would be there instead of the booooooring Cena/Orton.
2015 does not look good if the DVD only concept is an omen to be a politic also for UK European market. Damn you to Hell, Network. Straight to Hell! 🙁
Mostly solid selections but it also shows how much Punk and Bryan were missed this year. I have to believe if these two worked the entire year, a few of these matches would have never made the list.
El Torrito vs Hornswoggle? Ugh.
IC Battle Royal? I hardly see that as memorable.
I would have preferred the Payback match between Evolution and the Shield.
I didn’t think much of Ziggler/Cesaro at HIAC. It should have gone 3 falls and it did Cesaro no favors.
It’s a good collection but without a bluray and as a subscriber to WWE Network, I don’t see myself picking this up.
Punk hasn’t really been that good since 2013 when he left after WM. He was just phoning it in up to the day he left. I’m a Punk fan and all but seems like he was really banged up and didn’t get proper time off last year so he must have been working through injuries for like 6 months when feuding with Lesnar, Ryback, Axel, Heyman, Shield and Authority.
If you see recent pics of Punk he looks so healthy and well-rested compared to his last 6 months or so in WWE.
Bryan on the other hand worked hard last year and this year but unfortunately injuries caught up to him.
as we obviously can not know 100 % what was going on leading to Punk’s abscent, I agree with you, that the man must have been burned out.. was he working through with injuries? if so, then either:
1- the wwe has appearently NOT changed their perspective on what is best for their workers, the wrestlers, if it is all bout: “you hurt, well, you want money, go out there, and you get more hurt.”
2- or, Punk has much more work ethic than he should have, if he has covered up injuries while working.
I have the deepest respect for guys like Punk, Bryan, Ziggler and the list continues..
cos they do something that is awesome at most times.. but, they should never ever feel the pressure of getting out and perform, if they are hurt and injured legit..
do not want them to look like Randy the Ram in the end.. (awesome performance and film I might add)
I think Punk vs Brock at SummerSlam was one of the best matches of 2013 and easily Punk’s best match that year.
absolute agree with you.. although, I would tie it with the Payback epic against Jericho.
Cesaro/Zayn and Charlotte/Natalya need to be on this
You realize those didn’t air on PPV, right?
I would rather have Ambrose vs Rollins from Hell in a Cell but this is a pick up for me
Very surprised that Cena/Lesnar from Summerslam isn’t include.
WeeLC Match
El Torito vs. Hornswoggle
Extreme Rules (Pre-Show) • May 4, 2014
So, the set pretty much has 20 matches then lol
My thoughts exactly 🙂 Apart from that it’s a real good set. Too bad they stop at Hell in a Cell as usual. They could have made an exception this year and added the Survivor Series main event with the arrival of Sting…
