Following yesterday’s updates on the new Brock Lesnar DVD, a synopsis for WWE’s planned nWo DVD and Blu-ray set is also now out, revealing the format of content included.
This one is slated for release in November 2012 to all regions, produced as a three-disc DVD, and two-disc on Blu-ray. The blurb reveals that it will include a new documentary on the history of the nWo, as the main feature. It also makes reference to Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff, which seems to infer that their contributions to the documentary will be archive interviews. The rest of the set will of course consist of matches and moments from nWo’s run in WCW and WWE.
In the mid-90s, a malicious group of renegades ‘invaded’ World Championship Wrestling, shaking the landscape of the sports-entertainment world and turning the tables on Monday Night War. Little did anyone know, the shock of the century was yet to come. When Hulk Hogan did the unthinkable and turned his back on the fans, The Outsiders had officially become The New World Order, and chaos ensued.
Now, relive the the history of one of the most infamous and controversial factions of all time with this brand new documentary. Get the inside scoop from those who lived it, such as Kevin Nash, Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff, as well as new interviews from Superstars who were inspired and enthralled by the nWo. Also featuring the definitive matches and moments from the era, including battles for the WCW World Heavyweight title, stunning defections to the nWo and the internal strife that eventually tore the group apart.
The title of the project is down on the schedules right now as nWo: New World Order, which may or may not change later. Look out for pre-orders going up on Amazon.com very soon.
I wonder if they can use the original nWo theme on this dvd.
this could be one of the best documentaries of all time….. If they do it right

I’ve been watching nWo matches and moments on YouTube and one moment I want is when the nWo attacked DDP and Kimberly on Nitro and at Uncesnored 1997. I still want at least one Jeff Jarrett guitar shot on Sid Vicious from nWo 2000.
I actually liked the nWo 2000, never could understand why Slapnuts Jeff Jarrett would always send the nWo girls to the back, they were sexy. Kim Kanner, Midajah, April Hunter, and Major Gunns.
The nWo 2000 was alright in my book but the time they beat up Terry Funk I thought that killed him lol. The nWo from 1996-1999 was the best though with the nWo Wolfpack too.
I wanna c the HEARTBREAK KID, X-PAC n The BIG SHOW in the nWo whilst in WWE
I hope they have two or three nWo 2000 moments on this set. But if not I’m cool with that because it was alright but not the OG nWo.
i like to see hogan vs piper from wcw superbrawl 7 where macho man joined the nwo, team nwo vs team wcw vs team piper from wcw uncensored and hogan vs sting on nitro the night after starrcade for the wcw championship.
Question for the nWo faithful, what matches and moments that HAVEN’T been released would you like to see on here?
Hogan vs. Savage from Halloween Havoc, Hogan and Rodman vs. Luger and The Giant.
wwe using archive footage eh.
What is this, The Rise and Fall of WCW 2.0??
I will buy this maybe on blu ray it depends on what’s on it and the matches and if this will be a re release of the Original NWO which I don’t own yet
I’m a huge nWo fan but I never could understand the problems Macho Man and Hogan had in the nWo. Hogan should’ve been glad the title was back with the nWo but his ego got in the way. That one time on WCW Thunder the nWo attacked Macho Man for no reason.
Sounds like an Evolution matter Triple H had when Randy Orton won the title…
Its time for a survey..
How many people are going to buy the nWo dvd/BluRay?
One more for the good guys.. nWo 4 Life
Me 4 definite!!! Along with the ATTITUDE ERA!!!
i think that they ought to release a dvd on the great american bash that would be better then one on the nwo
Not all nWo matches were run ins and beat downs of WCW guys. Kevin Nash should host this, he would be perfect for this. He was more nWo than anyone.
From one who watched WCW faithfully during the NWO era, I understand the idea behind this DVD but I also recall just how bad the actual matches were that involved the NWO. The NWO never lost and nearly every match ended with a run in by the rest of the NWO goons. WCW was made to look inferior and they took way too long to organize any type of answer to this invasion. While it was interesting at first, over a couple of years run this story simply ran on too long and was ultimately the reason I gave up on pro wrestling for many years. It just became so predictable. I know this DVD will be fun for a lot of folks, but for most of us who sit through it back in the day, it is just a reminder of just how bad the writing and bookings were there in 1998-2001. I am excited about the upcoming CM Punk release and over all this has been a great year for WWE DVDs.
Well its not as if there weren’t run ins in the WWF at that time. That was just a sign of the times. But the nWo was one of the biggest things that ever happened in wrestling and not to have a DVD on it is just silly when you have one for just about everything else. Its long overdue! Of course you are entitled to your opinion. I’m the first to point it out if I feel a DVD concept sucks. But to see people complain about this release is madness. This one’s obviously not for you. For me its essential.
Good points, I do think the documentary part of the DVD would be a good idea, but for me the matches themselves, which would probably make up discs 2 and 3, wouldn’t interest me. You do make a good point though, the time period of the NWO was a pivotal time and it truly did change wrestling for the better.
I’ll be interested to see if they re-use the same Scott Hall interview from 2002. Its 10 years old but its probably best they do include him and they might not want to show him in such bad physical shape on the doc as he is now. I actually think a bit of archive / new interviews combo would be good. I think they did that with The True Story of Wrestlemania and got away without the ratio looking any different. Not sure how that works. But I’ll be getting the blu ray for sure!
I’m a little sceptical about this release. I think it’ll be ok but looking back while the nWo were huge, their matches just don’t age well I feel. I think it’ll be much like the Clash of the Champions set; sounds great but doesn’t fit the bill.
I’m not altogether that interested in this set for the reasons Shane mentioned. Frankly, for this release, I have no interest whatsoever in the documentary and I KNOW I’ll never watch that part of the release. But, if they show the important moments –both nWo significant wins and angles as well as the few landmark losses– it may be good.
I honestly thought the Clash set was great. The only thing that would have been better would have been to put out a Clash anthology — all the Clashes in their entirety. A 10 Blu-Ray set would have been perfect, but since they’re unlikely to do that, I’ll settle for a Clash Volume 2.
Any chance they might include the Horsemen vs. nWo Fall Brawl 1997 match? It was certainly one of the biggest moments in nWo history and unquestionably necessary in the telling of their story. Furthermore, they have already shown one Benoit match (World War 3 battle royal) on Classics on Demand, and he’s recently appeared on the Top 50 Matches in Raw History list (a Radicalz tag match). The Uncensored 1999 cage match also signified the end of the nWo’s dominance and has to be included if they want to tell the full story. I’d pay $30 for just these two matches in Blu-Ray quality.
I am really looking forward to this DVD for the doc and the matches but how do you have a doc and not include Hogan and Bishoff
By archive footage, mostly from Back in Black and Monday Night War and possibly the Legends of Wrestling roundtables.
I would crack up if the 1 disc was going to be included on this set. “With all new and old matches” Oh ya? You little crybabys gonna complain? Gonna complain about the documentary?
Don’t be a jerk man, everyone is entitled to their opinion. That is what makes this site special, if we didn’t talk about these things it would be just another wrestling site. Don’t be so harsh on everyone who voices their concerns.
So who is willing to bet it will be a re-release of back in black ’02?
Looks good so far and can’t wait for this, this will be 2 sweet!
I agree with u all!! The nWo & the Attitude Era sets r gonna b INCREDIBLE!!!
