I’m excited about this BLU-RAY edition with documentary about the”Macho Man & also the matches aren’t already on PPV.S & matches from other DVDS.THANK U for that.
Can’t wait for this one! I have the previous Savage set of matches but this will be great because of the documentary. The 2 matches I hoped for (vs Warrior at SummerSlam 92 and vs Ric Flair at SuperBrawl 96) are included! This will be a must-have for me and any wrestling fan.
Anybody know if Venturas commentary will be included?
As Andy Ace R pointed out, 90% of this set has unreleased material. Going by that, this is pretty much a Randy Savage Unreleased Collection set. The match listing is phenomenal. Can’t help but admit that I wish they had a few live event matches, the match against Jake Roberts on SNME in 92 and the aftermath of that match, vs Warrior at WM7, his Survivor Series 1991 return, and matches at WM3, WM4, WM5, and WM8 against his respective opponents: Ricky Steamboat, Ted DIbiase, Hulk Hogan, and Ric Flair. The wedding with Elizabeth at Summerslam 91 and the wedding reception along with his WWE debut in I believe 1985 would’ve been great to include too. I know some of these were on the previous Savage set. But that was just a DVD whereas the upcoming set also has a blu ray edition.
Again, not complaining as there’s no reason to. As it is, this is sure to be a #1 seller just due to its anticipation alone.
I’ve seen comments pertaining to the documentary and people complaining about its length. While I would not mind a longer length documentary, sometimes longer isn’t necessarily better as they spend too much time focusing on one thing. And no matter the length, some aspects of Savage’s career may likely be losses over or completely ignored in favor of focusing on other things.
I think the spokesperson portion of the documentary will be about Slim Jim. Savage did a lot of Slim Jim commercials. They might be included via hidden easter eggs. But none are officially listed as being part of the set. It’d be a nice never before released inclusion.
Perhaps whatever they left off is being saved for a future Savage set or a Macho Man special for the WWE Network that I’m guessing would be aired to coincide with his HOF induction or the release date of his upcoming set. Just speculating here so I could be wrong.
You have contributed nothing.
Just a quick update for those that might have pre-ordered the Collector’s Edition at that amazing price on Bestbuy.com…they have assured me the bouncing of the release dates from 11/18 to 9/30 and back and forth will be attended to by their tech staff immediately as apparently there was a glitch in their system that caused them to keep sending all these e-mails back and forth, but the official release date is still 11/18/2014 for this set.
This raises a question.. I wonder if the dvd will also feature the aftermath that took place after the Savage/Flair match in where Razor Ramon attacks and brutally assaults Macho Man.. I hope they include it all.
ppl, wanting more of Macho’s wcw ppv matches: well.. there’s gotta be material enough for a second volume of wcw’s greatest ppv matches, would’nt you agree!? 😉
Wow.. I am so happy with this DvD set.. I can’t wait for November. 90% of this set features unreleased footage. I wish that they squeezed in Macho Man vs Jake The Snake
from Saturday Night’s Main Event in Feb. 92.. However. I am extremely thrilled that we got Savage vs Flair from Hershey PA in Sep. 92… Along with the 2 Steamboat matches, from Superstars in 86 and from Maple Leaf Gardens in 87 and the 6 Man Cage Match from Boston in 1988.. Those 4 matches are worth the price of the DVD itself!!
Same here. I remember they played the Savage vs. Flair from Sept 1992 on Vintage Collection a couple years ago and i thought it was very good, even though it was sort of clipped, which i think was only for the broadcast and i don’t believe it was on any Coliseum Video release. Still great to have this match and bunch of other unreleased gems.
Glad WWE dug deep into their vault to include these matches. Only match i wish they included was vs. Sting from Spring Stampede 1998 since that was Savage’s last title win before he had the gimmick change in 1999 and Macho Madness had his last title win.
People that complain about this set are the people that really will never be happy whatever WWE releases. WWE could have taken the easy route and just include mostly PPV matches. But they kept the Network in mind when choosing, and honestly the only repeat match I see is vs. DDP from HH 97 and i guess you can say vs. UW from SS 92 but that was only on the FYE version of the Self Destruction of Ultimate Warrior DVD and of course the SS Anthology. The match with Flair from Superbrawl 96 is not on any other DVD/Blu-ray release.
This will compliment well with Macho Madness and a definite day 1 pickup.
Macho Man Randy Savage vs. Booker T from WCW Nitro December 15, 1997 this match is also on the best of Nitro Volume 2,
Rest are pretty Much unreleased, never knew the Halloween Hovac 97 match with DDP is on another set what set is that then? there match is from GAB 97 is on the 1st set if i remember correctly!!
DDP vs. Savage from Havoc 97 was on nWo The Revolution.
SHUT UP & TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!!!
So the only repeat from Macho Madness is the Shawn Michaels match ? Seems odd they needed to repeat that one
I don’t think it’s the same match. If i remember correctly, the HBK match from the first set was in London, UK.
Chump is right. The match from Macho Madness is from April 19, 1992 called European Rampage and took place in the UK.
Differently constructed match, with a different finish.
Differently constructed match, with a different finish.
Couple of important historic matches on here that haven’t been released on DVD yet. You very rarely see early Superstars matches released. I assume it was because Bruno and Jesse were on commentary with Vince. I’ve been waiting on a good, clean copy of the “bell match” for a long time. It was great before the angle kicked in, even.
Then Flair over Savage for the title from Prime Time, finally being released. Would buy based on those two alone.
Unfortunately, we won’t be getting a “good, clean copy” as it will be bastardized by the removal of Ventura’s commentary.
As great as randy savage was, I can’t believe the the wwe has done 2 dvd sets on him before one on Andre the giant.wrestler mania 3 which Andre stars in put the wwe on the map. A lot of young people have not really seen him in his prime, don’t understand.
I don’t see why Macho Madness couldn’t be re-released as a four disc set with the new documentary along with a few rare matches for the extras along with the previously released matches & promos rather than releasing a whole new set entirely. just adding my own two cents.
Personally speaking I would much prefer a whole new set over one which I already have with a little new content. #mytwocents
I don’t mind the match listing considering all his greatest matches are already on Macho Madness. I’m getting this purely for the documentary.
Where’s the chapter when Steph talks about when Savage banged her in the @ss in 1994?
That is total f**king false
what?? r u serious? anal sex?
Disappointed in match listings. Why can’t WWE have rare matches from TV tapings on this set? Instead of Duggan Savage from MSG, they should of had the full match where Savage beats Duggan for the crown. They only show the ending and aftermath. They should of also included the Hogan & Savage vs. Honky & Hart Foundation match from Huntsville, Al 1/5/88, and they should of had the match where Savage pins Undertaker from Portland, ME 7/30/91. I’ll just get the documentary from someone.
I guess you complain and bitch about every dvd don’t you SMFH
I don’t complain about every DVD, but if a DVD I think should have rare footage that has not been seen anywhere, then it should be on there. If Lanny Poffo had match input, then I think the listings would be slightly different. I asked him a few months ago if he had match input for the DVD, and he said he doesn’t. WWE prefers to make all the match choices, so most likely we will never see dark match footage, unless WWE decides to take suggestions from fans.
Finally, the Superstars match with steamboat from 86 is on dvd/blu-ray. Worth the price alone.
Do ne of the Vs Ric Flair matches include the match that they had w/the fight over Elizabeth❓
Impressive I must say, I was concerned that there would be a lot of re-releases from the 2009 set on here but as far as I can tell there is absolutely none….nice!!
I wish there was a match or two from his Memphis wrestling days, it would’ve showed why he was so “Savage”. I would’ve like to see more of his WCW matches and a few promos to cover the extras rather than the Booker T match which already is on the chapter listing on The Best of Nitro volume 2. Would’ve preferred his WCW World War 3 victory. Still I might just stick to the Macho Madness dvd.
I guess I’m just gonna face the fact Spring Stampede 1998’s match will never be on a set >_< this is why I love the network!
Easily the release of 2014.
Great!!! The WWF championship match from September 1992 against Ric Flair is on it!!! I think I never saw this match where Flair regain the title just to lose it to Bret Hart 1 month later in Saskatoon.
This is a great match listing.Lots of house shows matches is a good thing.
I wish they had the Flair vs Savage match from Nitro in Feb96, it’s a long forgotten rematch from wen Savage beat Flair in Jan…..Also the Flair/Savage match from GAB95..Also forgotten
Flair/Savage from GAB 95 Is on the GAB DVD
Which you can win, right here –> http://www.wrestlingdvdnews.com/win-great-american-bash-summerslam-2014-dvd/72594/ #plug 😉
Do u think “True Love” has to do with Savage and Stephanie?
No, it has to do with Savage getting married right before he died.
I figured it would be about Hogan & Liz.
apparently i dont think best buy can make up their mind about when the release date is they sent me 4 emails going from releasing on 11/18 to 9/30 to 11/18 to 9/30 i dont know what to believe anymore Im hoping 9/30 even though you mentioned in the other article that its released on 11/18
November 18 is and always has been the release date. It has never been under dispute on this site.
Matche’s look okay, but only one main match interests me & that is the one that I have wanted on Blu-Ray for years…
Ultimate Warrior Vs Macho Man for the WWE Title at Summerslam92❗️
+ Im also looking forward to the xtra Blu-Ray stories & the Main Disc1 Documentary.
This set looks absolutely brilliant. It will be a great complimentary set to the first one released back in 2009. I am sad that Macho Man will not be interviewed in the documentary. But I can put that aside as the extras more than make up for it.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
This will be good, was looking for a few more nWo matches but oh well, guess I will have to get the Network for only $9.99.
This set looks amazing! The WWE Network has put a dent into my DVD collecting, I will admit, but this is a set I will most certainly be getting. A few of these matches, more than a few really, have never been released on WWE DVD before and are not available on the Network. The most notable is the WWF World Heavyweight Championship match between Savage and Flair from the 9/14/92 edition of Prime Time Wrestling (the match was actually taped on 9/1/92, for those who care), that saw Flair win his 2nd and final WWF World title. This match has never seen the light of day outside of the one time it aired on PTW and the single time is was released on Coliseum Home Video. Very rare. Disc 3 is the weak spot for this set, it has the most repeats by far, but Disc 2 is LOADED with great WWF memories from an era that many of us wish would come back if even for a day. The documentary is subjective, I know people who hate the CM Punk and ECW docs while I think they are two of the best the WWE has ever put together. Anyways, this set, for historical reasons, is a killer of a set. Any fan of WWF/E should have this penciled in on the calender. This set, coupled with the EXCELLENT Ultimate Collection that was released some years back is the most complete picture of Randy Savage’s career that we as fans will ever see in our lives. This reminds of the Hogan discs from back then. The Ultimate Anthology followed by the unreleased set. A complete career retrospective on 6 discs. Amazing…
Looks good to me as a huge Mach fan although I was hoping for some earlier material to be included. I hope Vince is featured in the documentary and that he will spill the beans on their relationship. Also, I really hope that they do not white wash the fact that Randy was persona non grata for all those years. But for now, they can shut up and take my money!
Who ever said they interviewed his widow, Lynn? That has never been reported.
Anything Savage is great, but this is a tad underwhelming. Some of these were expected, some didn’t warrant inclusion on a project like this… Although most of Mach’s best stuff is available on other releases, I still find this list to be ‘blah’… Including some promos and segments that were unlikely to be seen otherwise would have certainly helped. Hope the doc is ‘all that’, but the uninspired extras listing isn’t injecting me with a ton of hope.
Really? I feel differently. Looks like we’ll probably get a half hour of stories and the 4 extra matches look pretty good to me. Very true that the best stuff is already out there like his WM3 match. We don’t need that again along with his title win at WM4. The only match I find avoidable is his bout with Hacksaw, but their program was great with the whole crown and all that. Good feud. I would’ve like to have seen a tag match with Hogan. Not sure if the Mega-Powers ever did any matches not televised though.
Don’t forget the Collector’s Edition will package this with the 2009 “Macho Madness” release. So together you get Randy Savage’s most famous matches, and some of his ‘forgotten’ bouts.
worth my money. can’t wait
Decent listing. A couple of matches I wish were on there were against Orndorff at the Spectrum, Billy Jack late 86 from Challege IIRC ( he had 2) and the bloodbath with Steamboat from 86 at Maple Leaf. None of these were classics except with the possible Steamboat one since the Coliseum version is clipped so it’s hard to tell.
Still a must buy as I enjoy the documentaries.
This match listing is nothing short of truly amazing. Just so sad Randy will have no role in it.
I agree. Too bad they didn’t release a documentary while Randy was alive, would have been great to actually hear comments from him. I guess the next best thing is his brother Lanny Poffo and I believe WWE interviewed his widow who was with him when he died in the car accident.
Other than that the listing looks great, so many rare gems. I don’t think I’ve seen any of these matches, except for the three PPV ones. Glad WWE are finally digging deep into their vault and not just adding PPV matches. Now it entices people to buy the DVDs or Blu-rays while still having the Network.
It’s nice to see some matches from WCW Saturday Night are going to be included. There was a time when that show would have great matches.
Can’t wait to get this on blu ray in Nov.18…WWE thankfully did not screw this up…#superpumpedup
ooooooh yeaaaaaah.. it IS official.. 😉
I can not wait to experience the Harlem Street fight against Bad News Brown..
Bad News Brown was sooooo viscious.. often underrated and “forgotten” in history.. maybe shorten out on impact than others from 80’s.. but, hell, when he nailed that Ghetto Blaster, maaaan ooooh maaaaan, that gotta hurt.. 😉
hence.. alot more painfull deliver of Bad News than Barrett..
