Notice the ignoring of Warrior at Wrestlemania 8 til July 1992. It is because the WM8 Warrior was different from the previous one that disappeared. The current “Warrior” took over in July 1992. Look for yourself before you just call me names. There were 3 televised “warrior”
Warrior does address his “different” appearance in one of his segments. They also use footage from the post-WrestleMania 8 press conference as well when talking about this.
Idiot.
Surprised nobody mentioned when he and Hercules broke the chain. Idk, I think they could’ve added some better matches than Steve Lombardi and Brian Costello.
I was shocked they didn’t have a match w/Papa Shango on this set or the Halloween Havoc 1998 match w/Hogan on here. I Would of loved to have seen a match w/Earthquake as well but it does leave it open for the next set w/his Hall Of Fame speech to be filled some pretty damn cool matches also.
According to wwe uk dvd site this is also a bluray extra…
The Ultimate Challenge – 25th March 1990
WrestleMania VI Contract Signing
Somewhere,Triple H was not pleased that they included his match with Warrior on this set.
I’m so glad they did, that’s the only Triple H match I’ve seen that didn’t make me want to gouge my eyes out. Ultimate Warrior carried him though that match.
This is looking like a great set.. I’m definitely picking this up on April 1st… Great choice of matches they chose for this Warrior set. I would have added Warrior vs Papa Shango from Lexington, Kentucky in 1992 just for historical purposes along with some of the segments where Papa Shango curses Warrrior..as well as Warrior vs Goldust in the KOTR Qualifying Match on RAW in May of 96..and even tho it sucked, I wouldn’t mind the Hogan vs Warrior match from WCW in 98..just so the set would seem somewhat complete..Nevertheless, a great set with a lot of unreleased footage..Can’t wait to get it.:)
This sounds like a good dvd set. I’ll probably pick it up. There are some matches that are being left off. They don’t have WrestleMania 5 with warrior vs. rude or the Halloween havoc match with warrior vs. Hogan. I’ll probably pick it up, anyway. looks like a good set.
I know personally Warrior’s team worked hard on this set. You have to remember there will be 2 DVDs. This and a bio. Both sets will be complete and compliment the other. I think having the unreleased shit on here is bad ass. I want it now!
Just outta curiosity, does anyone have pics of what the discs look like in the DVD set?
My guess would be just his Warrior logo icon on each disc but a different color for each.
I see they’ve included the promo with Lawler when Warrior wears a baseball cap indicating that he’s about to be hit over the head with something.
Personally, I found the listing to be very disappointing …pretty much everything I hoped for isn’t here. None of the 6 man tags with the LOD against Demolition, no sign of the infamous Summerslam 91 match & the section on WCW is really lacking (not even a single match!!!??) & had hoped for the match from Nitro where he teamed with Sting & yes, I also wanted the Halloween Havoc re-match with Hogan as bad as it was….I had planned to pick this up on day #1 but now I have to contemplate getting it at all.
There are 2 WCW in-ring segments included. Why are people hung up on having a WCW match, when the only 2 possible inclusions are almost universally recognized as horrible? I suggest any one acting appalled at the exclusion of Warrio/Sting vs Hart/Hogan look the segment up on YouTube and you’ll probably come away understanding why it wasn’t included on this set.
I don’t care how good or bad people think the matches were. I am a hardcore Ultimate Warrior fan. I want every possible match I can get. I would buy a DVD w/only his WCW stuff. Every match, Interview, promo, vignette whatever I don’t care. When it comes to the Ultimate Warrior…Too much is never enough, I want more.
I think its pretty good, i’m surprised there was enough good/memorable matches to be left out. Maybe in the future they can do a part two including the HOF speech.
I was looking for some of the Surivor Series matches, a few more WM matches, also the match with Slaughter where he lost the belt too. But you can’t fit in everything.
Go look back at Bret Hart’s first DVD release, you can’t tell me that listing was perfect either, in my opinion far from it.
A few more WM matches? Who’s were you hoping were on here? Because Warrior only had two others, aside of what is included. So I’m not sure you really know what you want… Trust the listing, whoever put it together knows Warrior’s career and history better than you.
I’m actually considering getting this set. Although the Warrior’s not one of my favourite wrestlers a lot of classic and forgotten gems are on this DVD collection, which interest me. I will see what the reviews say first and I probably won’t get it till it is in the sales, but it is definitely appealing. Good job WWE and the Ultimate Warrior =)
Even though Hogan/Warrior 2 was ass it would have been nice. I think his wcw match with sting would have been a fitting ending given they are the opening match on the DVD. Either way I am pumped for this.
I can’t believe people are complaining about lack of WCW matches. He had a grand total of 3 freaking matches in WCW! 3! The Hogan match at Halloween Havoc which was one of the worst matches ever(I don’t know how anyone would want that match), the War Games match from Fall Brawl(where he does a run-in late in the match and barely fights anyone) and the tag match with Sting against Hogan & Bret that I think went less than 5 minutes and Warrior was in the ring for about 30 seconds total towards the end. You’re not missing anything special.
For some reason, I thought he had 4 matches. Fall Brawl/War Games, him and Sting vs Hart/Hogan, and Halloween Havoc. Didnt he do something with “Anvil” Neidhart too?
Surprising listing especially with the squash matches. Pre-ordered it & cant wait to watch it. However, im disappointed with lack of big man matches like Haku, Earthquake, & Vader plus even its considered one of the worst matches, Hogan-Warrior 2 would have been a good fit.
I agree with RCS1988. Horrendous listings. Should have used more early stuff from other promotions and unreleased dark matches from tv tapings. I am a huge Warrior fan but have 20 of the 26 matches so its definitely not worth it for me to buy this set.
I will buy the Blu-Ray release of “Ultimate Warrior: The Ultimate Collection” in very early April. WWE did a very good job with the content listing on this one. There’s nothing wrong with having four squash matches on here because they’re historically significant to Ultimate Warrior building momentum and a big fan base in the late 1980’s. WWF fans had never seen anyone like The Ultimate Warrior before. There are 31 matches on the Blu-Ray version. But, I knew all along that there would be a lot of Ultimate Warrior WWF matches that I wish that WWE would finally issue on Blu-Ray that would be completely left off of this April 1st Blu-Ray release. It’s unfortunate that there are no Ultimate Warrior WWF matches on here versus Ric Flair, Haku, The Nasty Boys, Earthquake, Owen Hart, Papa Shango, Nailz, Kamala, Hercules and numerous others. It’s impossible to put all of the good Ultimate Warrior WWF stuff on one release. Hopefully, WWE will eventually issue an “Ultimate Warrior: Unreleased Collector’s Series” Blu-Ray at some point, but that won’t be for a long, long, long time because WWE always waits years and years to issue a second or third DVD or Blu-Ray release of a WWF/WWE wrestler. So, I wouldn’t be surprised if WWE waits until next decade to put out the third Ultimate Warrior WWE DVD release.
Nice listing. Was hoping the WCW match with Hogan would make it on there as a blu ray extra if not on the main set.
Better than I anticipated. Will definitely buy this.
surprise they can squeeze out so many matches. unfortunately most are jobber matches and repeats.
Including the blu-ray extras, I count 42 archival segments in this listing… 6 matches that have been released previously on dvd. Most are not repeats.
This looks amazing
watch the warrior vs andre the giant match at madison square garden. Its a great match, cant wait to buy this dvd.Can we get a sting or andre the giant dvd collection
I am very impressed with the match listing! I will be buying!
This is incredible! They really went out of their way to not have cliche PPV matches and instead put all kinds of unreleased stuff on here. This completely exceeds my expectations. The only thing I’m upset about is not much from 1998 WCW but oh well that wasn’t exactly his greatest hour. Having a bunch of squashes and interviews to go along with the big matches is great, and was the one thing I was disappointed with in the Goldberg set. Plus, I got the one match I truly wanted which was the one vs Dibiase in 1990. I am all over this.
Looks pretty good overall. With anything that comes out it could be improved. I would of picked a different Blade Runners match. Maybe the the one against Doc and DiBiase from the Sam Houston Coliseum would of been a better choice. The segments seem like they will be pretty good.. Slightly disappointed they didn’t put a Hercules match or the Summerslam 92 match.I guess that’s okay since they did put those on the first Warrior set bonus disc. First day purchase none the less.
Looks like a solid match listing great cover aswell, not really interested in another warrior set but. Hoping that a new hogan set and sting set get made!!!
This will sell crazy! Maybe it will be the #1 WWE DVD. Warrior Rules!
I wish they would’ve included the summerslam 92 match with savage I would’ve bought it then,im gonna have to pass on this one
Sooooo, does that mean you’re gonna rush out and buy the SummerSlam Anthology vol. 1 dvd set then? That match has been available on that for the past 5 years. If on,e already on dvd, match was going to be your determining factor on whether or not you were purchasing this, you’d think maybe you’d own that match already.
I congratulate WWE for saving us the pain by limiting the amount of WCW stuff to 2. His 1996 run was bad.
I mean 1998.
It’s great that there are unreleased matches with Harley Race, Randy Savage and Rick Rude on this.
But, I’m still passing.
I just can’t justify paying for a set with Steve Lombardi, Barry Horowitz, Brian Costello or Bob Bradley when they easily could and should have put on matches against Ric Flair, against Tully Blanchard from the 1989 Survivor Series Showdown, with LOD against Demolition, and with Savage against the Nasty Boys from the 1992 SummerSlam Spectacular show.
I would have liked to see any of the additional matches you listed… But do you really think that the Horowitz match took the place of a Flair match or a 14 minute tag match with Savage? Do you have any concept of time allotments? This collection was obviously put together with some thought and the truth is Warrior’s squash matches meant a whole helluva lot more to his career and character development than a SurvivorSeries showdown match with Tully Blanchard that ends in schmoz. There is so much new content on here, let’s try not to damn the entire listing because one thing we would have liked to see didn’t make the final cut.
Anonymous is just trying to find excuses. Every match listing that comes out he always talks about WWE not putting out unreleased matches and condemns it. Now WWE puts majority of unreleased matches, now trying to nit pick about it shouldn’t have Brooklyn Brawler or Barry Horowitz.
I don’t even think Anonymous buys any WWE merchandise so why should WWE cater to people like him? all he ever does is complain and trash every release.
So if I have a different opinion, I’m supposed to just keep it to myself, right?
The truth is that I haven’t been too happy with many of the WWE’s releases since then end of 2009.
Why? Too many repeats and not enough actual time. Just look how 3 DVD set release times have shrunken to the 6 to 7 hour mark, when we used to get around 10 hours. If they can continue to put out PPV releases that around 3 hours in length, that means there’s no reason why they should have DVD releases that are at least 8 hours long (thereby also allowing for 1 to 2 hours of Blu-Ray exclusives).
That said, I haven’t knocked every release. Off the top of my head, I remember giving glowing recommendations for, among others, the Lesnar, Goldberg, and War Games sets. But, let’s not allow the facts to get in the way of telling a good story (or lie).
This set looks awesome. Even if the Warrior isn’t technically sound, this is as comprehensive a career overview as you can get for him. His most memorable matches, his biggest feuds covered, some interviews, some non-wrestling segments and, of course, some squashes. The only match missing that I was really hoping for was the SNME match between Warrior/LOD and Demolition, but otherwise, no complaints. In terms of content, this is the release of the year so far.
daniel bee do you think there will be any jesse ventura edits on this set. i really hope not. long time lurker first time commenter, love your site. thanks for all you do
I doubt WWE want to give Jesse royalties and they have been muting his commentary out DVD releases the last few years (minus the Anthologies).
This really is a great line-up! I am getting this for sure!
Keep in mind its tied into a documentary but broken up into portions
Looks like a good set, the only thing that will put me off buying it will be the commentary, sorry Vince but no Jesse, no buys.
Jess is needed. He better be on here. Don’t mess this up, WWE!
This is a great collection. There are plenty of gems here and classic Warrior moments. The set could’ve used at least one WCW match though, possibly the tag match against Hogan and Hart when he teamed with Sting.
Im happy with this match selections the only match i wish they would have added warrior and savage vs the nasty boys on prime time challenge.
What is prime time challenge? That same match from “the summer slam spectacular” on USA would have been a welcome addition to this set, but there’s only so much room. Can’t complain about what we do have here.
Barry Horowitz
Steve Lombardi
Bob Bradley
Brian Costello
Wow, never thought I’d see those names on a ‘Best Of’ set.
An ‘Ultimate Collection’ of Ultimate Warrior should have a few squash matches… A big part of what people love and remember about this era of rasslin are Saturday & Sunday morning enhancement matches, and his were certainly unique. This set looks to have a great variety of content. The essential ppv bouts, some rarer matches and some important interview segments/promos directly related to his most memorable feuds.
Also the jobber matches might have something to do w/the build up to certain feuds the Warrior had. W/other popular wrestlers doing run ins & interfering w/the match or coming out after the match or what have you. Like how they did on the Best Of Raw Season 1 & 2 DVD set a couple years ago.
There are some matches that will be on the EXTRAS.
The other matches will be on the next DVD later this year or in 2015/2016 along with Ultimate Warrior’s Hall Of Fame.
Everything I suggested was added to this DVD.
I LOVE IT!… ULTIMATELY!!!!
PRE-ORDERING TOMORROW OR MONDAY!!!!
ULTIMATELY!
This is freakin’ ULTIMATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WARRIOR, WARRIOR, WARRIOR!
One Warrior Nation, FOREVER!
Hell Yeah!!!
You took the words right out of my mouth.
Good set but should have included the below matches
Warrior vs haku from 1989 was very physical
warrior and legend of doom vs demolition
warrior vs ric flair
warrior vs earthquake
This is why I been saying bro, That there will be another DVD later this year or in 2015.
His Hall Of Fame footage will not make it in time for this DVD because it gets released April 1st 2014 before the Hall Of Fame. So there will be another DVD with his Hall Of Fame on it.
Have you seen Warrior v Flair?
Warrior v Slaughter from Tokyo on the blu-ray exclusives is more physical than any Haku bout in 1989. Enjoy
Has some pretty good matches on it without the Blu Ray extras… with the extras I’m pretty much sold!
I’m picking this up when it comes out.
Besides the matches listed
I would’ve included his match with the Road Warriors vs. Demoliton from SNME, the Blade Runners vs. Bret Hart and Hulk Hogan from the October 12th 1998 Monday Nitro (for historical purposes) and even his appearance in the 1998 War Games (again for historical purposes).
I know it’s wishful thinking, but he did wrestle Owen Hart a few times during his 1996 run. There is a lot that was included in this release and I hope it sells well so there can be a second release.
I might’ve done two release, the first being his stuff up to 1992 and the second release being his stuff from 1996 & 1998 and maybe some surprises from his earlier runs.
I´m pretty disappointed by this Warrior collection. Everything seen a thousand times! Why do they always have to put PPV matches in every single DVD collection? I know, defining moments and so on, but come on…
Its pretty stupid to leave out vs. Hogan – WM6 and Savage – WM7…doesn’t matter how many collections they have been on, those were Warrior’s DEFINING matches and likely the best in his career.
If if was up to people like you the set would contain nothing but matches nobody gives a damn about just because they are “unreleased”. Just so you know this set is NOT an unreleased compilation. Its not hard to figure out.
ehh people bitch about any match thats left off a dvd or a repeat its the internet and wrestling fans they are never satisfied with anything but back to warrior dvd hua not bad i guess why they left off hogan warrior 2 when it says he goes to wcw just for that 1 match so leaving it off ??? shrugs. Its not as bad as wcw vol 1 with repeats but its all right maybe 15 bucks walmart might be the max i pay but ehh
Out of 10 I give it 8. I would love to see warrior and lod vs demolition from msg and warrior vs haku but this set will works.
Very excited for this one, match content doesn’t disappoint!
Listing is good, few omissions such as some WCW matches and couple of his 1996 matches. Glad they included House Shows and SNME matches and minimal PPV matches.
vs. Savage from Summerslam would have been a nice addition as well.
“Some WCW matches”… Those familiar with Warrior’s WCW run know that there are not “some matches”… There is the war games match appearance, the havoc match with hogan and the tag match with sting, in which warrior never even removed his sleeved duster. The WCW segments they have selected are Warrior’s shinning moments in that unique but otherwise forgettable run. He does in fact, get physical and clean house on the nWo in the final WCW segment listed.
PS there are a “couple of his 1996 matches” on here.
Yeah, the Warrior vs Savage match from SummerSlam 1992 would have been a great addition on this set. The lead up with who’s corner Mr. Perfect would be in was fantastic. Very nice listing, though.
Part of that lead up is included in showcased in the July 92 interview segment they have included… Okerlund with Savage & Warrior interrupted by Flair & Perfect… All hell breaks loose. Great segment. Fantastic choice for this set.
Good to hear. I don’t remember the pre match interview that much, but I do remember Flair and Perfect coming to ringside during the SNME Ultimate Maniacs vs Money Inc. match. Good times.
WTF no matches with Kamala, Flair, & Nailz? WWE filmed this stuff. This was the perfect oppertunity to use them, and instead they go with stuff people have seen. Is it because there is no commentary on those matches. There was no commentary on the Rockers Hart Foundation tag title match and that was on a DVD. I’m dissapointed. Hopfully, is this sells somehow, that they come out with an Unreleased Collector’s Series DVD & blu-ray set. Hopfully the RAW DVD set has dark matches from the early years and not just stuff from the late 90’s to present.
What matches would have you left off in place of Kamala & Nailz bouts?
Wow, 14 matches in disc 1 but 6 matches on disc 2 & 3 only?!? What gives man!
Disc 2 is admittedly light, but Disc 3 is packed w/ segments & matches.
That’s almost everything I wanted and much more! I would added these matches though
The Ultimate Warriors vs. The Heenan Family – Survivor Series 1989
w/ Hulk Hogan vs. Mr. Perfect & The Genius – SNME 1990
The Ultimate Warriors vs. The Perfect Team – Survivor Series 1990
Grand Finale Match of Survival – Survivor Series 1990
vs. Randy Savage – SummerSlam 1992
Those are all available on dvd already… This listing seems to have focused on unreleased content, aside of the inclusion of his essential/defining PPV matches. I, like most collectors, appreciate the abundance of previously unavailable matches & segments.
We get to see the Brooklyn Brawler AND Barry Horrowitz job to the Warrior! That’s worth the price alone!
Even though the match itself wasn’t very good, I think the Warrior vs. Hogan match from Halloween Havoc should have been on the set or at the very least a blu ray exclusive. Ugly to watch, but held importance in his career I would say.
Decent match listing, would’ve been better had it had less squash matches and more against bigger name stars. I would’ve liked to have seen his promos on the extras too but whatever works I guess. I’m picking this one up, for sure 🙂
Overall, a good selection of matches and I see myself picking this one up.
I know people are going to complain about the number of “repeat” matches (i.e. vs. Hogan at WM6 and Savage at WM7) but you can’t call it an “ultimate collection” of the Warrior’s matches without them.
I like they included bouts from MSG, Toronto and Boston rather than just regular TV or PPV bouts. A few more squash matches than I figured there would be but those typically don’t last long anyway so no big deal.
Doesn’t seem too bad of a set, kind of wish they had some wcw matches, but if I recall correctly those were not the best.
Wasn’t too excited for this one but now I kinda am. There isn’t too many repeats from prior releases other than the obivous ones from big ppvs. Gonna have to pick it up
