This one will be the major WWE DVD and Blu-ray release of July.

It’s worth noting that there are no matches featured from WWE’s version of the Great American Bash pay-per-view event, despite the official synopsis for the DVD suggesting that there might be. Going off the chapter headings, it appears Dusty Rhodes may be hosting.

Australian fans, “United We Slam” will be officially released on August 8th. You’ll be able to pre-order a copy on DVD or Blu-ray format from WWEDVD.com.au in the coming weeks.

  1. Chris says:

Anyone know where this July ’88 Road Warriors vs. Sting & Luger match is supposed to be from. I checked that tour and it doesn’t look like they faced each other at any point that tour. They teamed up several times but I don’t see any event card where they were against each other.

It says it’s from the Charlotte show, but the card for that show has the Road Warriors facing Ivan Koloff and the Russian Assassin, and Sting & Luger teaming with Dusty, Ivan & Ellering against the Four Horsemen in a War Games match.

I don’t see any ’89 GAB shows where they faced each other, either. It can’t be from before ’88, since Sting & Luger hadn’t teamed yet.

I can see that they faced each other a lot in November and December of ’88 but I don’t see any instance of it happening before then.

    Something’s not right there.

Sting & Luger teaming with Dusty, Nikita* & Ellering against the Four Horsemen in a War Games match

      *edit

    • Mark D says:

We suspect it’s an error of sorts. Your right there wasn’t that match until later that year when the Warriors turned. As soon as we get clarification, we’ll post it.

  2. Brad Attitude says:

    Take me money already 😀

  3. Wonderllama says:

I don’t care if I have the WWE network. I love match compilations, especially WCW ones! This looks great… bring on WCW’s Greatest PPV Matches Vol. 2!

  4. James says:

Pre Network this would have been a great release

  5. Nick says:

    I want
    Sting vs Regal from 96
    Luger vs Flair from 88
    Jericho vs HBK from 08

    To be bluray exclusives

  6. R&REXPRESS#1 says:

Great match list!! I’m with everyone who said they were happy that the wwe years weren’t included, although, I was wanting the “concrete crypt” match between Undertaker & the Dudley’s. Can someone tell me what happened to the Rhodes vs Flair match from Greensboro where Dusty won the world title in the cage? That’s a classic & should’ve been included.

    • Nick says:

That concrete crypt match has already been released on the undertakers DVD

    • LP1 says:

The Flair vs Rhodes Cag match from Greensboro where Rhodes won the Title IS included. That match took place on July 26, 1986, they just have the wrong city listed. I don’t know how something like that can happen. That combined with the Sting/Luger vs Warriors match listing mistake is just lazy work. All they need is one person whose sole job is to make sure details like that are correct and they can’t even do that.

  7. Raven Effect says:

Glad the WWE garbage won’t be on here.

Even though I expected it, still disappointed to see it over-saturated with as much Flair & Dusty (along with current WWE yes-men) but disc three and some of disc two begins to provide some quality variety. I am pumped they put those two from the GAB 1998 but the Booker/Benoit match truthfully stole the show that night. I hate giving WWE my money but will be buying this.

  8. LJN Jake Roberts says:

So happy they went exclusively with WCW matches, I’ll get this fer sure! Still not happy they stuck my arms in a weird position that makes it impossible for me to ever give a DDT 🙁

  9. isr4life says:

This would be worth getting to me since I like ppv sets
But it doesnt include the wwe version of the bash that I thought
they were going to put on there.

I bet there be a 4 disk version of that somewhere be cool like the olden days ahh daniel?

  10. Erik G. says:

    Ultimo Dragon! Mike Awesome!

This is a pleasant surprise. I assume that Goldberg/Konnan and Hogan/Kidman will be on the exclusives. WWE did a nice job of leading into the Hogan tag match and DDP/Savage on WCW PPV Matches, so I assume Hogan/Kidman was also have the same done for it. That was a blu-ray exclusive for that set, also, so it would make sense. I agree with what others said about Sting/Regal and Mysterio/Malenko. Now I’m even more excited about this set.

  11. Mike says:

Looks pretty good, for the most part. I hope Malenko-Mysterio Jr from GAB 96 is a Blu-Ray exclusive. That’s a glaring omission that stands out… I think it was Mysterio Jr’s WCW debut, which adds even more importance.

    • Matt says:

It was indeed and I was about to leave this comment before I saw yours. I’d also like to have seen Luger-Koloff from 7/11/87 and Midnights/Fantastics from 7/10/88. Since that Sting/Luger vs. Road Warriors match on the listing has to be an error, and there are no other matches listed from ’88, I’ve got to think either that match for Luger/Flair is on there.

  12. Kenny says:

Is the special commentary on the early matches alternate commentary; or is it the only commentary for those matches?

    • chris says:

The only commentary. Those matches from Disc 1 were from house shows that were taped but never aired on TV (the War Games match, though, was put on a 1987 VHS tape that Crockett released), so they had no commentary. The 2007 Horsemen DVD has a Flair vs. Ricky Morton match from 1986 that has no announcers as well.

  13. SRB says:

Weird there is no WWE Bash stuff as of yet. I hope they do not take up the entire exclusives.

    • David says:

Its possible they might add couple HD matches from the 2008 and 2009 events since they usually do that with Blu-rays.

Also could see them include a match 1991, probably Luger vs. Windham or Sting vs. Koloff which were pretty decent matches.

  14. Carlos says:

I wonder why they don’t include matches from the more recent ones like Jeff hardy vs edge or Batista vs jbl or Chris Jericho vs Rey mysterio

  15. Vincenzzzzzo says:

Nice match listing for this set. Is the “WCW responds to the Outsiders challenge” where Eric Bischoff gets powerbombed off the stage? Same segment?

  16. RCS1988 says:

Good listings. Kind of surprised that there are no matches from the 1991 & 1999 shows, unless they are on the blu-ray. This match Sting & Lex Luger vs. Road Warriors
Charlotte, NC • July, 1988 has to be an error. The Road Warriors faced Ivan Koloff & the Russain Assassin in a Scaffold Match at the Charlotte show.

    • Bix says:

Looks like it’s a giant mistake and they included the 11/25 match that aired a month later on Main Event.

    • Mark D says:

We spotted that when we first got a hold of it, but decided to publish it as per the run sheet.

    • Anonymous says:

The 1991 Bash is one of the worst PPVs ever, and this is a Best of. I’m glad it’s not on there.

      • David says:

Yeah, had a chance to watch GAB 1991 recently, haven’t seen it before and heard it was was one of the worst events ever, so wanted to check it out for myself and boy it really was a stinker.

Sting vs. Koloff and Luger vs. Windham were decent, but those don’t belong on a “best of” set, however I could see WWE include one of those as Blu-ray exclusives. They did include Savage vs. Rodman on Best WCW PPV Matches, so wouldn’t be surprised.

  17. Lemo says:

Fantastic matches listing !!! If only Sting vs Regal is a blu ray exclusive to complete this perfection.

  18. Steven Jackson says:

    Sting and the Great Muta!
    STING and the Great Muta!!
    STING AND THE GREAT MUTA!!!

This match listing look brilliant. I can’t wait to get this!

In the words of Daniel Bryan… YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!

  19. TheManInBlu says:

Wow! Awesome match listing! I’ll be getting the Blu-ray \m/
