Whats the theme called that Luger comes out to vs Flair on this?
It is criminal that midnight express vs flair/windham is not on here
I agree with Tom, but they should’ve put more NWO matches on it and included the NWO birthday bash after the Hall and Macho Man vs DDP and Luger match.
Seriously? 3 flair vs sting matches? I think I’ll pass on this set.
@Tom: you’re passing on some good shit.
I’ll pass on this one I am really not into the old old matches
I’m glad Scott Steiner vs. Ric Flair from COTC didn’t make it on
the list because it was on the history of the WHC now this is worth
the buy.
@NWO 4 Life
One or two nWo matches are plenty. What is so great about all the nWo matches anyway? Match starts then ends in a run in from the rest of the nWo, a beat down occures, the good guys get spray painted, they get beat up some more, Hogan looks into the camera and tells the world he’s the “best thing going today”, and he rambles on and on and on.
Same format to every nWo match. Nothing special in my opinion.
Im sorry, but why is Flair vs Steamboat from Clash VI not on here?
because its already on both Steamboat’s & Flair’s dvd sets.
Some good matches u got there can’t wait to get it
@SRB
because they are “extras”?!
No reason why WWE cant put Blu-Ray extras and FYE extras on the regular DVD version and save us all the stress. Now they want us to buy 2 copies??? forget it. I’m not playing their stupid game.
@tickc317, I was thinking the same thing, this is ridiculous. Now DVD’s will have something that BluRay’s don’t and vice versa? Is that the way forward? Defies logic. Although at least it adds a bit more value to the DVD format, lol.
I know this isn’t entirely a Best of especially with some of the matches being slotted in when they have no reason to be. I would have liked to have seen a Great Muta or Road Warriors match in there. I would also have liked to have seen the 8 man luchadore tag match from COTC XXXV over Mil Mascaras vs. Cactus Jack or Young Pistols & Z-Man.
WCW Clash of the Champions guys ended around 1998 so a lot of it
dates before that from 1988-1997 really and it covers 1997 pretty
much and I seen that outsiders match from Clash of the champions and it
wasn’t anything memorable.
If WCW sells as well as I’ve heard then there’s really no excuse for them not releasing a big nWo DVD. One of the biggest things that ever happened in wrestling and they’ve had so much time to do one and they’ve even seemed to struggle to think of good dvd ideas at times. I just don’t get why they wouldn’t do it. It can only be politics because its not a good business decision. They like to pick and choose who is important in wrestling history and the nWo was quite vast. Another D-Generation X DVD seems more likely to me. War Games would be nice.
Awwwww no Shockmaster?
I remember The Outsiders had a match at Clash of the Champions, they could’ve added that and some more NWO stuff.
so im guessing we have to buy both the dvd and the blu ray to get the complete listing?….i think thats a load of BS!!!!
The GReat Muta was in several Clash matches. I would have loved to have seen one or two included on this set… 1) Muta/Casey,
2) Sting/Flair vs Slater/Muta 3) Horsemen vs. Dragonmaster/Sawyer/Muta 4)Luger/Muta
Alan/Anonymous: The official name for it is “The Best of WCW Clash of the Champions” as of right now and it doesn’t look to be changing. They know having WCW in there will increase the sales alone.
Other Anonymous: You’re the best in the world at using bold tags. 😉
Well, sorry Anonymous, I can see now that websites seem to be listing it as “WCW Clash of the Champions”, but I’m betting it was just say Clash of the Champions on the final release to incorporate the NWA events. There again, the logic of WWE Home Video never ceases to amaze me sometimes.
Looks interesting!A trip down memory lane for sure!
To be fair there is a fair bit of 1990-1994 content there, which most people usually complain that there is never enough of on WCW releases; I’m impressed. However, I have an home-made complete set of all complete ‘Clash’ events in great quality, so I just don’t really see the need for having only a selection of matches from it with ratio bars annoying me the whole while. Seriously, yeah, HD and all, I get it, there’s no going back, but these bars, do they now bother anybody else? I can’t concentrate on a match with these horrible graphics either side. They could at least make them just black.
@Anonymous: But it’s best of ‘Clash of the Champions’, i.e. the best of the event ever since it’s inception in the NWA. Not ‘Best of WCW Clash of the Champions Only’.
Everything looks like it’s there on this set which i’m proud about
I didn’t see a lot of the WCW Clash of the Champions episodes not
even accually that much of it on Classics on Demand just a few which
I don’t remember which episodes they were they COD showed but this is
pretty fair and Anonymous be great ful about this set because it’s the best WWE set on anything over a year.
They need to stop putting NWA matches on these WCW releases. There’s a lot of matches from the WCW Clash of the Champions that they can use
I want the Hollywood Hogan vs Flair match on bluray asap!
Awesome set! Definite day 1 pickup. Looking forward to the Blu-ray…might pick up the DVD also for the store exclusive.
For people that complaining saying they aren’t buy, really?!? is that 1 or 2 matches you desperately wanted really make or break this set in your view?! People
Awesome line up and i’m looking forward to purchasing this dvd set.
The only redeeming thing about this set is Funk/Flair. That’s such an underwhelming match listing. Probably gonna pass on this one.
I wish they would make Flair and Funk dvd I mean those two had some of the most graphic matches ever
Definetly purchasing this baby!
How bout just a Funk release. I know nothing him, just Flair matches from 89, chainsaw Charlie, and it is amazing watching a 50 something year old do a backflip from a ladder in ECW!!
I’m a little disappointed that the Flair/Whindham vs Midnight match is a Blu Ray exclusive but I’m gonna buy it anyway. I’m most looking forward to:
Luger vs Flair
Regal vs Rhodes
Flair/Sting vs Vader/Rude
Malenko vs Dragon
Also, the Flair/Funk I-Quit match had a lot of post-match activity which to my knowledge was not included on any other set. If it’s included here that will be an added bonus for me.
I’ll pass just doesn’t interest me this one at all
I am the best in the world at everything I do.
I am so looking forward to this! Wanted to see Sting vs. Rude 1991 since it happened!
Awesome! This looks so good.
A lot of DVDs are going to go out of print eventually, so whilst you may hate repeats the Ric Flair vs. Sting match in 1994 for example is only available from silvervision on this set after the Ultimate Ric Flair Collection went out of print. And I’m sure when the DVDs get to be quite old they will stop making more and more of them, so to me I think its good if a great match is readily available. If its not that great then its probably not worth buying anyway and if something purports to be the ‘best’ of something I’d rather it actually was the best matches regardless of whether I’d seen it before.
Only one match I wanted to see is on this set and it’s the last match. Might get it or might not haven’t decided yet.
sting vs r.flair at the first clash had to be included, only been released once before on the last r.flair dvd.this 45 mins classic is fun to remember the good old days of the nwa.2 cold scorpio vs b.windham at clash 23 is not listed,a very good underated match.once again the wwe will have a dvd of the year thanks to wcw.
Oh and I’m sorry but “The Young Pistols & Z-Man vs. The Fabulous Freebirds” and the “15-Man Battle Royal” won by El Giagante have no business being on this set. I’m done now, thanks for listening.
That is ridiculous. You pay more for the dvd and don’t get all the matches!
I may have missed a few in my previous comment. I have to admit that I am dissapointed. I was hoping for a larger set or several volumes broken out by years. But I figured this is what we were going to get. Personally, I’m a bigger fan of the earlier pre Hogan clashes. I think WWE needs to pole this site before putting these things together. The only thing that may interest me is upgrading to Blu-Ray.
For those of you wondering:
Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard vs. Sting & Dusty Rhodes(American Dream: The Dusty Rhodes Story)
‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair vs. Sting(Nature Boy Ric Flair: The Defininitive Collection)
Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard vs. Lex Luger & Barry Windham(Ric Flair and the Four Horsemen)
Brian Pillman vs. “Stunning” Steve Austin(The Legacy of Stone Cold Steve Austin)
“Stunning” Steve Austin vs. Ricky ‘The Dragon’ Steamboat(The Legacy of Stone Cold Steve Austin)
‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair & Arn Anderson vs. The Hollywood Blonds(The Stone Cold Truth)
Sting vs. ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair(The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection)
‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair vs. Terry Funk(The Ultimate Ric Flair Collection & Legends of Wrestling Piper & Funk)
Looks awesome. Being a DVD collector it sucks to get the matches already released, but that comes with the territory. I cant wait for this. Blu ray all the way!
VERY good match listing! Very excited for this. Thanks for posting it up.
Interesting lineup. Most looking forward to Regal-Rhodes. Also, that Cactus-Mascaras match being on here has to be a rib on Foley. 🙂
To answer Steve, off the top of my head, matches that have been used elsewhere:
– Flair-Sting Clash I (Flair Definitive Collection)
– Anderson/Blanchard-Luger/Windham Clash I (Horsemen, Heatseekers LOW)
– Anderson/Blanchard-Sting/Rhodes Clash II (American Dream)
– Flair-Funk Clash IX (Flair Definitive Collection)
– Flair/Anderson-Blonds Clash XXIII (Stone Cold Truth)
– Pillman-Austin Clash XXV (Legacy of Stone Cold)
– Sting-Flair Clash XXVII (Ultimate Ric Flair)
– Austin-Steamboat Clash XXVIII (Legacy of Stone Cold)
I think that covers it. Only 8 repeats and in fairness, some are from older releases. Not bad.
I would have liked to see the segment where the Horsemen kicked Sting out of the group. then the match after in the cage where Sting ruptured his Patella.
@Mark, can we see the content you intended? I’m very interested in that and great art too
@SRB Sure I’ve put it up here: http://tl.gd/g94jqk
I’m not sure if anyone is intrested but I did a concept cover art for this release a few weeks ago, here it is:

Awesome.
I know some of these are on other sets. Anyone know which are on others?
Surprised they didn’t put the Flair-Steamboat Clash 89 Match on there.
Yes I know it is on 106 other DVD’s but that hasn’t stopped WWE in the past.
Will definitely be picking up this one!!!
I took a look at the times for each of the matches and for the Blu-Ray you get about another 1/2 hour of footage, but all together it seems the DVD will be the regular 7 hours of running time. Besides Flair/Sting at Clash #1 most of the matches are short, with several being under 5 minutes long.
I wonder what U.S. store will have the two extra matches. The listing sounds like a great buy.
Wow that looks awesome . Too bad about the stupid Silvervision and one store exclusive. I really hate that shit
Hogan vs. Flair sounds good, but I’d want the Rick Rude match so probably prefer the blu ray on balance because it will look all nice and shiney aswell.
Yes it appears that the DVD Exclusives will only be on the DVD version!
@Harry Faversham I was wondering the same exact thing. Looks like it’s buy it twice or make a decision. It’s all Blu-Ray for me. If it is indeed FYE it would have to be ordered online if they make an exclusive AND Blu-Ray version together.
Does that mean the exclusive DVD extras are not on the blu ray? Cheeky way of getting people to buy it twice if thats the case. But its always good to see Rick Rude!
Very nice. Matches with Flair, Sting, Rick Rude and Luger, perfect. This is a Blu-Ray purchase without a doubt. Very interested in this too “ONE US STORE DVD EXTRAS” I’m guessing FYE???? Hopefully.
