We noted yesterday how artwork for the Blu-ray had not yet been released, which raised some concerns over a possible cancellation of that version. However, this was just a delay and it has now come through. The cover shot of the Blu-ray edition is shown below.

  1. Spritz1999 says:

Is it just me, or since ending the personal feud between Shawn & Bret have they just played the hell out of Survivor Series on almost every set they can? I mean used to, they wouldn’t even release it, due to the taboo surronding the events that happened!

  2. John says:

They should change it to “50 Greatest Repeats”

  3. Domenic says:

I feel I will lose the bet.

  4. RCS1988 says:

WWE has a ton of footage, but won’t use it, because they would have to add commentary or if there was already commentary, they just don’t want to use it. I was at a convention the previous day, and I showed Matt Striker a list for the Undertaker Unreleased DVD & Warrior Unreleased DVD, and he said he would buy them, but WWE probably won’t make them, but you never say never.

  5. Domenic says:

I have high hopes my match will be on the dvd!!!

  6. Domenic says:

WE WANT THE SURVIVOR SERIES 2001 WINNER TAKES ALL MATCH!!!! WE WANT THE SURVIVOR SERIES 2001 WINNER TAKES ALL MATCH!!!!!! WE WANT THE SURVIVOR SERIES 2001 WINNER TAKES ALL MATCH!!!!! WE WANT THE SURVIVOR SERIES 2001 WINNER TAKES ALL MATCH!!!!! WE WANT THE SURVIVOR SERIES 2001 WINNER TAKES ALL MATCH!!!!!! WWE, I will leave you dudes alone if you put this match onto the dvd, I promise!!

  7. Isrs4life says:

The Survivor Series 2001 winner take all match was nearly an hour and I dont
think it will make it on the 50th anniversary of WWE DVD set and The Invasion 2001
tag main event was around 40 something minutes dont think they will put that on
    there either.

  8. Vincenzzzzzo says:

Lol, man. Some of the comments on here are mindboggling. People are pissed at repeat matches but are throwing out suggestions of matches that have absolutely NOTHING to do with the theme of this DVD, or matches that are of no significance to the company’s history. Wow.

From the minute this set was announced I already knew what most of the matches were going to be. Yes, 95% of these matches will be repeats. And, yes, they all deserve to be on here.

    • Harry Faversham says:

Personally I’m more worried that they will try to avoid repeats and we will end up with a skewed representation of the history. I want an HONEST representation and if that’s the case pretty much every match will indeed be a repeat. You can’t change history just because you bought it on a DVD in 2004 etc. This should be a definitive blu ray with a definitive documentary. There are already matches announced that aren’t really worth the stature to be on this set. Unreleased matches are great for a cup of coffee but I don’t think that would tell the true story very well. That;s my personal take on it, but I think either way the set will be good. But it has the potential to be GREAT.

      • kidglov3s says:

What do you mean, that the 6 man tag from Tribute to the Troops 2008 isn’t a vital chapter in the history of WWE?

      • Vincenzzzzzo says:

I totally agree with you, Harry. Unfortunately, some people here are so brain dead that they just cannot understand this concept. Scary.

    • David says:

Couple matches i could see being released on this set are:

      – Paul Orndorff vs. Hulk Hogan – The Big Event (74 000 in attendance)

      – Andre the Giant vs. Hulk Hogan – Wrestlemania 3

The main selling point here is the documentary and to me the matches are a bonus.

  9. kidglov3s says:

I have to say it’s puzzling that there are multiple WCW and ECW Blu-rays with no HD content beyond the newly shot wraparound segments yet something that can legitimately take advantage of the format like No Holds Barred is not released on Blu-ray here in USA.

  10. Roger says:

They should call this release “The Recent History of WWE”

  11. mark foster says:

Dont understand why the wwe keep putting dvds wit the same matches.Jhon cena and cm punk are the present not the past. There are so many great matches from the 70’s and 80’s that should be included.I may pass on this one

  12. Colin V. says:

Listing looks good so far, I think something from the first Raw & first Wrestlemania should be included. This should be a really great set if they do it right.

  13. Steven Jackson says:

The Montreal Screwjob and Hogan vs. Rock, it looks like WWE could be producing one of their best sets here. Plus, the 3 Hour documentary I have a feeling will be great. This set is getting better and better.

  14. Domenic says:

WWE, please include the Survivor Series 2001 Winner Takes All Match, The Fatal-4-Way McMahons in a Corner Match at WrestleMania 2000, Inaugural Brawl from Invasion 2001, Tony Atlas and Rocky Johnson winning the Tag Team Championship, Rock and Austin at WrestleMania X-Seven, Rock vs. Cena II at WrestleMania XXIX, Hell in a Cell End of an Era Match at WrestleMania XXVIII, Streak vs. Career Match from WrestleMania XXVI, CM Punk vs. John Cena from Money in the Bank 2011. I also hear the Ladder Match from WrestleMania X will also be included, psych!! WWE, listen to the fans, they want the matches WE WANT, not matches that have been released on 100+ dvds already. Please give us the matches we want please WWE!! Please!!!!

  15. Mr Disc says:

I’m really looking forward to watching this 3 hour documentary on this set. And as far as No Holds Barred goes i didn’t really like the movie as it was way too cheesy even for Hogan. But i have to say this Blu-ray release could’ve at least included a behind the scenes feature or even just the original trailer as an extra.

  16. J. S. says:

More matches from the 60s and 70s please. It is the history of the WWE goddammit!

  17. John says:

Is the 6-Man Tag Team Match a repeat? If so, what DVD/Blu-Ray that have the 6-Man Tag Team Match?

  18. jblcenafan says:

as much as SNME made them a household name , where is anything from that show?

  19. Nick says:

    Repeats. 🙁

  20. KarlKayfabian says:

Hardyz vs Edge and Christian from Heat in their first ever match.

  21. KarlKayfabian says:

Tony Atlas and Rocky Johnson vs Wild Samoans (first Black WWF tag champs)

  22. KarlKayfabian says:

How about the first ever match between the Hart Foundation and the British Bulldogs from the Spectrum?

  23. KarlKayfabian says:

There are also at least 5 unrelased WWF World Title changes floating around in the vault.

  24. KarlKayfabian says:

Here is a previously unreleased match that should be included:

Diesel and Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon and the 123 Kid from Action Zone.

  25. Matt says:

Sorry for the unfinished comment. Here’s the rest of it.
    Inaugural Brawl at Invasion 01
Team WWE vs Team Alliance at SurSeries 01
Batista vs Triple H at Backlash 05
CM Punk vs Miz vs ADR at TLC 11
CM Punk vs Chris Jericho at Payback 13
Those are the matches I would like to be on there.

  26. Matt says:

I would like for the following on this dvd:
    HHH/Rock/Foley/Big Show at Wrestlemania 16
    SCSA/Rikishi No Mercy 2000
    Inaugarl

  27. Steve Giordano says:

Repeat-a-mania is running wild! You can make the argument for any of the matches released thus far but there are a lot of unreleased matches that summarize the history of WWE. Hopefully we get the inaugural brawl from Invasion 2001 and the winner take all Survivor Series Match. Please no more Wrestlemania matches for god sake on these releases. Talk about beating a dead horse. This release has WM X Ladder match written all over it however.

    • Vincenzzzzzo says:

Do you ever STOP complaining about DVD releases? The only thing more repetitive than the matches is the same complaining posts I read from you time after time after time after time. And yeah, the WM 10 ladder match probably will be on this. And while it’s been released numerous times, why wouldn’t they put that match on here?

  28. Justin Greeder says:

Really looking forward to this bet.

  29. David says:

WOW! what a dumb excuse for hating vids from Youtube…like seriously? thats your explanation?!

This Domenic guy is just a troll…we get it! you want the Survivor Series 2001 match…no need to keep on posting it.

  30. Domenic says:

WWE, please include the Survivor Series 2001 Winner Takes All Match please, please, please, please.

  31. Shawn Phelan says:

Wouldn’t you rather have a site like YouTube you can go to for almost any.vid instead of having to go to a bunch of different sites??!!

  32. Shawn Phelan says:

Lol at this guy that hates YouTube because they have variety.

  33. Erik G. says:

I knew this would happen. Mostly repeats. Understandable as this is a fluff piece for mainstream fans.

  34. justin f says:

    Hogan vs Rock again?

  35. Raye says:

Does anyone know if the no holds barred blu ray will have exclusive extras that were not in the US dvd?

  36. Shane C. Montgomery says:

This month’s DVD give away looks awesome!

  37. Domenic says:

I have faith in WWE that they will include the Winner Takes All Match from Survivor Series 2001!

  38. King_2099 says:

I absolutely REFUSE to watch any video that is from Youtube. I HATE that website!

    • Daniel Bee says:

Why? With their embedding you need not even leave this website to view the video.

Unless it’s because you have problems streaming their videos. Slow connection?

      • King_2099 says:

No, my connection is fine. I hate Youtube because they have WAY too much variety in videos to watch. Every time someone posts a video anywhere on any site, it’s always from Youtube. Any other site and I would be fine with viewing the content. But NOT Youtube

        • Daniel Bee says:

Honestly, that makes zero sense in the context of viewing the videos we show here. The only videos you’ll see on this site relate to the news about wrestling DVDs. Don’t go to YouTube’s own website if their variety of content overwhelms you.

  39. Domenic says:

Unedited and Unblurred for the first time ever!!

  40. Domenic says:

If WWE loves me so much, they will put the Survivor Series 2001 Winner Takes All Match, and if that happens, I will be buying this dvd set the day it comes out!!!

  41. TheManInBlu says:

Stoked that it is officially coming out on Blu-ray as otherwise it would’ve been a deal breaker for me. I already have the Hogan/Rock match on The Story of Wrestlemania Blu-ray but the other two matches are classic. Loving the match selection so far with the first Royal Rumble match from 1988 previously announced to be part of this set. But I second the previous post; there needs to be more old school matches on there, especially from the ’80s and Saturday Night’s Main Event in its glory days…

  42. Domenic says:

Please WWE, include the Winner Takes All Match from Survivor Series 2001!!!! Please WWE!!! Please!!!!!!!

  43. Domenic says:

    WWE just loves my suggestions!!!!

  44. Mongoose Wizard says:

Oh geez The Rock Vs Hogan from Wrestlemania X8
    GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  45. Nick says:

I don’t want to complain but this is wwe really screwing the old school fans. They have 100000 hours of footage and refuse to use it. This is why the WWE Network needs to get up and running so fans like me can watch footage from the 50s to the 80s before its too late.

This doc would have to be better than the rise and fall of ecw for me to buy it.

    • Lawrence says:

      I tend to agree.
I understand the desire to have the modern era get good representation but I want to see old school bouts as well. I have a lot of great memories of watching WWE in the 1980s and would like to see some older matches as well. I hope the WWE satisfies that wish to some degree.

    • straightedge47 says:

there probably will be quite a few old school matches on the set, if they’re releasing the matches a few at a time on this site they’re probably keeping the ones that’ll get the most people talking until last, which will probably be old matches that everyone is wanting
