somebody plz tell me did they blur/censor benoit?!!

    • Daniel Bee says:

Blur his body? Ha. Probably just any commentary about him is muted. See Elimination Chamber Anthology DVD.

      • Y2Jerichoholic says:

thanks for response. it’s really sad if they censor him in any way! i mean it’s just wrestling matches…

  2. Kane's Mother says:

You have every war game match ever taped. Just shut up and buy it lol how can you still have omplaints

  3. robert says:

WCW Fall Brawl • September 14, 1997 are they gonna blur out chris benoit’s name and black out his image everytime they show him? I think they should release a best of chris benoit bluray set because he has a ton of great matches.

  4. Mark D says:

I really cannot see why people are complaining, you wanted War Games and that’s exactly what you are getting – every taped war games match. The blu-ray extras are just that – extras.

Personally I think it’s cool to have the Smoky Mountain match as how often do we get any of that? And one of the ECW matches (December to Dismember) has NEVER been released or shown anywhere (not even by ECW) so how can you complain at that?

    • Anonymous says:

Don’t really see much complaining going on (maybe a little, though I wouldn’t think it was necessarily enough to warrant a post strictly dedicated to the limited complaining). In fact, the terms “perfect,” “first day buy” and “best release of 2013” were thrown around. How often do you get that type of praise?

    • DrFever says:

Yeah I don’t get it either. The only thing I could think of to make it better (and this is sight unseen) is if there is a small recap before each war games as to way everyone is fight. But that’s petty and minor.

  5. Anonymous says:

Does this mean we’ll get some WCW content on ECW releases? If so, awesome! Finally a reason to buy an ECW release.

  6. Shane C. Montgomery says:

The 98 War Games was so bad! But then again, anything with The Warrior involved is gonna be a train wreck and this match was one of the worst. What’s up with the Blu-ray exclusives? ECW matches, not that I am complaining, I love it and those to me are the selling point for this release. Wonder why they put them on this when they have a Volume 2 of ECW Unreleased coming out shortly? Or am I reading this thread wrong?

    • Anonymous says:

Honestly, the inclusion of the SMW and ECW matches spoils an otherwise perfect release. I’ll still get it, but I would have much rather seen other moments and matches that led up to the various legitimate War Games matches included in the set.

This one, unlike all of the others released so far this year, is a first day buy.

      • Mark D says:

If you just buy the DVD, and it will be a ‘perfect’ release then won’t it?

        • Anonymous says:

I always buy the best quality possible. As a result, if there’s a Blu-Ray I always buy the Blu-Ray. I’ll only buy a DVD if it doesn’t get released on Blu-Ray. Frankly, even though the SMW and ECW matches don’t belong and should have been replaced with matches and moments leading up to War Games matches, I’d rather have those SMW and ECW matches than nothing at all. So, their inclusion is better than unused space/minutes.

          • some guy says:

The ECW and SMW matches are “War Games Rules”. You are saying you would rather have non-War Games matches on the War Games DVD? That makes more sense?

            • Anonymous says:

If they’re good lead-in matches to the legitimate WCW War Games matches, then yes!

              • DrFever says:

I could make a DVD set out of War Games 92 pre and post event alone. Windham v. Austin from Sat night, Arn v.s Barry 2 of 3, Rude vs. Boat, Arn/Larry or Arn/Eaton vs. Dustin/Barry, the Nikita run in during Lex/Sting vs. Rick/Scott, etc etc etc

                • Jammer says:

The Nikita run in for the Luger/Sting vs. Steiners match happened a year before though. So that match would make no sense at all to be included for a build up to War Games 92.

  7. mark foster says:

If you are a true wrestling fan, then you will love the first war games match.the feud between the fourhorseman andthe road warriors and superpowers was great. When wrestling was great.

  8. KarlKayfabian says:

I’m really working hard to comprehend why people are pining for that Uncensored debacle/travesty/joke like it is Flair/Windham from Crockett Cup ’87 or the Slaughter/Sheik Bootcamp Match. I suppose it really does take different strokes.

    • Anonymous says:

Personally, I’d rather see Flair/Windham from Battle of the Belts or even Beach Blast 1993 than any of the other matches (including the ones about to be released) listed in this entire thread.

  9. Brad Attitude says:

I’m gonna pass on this one. There’s some good matches but i spot a lot of crap ones too.

  10. miz4life says:

Dear God Yes!! Could’ve done without’98 but small price to pay. War Games ’92= my collection complete.

    • Anonymous says:

True, 1998 did suck and, while a War Games match in name, the rules were different enough that it wasn’t a true War Games. By including that match, it should have opened the door for the Uncensored 1996 main event to be included as a Blu-ray extra.

      Whatever.

This is still the best release of 2013 and there’s nothing even close.

  11. RabidHeat says:

    Benoit. 🙂

  12. Anonymous says:

The first and the 1997 War Games are the selling points for me.

I’m glad the ECW and SMW matches are considered Blu-ray extras as that’s the only reasonable way to include them in such a release.

I don’t understand why they didn’t also include the Uncensored 1996 main event as a Blu-ray extra. Nevertheless, this is EASILY THE BEST RELEASE of 2013.

    • LP1 says:

The Uncensored ’96 match wasn’t held under War Games rules where a guy from each team comes in every few minutes. It was Hogan & Savage against like 8 or 9 guys at once.

      • Anonymous says:

Wrong. Guys came into the match in waves, comparable to a War Games. So, on the top level, Flair and Anderson started the match, while their teammates, on lower levels, waited their turn to enter the match up.

        • LP1 says:

Not comparable to War Games at all. It was more comparable to a Gauntlet Match if anything. In fact, the rules of the match were that Hogan and Savage had to run through each level and escape the cage to win. Of course, this being WCW, both Hogan and Savage left the cage early and then went back in and continued the match and then left the cage a second time only for Savage to come back in and inexplicably pin Flair, which wasn’t part of the rules at all. One of the worst PPV main events in history.

  13. john peterson says:

this set looks sick. Can’t wait for it

  14. charlie f says:

Disc 1 looks awesome. Disc 2 pretty cool, blu ray extras will be nice to see.

  15. Pedro says:

As an 11 year old I watched wrestling off and on, but in the Summer of 1987 I came across a commercial on TBS for the Great American Bash tour. This commercial for the War Games The Match Beyond grabbed me and I was hooked. I sure hope they have that commercial on the DVD. By far one of my favorite match concepts and really looking forward to this BluRay

  16. Marty says:

Fantastic set! Probably the leading contender for release of the year. Well laid out having the JCP/WCW stuff as the main program, and the spinoff matches from other promotions as blu ray exclusives.

I would encourage all to give the 1994 match a good rewatch (only mentioning it as most have made “everything’s great up until 1992” type comments). The 1994 match, in my opinion, deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as the usual suspects (1987, 1991, 1992, etc.). It’s a bloodless Wargames, but the action is still incredible and a fine blowoff to the Rhodes vs. Stud Stable feud.

  17. NoNoYesYes!! says:

WOW this looks great, Nice Job WWE im loving these WCW releases, never watched WCW Back in the days even tho i was a little kid, Grew up Watch WWF and WWE, But as my collection has grown on dvds/blu rays and my knowledge on Wrestling has grown and now i know lot of stuff within 2-3 years span i have much more appreciation as wrestling as whole, thats the great thing about professional wrestling you can always learn about the wrestling past history and enjoy the product that is now even though its not at the height it use to be but is still strong in my opinion,
My WCW dvds has grown, Have rise and fall of wcw, wcw clash of champions blu ray, best of nitro volume 1, NWO Revolution blu ray, starrcade esstional collection, history of the world heavyweight championship, Just loving these old school WCW Matches so i cant wait for this one looks like a cracking set,

P.S Daniel can you remove my comments on Moderation Please, gets annoying and i just want to comment on articles on here on this great website and im truly sorry from the bottom of heart about what happened last time, people on here do get on your nerves but i should have expected better of myself not to go on their level, Iv learnt my lesson and just want it to go back to how it use to be with my comments being held for moderation, So at least take this into consideration and i would really appreciate.
    thanks.

  18. Arkam says:

    Finally!!!! matches list is here

  19. Steven Jackson says:

I’m sold on it having WarGames 1992 which is said to be the best WarGames match of all-time. I’m not too keen on the looks of the later WarGames Matches post 1992, but it’ll be a fun experience watching all these matches together. I’m impressed they’ve put the SMW Wargames match up as I believe somewhere I read that Meltzer gave it ***** but that might have just been an SMW fanboy trying to pass off as Meltzer. Nevertheless, this looks a fun set and I’m glad the DVD has been finally made.

  20. Y2Jerichoholic says:

woooooooow! they did put a match involving benoit?! really appreciated this move by wwe!

  21. RCS1988 says:

Pretty good set. The only other war games match that may have been filmed was this one. Dusty Rhodes, Lex Luger, Sting, Nikita Koloff, & Paul Ellering defeated NWA World Champion Ric Flair, NWA US Champion Barry Windham, JJ Dillon, NWA Tag Team Champions Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard in Wargames when Dillon submitted to Luger’s Torture Rack 7/2/88.

  22. Luke says:

Wow…what a great set! Can’t wait to get the blu-ray to relive some of my favorites from 87-92, and on top of that…some awesome exclusives that I’ve never seen. Glad to see the Smoky Mountain library being utilized. The positive response so far is as close to unanimous as you’re ever going to find when it comes to feedback on this site. Take note WWE. Well done.

  23. DrFever says:

    War Games 92!!!!!!

I might cry I’m so happy.

  24. Steve says:

I’m very critical of WWE Home Video but I must give credit where it is due. Fabulous listing and love the ECW match exclusives! Plus they left on Benoit! Nicely Done!

  25. King Shabazz says:

I’m in! The listing is solid (though some of it is kinda’ filler-Shockmaster anyone?). I’m jazzed about those ’87-’88 matches. Been a long time since we heard Dusty take a beating, drop to his knees and shout out the Lord’s name in vein…good times are here again!

  26. Mark says:

Great listing! It is a must buy for me!

  27. wrestlingfan says:

This is a definite must buy for me, I loved the old NWA war games matches.

  28. chrisH says:

The ECW match from December 1995 in the Blu-ray exclusives is a great addition as ECW never aired it on TV and never released it on home video.

  29. R&REXPRESS#1 says:

What? Putting the Rock & Roll Express on the blue ray extras is just wrong LOL all’s I got is a DVD player….damn it!!

  30. LP1 says:

If WWE were to have held off and released this a few years down the line then they could’ve included a few other Blu-ray exclusives like the TNA Lethal Lockdown matches. 😉

    I kid, I kid.

  31. LP1 says:

This looks likes a complete anthology as every one of the War Games matches that were taped are included on this. Obviously the ones from the house shows that weren’t taped aren’t included which is probably why it can’t be called a “Complete Anthology”, but it’s as close as we can get. Day 1 buy for sure.

  32. john rega says:

Very happy with this list. Im even happy that they kept the match with Chris Benoit on there too. Can’t wait to get the bluray. That you WWE

  33. Ryan says:

Looks good. I knew they would have room for all of them.

I was really hoping for a rare one from 88. I guess no more were taped unfortunately.

  34. Vincenzzzzzo says:

Very nice match listing for this set. Like the Blu-ray exclusives, too. SMW never gets any recognition on these compilation sets. Good to see. Looking forward to watching the old school NWA battles between Dusty and the Horsemen.

  35. SRB says:

This is a fantastic listing and a must for the BD purchase. I also see here now why the ECW thing is included and don’t mind it as an extra one bit. Glad to see the match with Warrior is here too. Not that the match was a classic or anything, but I hate when they sip matches like on the hell in a cell set where Boss man/Taker from WM 15 was missing

  36. stub says:

Can’t wait for this to be released, might just have to go and buy a blue ray player as the extras are awesome too.

  37. KarlKayfabian says:

One of the very best match listings ever. That is not hyperbole, just fact. Bravo, WWE!
I really hope Ventura’s commentary stays intact on the ’92 & ’93 matches.

  38. ck says:

The War Machine, aka: Big Bubba Rogers!

  39. Nate says:

Everything is there that should be……..and the Tower of Doom is a nice extra touch as are the Blue Ray extras. First day buy

  40. NickP says:

    YES YES YES

  41. Mr Z says:

I’ll definitely be buying this as soon as it goes on sale.

  42. Hot Rod says:

    Sounds incredible!

  43. Troy says:

    The Shockmaster!!!

  44. Jack sparrow says:

I love the listing. Lots of un-released material and 2 ECW matches as BR extras. That’s awesome since it doesn’t take away from the main feature. As a long time fan of war games and the fact that I was at the last (current) war games in Dallas from nitro, this is a first day buy. Good stuff so far this year.

  45. Acemon says:

This one IS worth getting. The complete War Games Matches in NWA-WCW history. Can’t wait…

  46. nightmare says:

Yea this one I will buy for sure been waiting for this one I am glade that they are also going to include the War Game Triple Cage match as well which i think was the last war games I think

  47. jgreeds says:

    Take my money now.

  48. David says:

Its a great match! and the only War Games rated 5* by Dave Meltzer. The match was just brutal with amazing storytelling and lots of blood.

    • Steven Jackson says:

Meltzer rated two WarGames matches ***** : The 1992 Match and also the WarGames match from 1991 which is on this set too =) as well as on Pillman: Loose Cannon.

  49. Anonymous says:

Oh okay. Now I get it. The Blu-Ray matches are other promotions that were inspired by WarGames. Kinda like the Elimination Chamber and Lethal Lockdown. That makes more sense now. Can’t wait to buy this.

  50. pmdmf says:

Glad to see the 1992 match made it. Having never seen it, I finally get a chance to see what everyone is talking about.

  51. Domenic says:

I WILL BE BUYING THIS SET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  52. CrimeDawg says:

Thanks for posting this…WOW..can I just go on and pre-order this one now.

  53. David says:

Looks great! i’m liking that the Blu-ray exclusives include variations of the War games match from ECW and SMW and the main feature consists of just WCW. Nice touch.

Had a feeling the ECW match was an extra or exclusive and not part of the main program.
