May 13, 2011 by Daniel Bee

Over on our Forums a member by the name of “afcchamp88” has compiled a list of WWE Championship matches (which had TITLE CHANGES) from 1963 to 2010 along with their availability on official WWE DVDs.

You can get involved and help keep this list accurate. If you find anything missing or incorrect just leave a comment below the article. Note this list covers NTSC (North America) only, not including the Tagged Classics in the UK for example. We hope the list is useful, enjoy!

wow, great list. some matches are available on tagged classics

  8. Great list. Couple of additions: Edge vs John Cena at New Year’s Revolution and John Cena vs Batista at Elimination Chamber are both on the DVD Satan’s Prison: Anthology of the Elimination Chamber.

  9. ChadWWE says:

WOW what a great bit of work to put this list together. I thought of doing something like this myself, so THANKS!!

  10. CyclopsScott says:

The Big Show vs. HHH vs. Mankind (Triple Threat match) (Survivor Series 1999 – November 14, 1999 – Detroit, MI)

That wasn’t Mankind in that match, it was Triple H

  11. CyclopsScott says:

If I recall correctly, Backlund vs Diesel is included in full during the nWo: Back in Black main feature

  12. afcchamp88 says:

I’ll compare it to the one that’s on the Foley disc later tonight. Thanks for your help, as I’ve mentioned, matches included in the actual documentaries are not well represented.

  13. Will says:

Edit – actually, I’m wrong on the HHH/Mankind match, it does pick up in progress. But from what I can tell by watching it, Rock/Mankind from 1/4/99 is complete

  14. Will says:

@afc, the two matches are indeed in full on the Best of RAW vol. 1 & 2 DVD, on the Vol. 2 disc. The Foley title win is listed wrong when it shows up on the video, it’s listed as being a match from 8/30/99, but it’s the Jan. 1999 title win. And HHH/Mankind is on the disc and in full as well.

  15. afcchamp88 says:

I have a few others done (IC, US and World Heavyweight), but they need auditing and honestly aren’t quite as interesting, though the WHW title is decent.

  16. afcchamp88 says:

Those two matches are not complete on Best of RAW vol. 1 & 2, but there are unblurred clips and finishes of those matches on there, so I will definitely add them to the list. My master matchlist spreadsheet that all of this comes from currently only lists complete matches, and not clips of matches in the documentaries, so there will probably be a few. One thing I noticed when scanning that DVD is that the double pin finish from Breakdown is on disc 1 documentary so also on the Attitude Collection version.

  17. d money says:

will u be doing this for other championships as well

  18. Will says:

    Just so you know,

    – Mankind vs. The Rock (No DQ match) (Monday Night RAW taping – December 29, 1998 – Worcester, MA)
and – HHH vs. Mankind (Monday Night RAW – August 23, 1999 – Ames, IA)

are both available unblurred on “Best of RAW Is WAR Vols. 1 & 2”

  19. Steve says:

Didn’t realize Over the Edge 99 had a title change on it. I watched half of the show last month but got bored. Might have to pop it back in to see the switch.

  20. Will NJ says:

Shawn Michaels vacating the WWF World Title on RAW in Feb.’97 is also included in full as a hidden “Easter Egg” on the 2-DVD “FROM THE VAULT: Shawn Michaels” set…known as the infamous “Lost Smile” speech.

Also, as mentioned previously….the Backlund/Diesel title change from MSG in Nov.’94 is actually the full match…as it only lasted something like 10 seconds! (History of the WWE Championship 3-DVD set)

    Great job on the list.

  21. justin says:

the miz wining the title was a special feature on the survivior series 2010 dvd

  22. jgdc74 says:

The Backlund vs. Inoki match where Inoki won the title was released in Japan complete in the mammoth 13-Disc Antonio Inoki collection box set. I have it. Referee did a quick 3rd count before Backlund could get the shoulder up. Backlund was clearly pissed after the match, but still shook Inoki’s hand.

  23. LP1 says:

The 48 second match where Bruno beat Buddy Rogers for the Title does not exist on any film. Almost all of the WWWF films from 1963-1971 have been lost. There are many snapshots of the Bruno-Rogers match however. There was a Bruno Sammartino home video released in the 80’s(not the WWF Coliseum Video one) where they talk about the match and show all the different pictures from the match. On the WWF Coliseum Video Bruno Sammartino release, Vince McMahon does a voice-over of the Bruno-Rogers match while different pictures from the match are shown. Vince did it like he was calling the actual match. That’s probably as close as you’ll get to ever seeing that match.

  24. Afcchamp88 says:

Yeah there are some small things here and there with anthologies. As far as clips of matches, I only thought it was notable to mention if the full match isn’t available, or not available in unblurred format. That’s why the Vince – HHH match is listed but a clip of the X7 match isn’t listed on whatever DVDs it’s shown on. Outside of clips not being important unless it’s not available, no one has time to go through and catalog every clip in every documentary.

Such a big list and will be inaccuracies, I’ll change anything you guys can spot soon. Thanks again to afcchamp88.

  26. CJ says:

You forgot to put Taker/Hogan at survivor series 91 is also obviously on the Survivor Series anthology.

And to be fair that clip match of Backlund/Diesel was the whole match lo.

  27. Very cool concept guys! Like to see all of you using the forum feature.

  28. Matt says:

Anything after Survivor Series 96 wasn’t released wasn’t part of the anthology. Only volumes 1 and 2 are out so far.

  29. MrB says:

Since when is there a Survivor Series Anthology that includes 1997, 1998, and 1999? I’ve been waiting for a 97-01 set.

Rock vs. Austin WMX7 was not on “What?”. Might wanna recheck that

  31. william says:

Hey banjo the wwe title didnt change hands at wm 2000 or 22 so your wrong

  32. Geolink2349 says:

Rock vs. Austin WMX7 was also shown in Stone Cold’s DVD “What?”.

  33. Daniel Bee says:

This list is those with TITLE CHANGES. I just figured that out myself. In that case would you say it’s accurate, Banjo?

  34. Banjo says:

this list is missing a LOT! I see WM 2000 and WM 22-25 missing…

I think it would be better to make a list of every match repeated on multiple DVDs (not including PPVs), which is a common occurrence. so stuff like Hogan/Warrior from WM 6 and HBK/Hart from WM 12. that would be more helpful IMO
