News just in on “Biggest Matches in ECW History” for June!
WWEDVDNews.com can exclusively reveal that WWE have changed their plans for the new ECW DVD, set for release on June 5th. The theme of the release will no longer be the 25 greatest matches in ECW History, but instead focused on unreleased matches from the ECW archive.
We have also learned that as was the case with the Very Best of WCW Nitro DVD, the new ECW DVD and Blu-ray is planned to be the first volume in an ongoing series. Of course, that will depend on how well the first title performs in sales.
This news is fully confirmed. Stayed tune for another update.
For WrestleMania season it appears WWE are re-releasing the “Hell In A Cell DVD Box Set W/ Undertaker Bust” that was previously put out as an FYE exclusive.
The Undertaker package, which was supposedly limited to 6500 units when produced back in 2008, is available to pre-order over here for April 10th, as an Amazon exclusive. No word yet on if it will be a newly produced set but we would assume it’s old stock passed on to Amazon.
Plenty of ways to get your hands on the new Rock “Great Ones” DVD, if you can’t get to Toys R Us or are located overseas. Here are some eBay listings.

It would be great if we got the last ECW Arena match ever that didnt even make air on HCTV Corino/Credible/Sandman heard it was great but nobody saw it besides the 1,2000 fans in the Arena that night
Epic hope we get matches like the 2/3 falls Lynn vs Credible from May 98 or the Michinoku Pro 6 ymyan from Feb 97 IMO tthat was even better than the barely legal one or how about Sabu vs Scorpio Hardcore Hetvtane 1994 amaz
There are some “hidden”/”forgotten” ECW Arena matches that would be great to have on this set. The first Awesome v. Tanaka, RVD v. Lynn (that is just as good as the PPV matches), or the M.Pro 6 Man tag that aired on Hardcore TV. If it’s stuff that has never touched DVD before this could be amazing!
fyi – that M.Pro match was not at the Arena and it was before KDX went bWo.
That rock bluray that’s on that dvd site is about as realistic as the capital punishment bluray that was going around a while back. Best buy has no rock bluray exclusive, the dip shit that took the pic claiming to have it took that sticker off a best buy bluray on a budget video. I showed the pic to a best buy employe and he showed me the videos that have the sticker. Notice how the best buy sticker is covering the toys r us logo that’s on the dvd case. All that is just some one trying to start a buzz about nothing. I haved checked with my local stores just to confirm what I was already thinking, its a bad attempt of a fake.nice try by the retard tho, I give a f for creativity 😉
I had the same feelings and doubts. Glad I didn’t mention it here. Sadly I did mention Capitol Punishment as you probably remember!
east_side_rip_rida, I feel your pain taking time to go to Bestbuy, talked to an employee and researched the product. Do you normally do this kind of this to satisfy your hunger or envy for limited rasslin videos?
the 25 greatest matches in ECW history would have sold more than 25 unreleased matches.
It’s been a while since i looked at that Exclusive FYE Hell in a cell Set. I picked up both The Kane & Taker set back in the day at full price. I recall Fye having a very hard time selling them when most of them were going out of business, so i assume amazon has picked up the overstock.
While I completely understand business in general of giving the public what they want and only releasing stuff that will make money WWE’s entire “we will see depending on sales” really burns me. If youre going to release sets then continue them on and on until theyre done (survivor series, best of raw) i would love to see them continue to release more and more of ECW type stuff along with more rare matches and sets. think about it, WWE has really not produced volumes of too much stuff, given them sequels and seen planned releases to the end. id like them to stick to their guns and keep this stuff going.
Great news! I like that WWE will release these ECW/WCW releases in volumes. Maybe they can continue with the RAW seasons too? lol.
I wish they would continue the RAW seasons too…but from reports Seasons 1 and 2 did horrible in terms of sales which is why WWE scrapped the remaining. Its too bad, the first release was pretty awesome…97/98 and 99/00 would have been an amazing set.
The WCW and ECW sets sell well which is why they will continue to release those themes.
@Dave
Yeah, I know about the sales, which you’re right – is extremely too bad. 97/98 99/00 would have been awesome.
I wish they would release a video on Taz he had some of the most amazing matches ever in ECW
Did anyone think to consider that WWE isn’t “changing” the ECW DVD and that they planned on it being unreleased matches from the start and that the original news we got about biggest matches was just wrong?
It doesn’t seem logical that they would change it now so far into production. Joey Styles has been tweeting about this for some time and its coming out in only 2 months so they probably already done producing it.
The original news came direct from WWE’s Home Video licensee in Australia, and since that time “The Biggest Matches in ECW History” was added to the schedule of their US distributor. So trust me on that. I can see what you mean that perhaps a focus was always unreleased matches, but it’s 100% had a change, and the theme/series idea especially.
To be honest Joey’s tweets have been vague. He only said he’s hosting and it’s coming this summer, right?
We’ve seen concept changes like this happen before. Case in point The 50 Biggest Matches in WWE becoming OMG! Top 50 Incidents in WWE.
More likely the ECW DVD has had this new theme for a while and nothing was updated until now. Schedules and the like don’t update in real time with production, after all.
I don’t put up inaccurate news, and unlike some other sites you can query me on anything you read here and I’ll answer. 🙂
will wait for the price to come down, got the kofi dvd for five bucks and will wait on the rock dvd also
Do u think that rock dvd will be in australia?
I doubt we’ll see it released overseas.
Have heard reports of a Best Buy exclusive Blu-ray version of
Rock Great Ones—can you confirm or debunk?
I saw the same pic you probably also saw, but I can’t confirm it. That’s why I haven’t posted about it yet.
