Still hoping for the RVD vs. Dreamer Flag Match from N2R ’97. Not a great match but Beulah looked HOT! 😉
I doubt that match will be eligible for Unreleased Vol. 3 as it was featured on RVD’s 2006 DVD. However we had a repeat on Vol. 2, so who you never truly know!
I should have clarified… oops, my bad…
The “Double Jeopardy Match”, for those who are not aware, was a match in which TWO MATCHES were going on at the same time. While all four men could beat the hell out of each other only Sandman could pin Corino and vice cersa, and only Credible could pin Lynn and vice versa. It just got too confusing as the match wore on. Then the final two men left would face-off to determine the ECW World Heavyweight Champion. So, in other words, it was like the semi-finals and finals of tournament all in one match. It was just short of a train wreck and a few steps ahead of a cluster youi-know-what, imho.
It wasn’t the only time ECW tried the multi-match in a match, who remembers “rage in the cage”? Three simultaneous matches with two cameras – how could it not work? Lol
Still better than some of the garbage Russo created in TNA. The Hard 10 tournament, the reverse Battle Royal, the King Of The Mountain match, and about a dozen others.
I’m sorry, but the N2R 2000 main event was a concept that looked GREAT on paper but fell way short in execution. It was a good, violent, bloody match, stiff as hell, but that’s about it. It was too confusing to follow at times and felt a little too much like an old WCW-style angle from the Ole Anderson years. Not too excited to have that on the set.
I’ll tell you what, though, all these ECW DVD releases and not ONCE has the Tanaka/Awesome match from Heatwave ’98 been released. Anybody who sees that match will never forget it. It wasn’t a classic, per say, but it showed just were ECW was headed in less than a year’s time. Talk about an ECW Unreleased classic in the making.
