The Planned Name for the Bret Hart Unreleased 2013 WWE DVD Is…

December 6, 2012 by Daniel Bee

WWE Bret Hart

Bret “Hit Man” Hart: The Dungeon Collection is the new planned title for the “Bret Hart Unreleased” DVD, which is to be released by WWE next year. We can confirm that it’s still on the way for March as the tentative 2013 WWE DVD schedule suggests, and that it will also be on Blu-ray format.

In September Bret confirmed via his Twitter account that he had started to review matches for the new DVD and was open to match suggestions from fans. Soon after, it was confirmed that the WWE crew had set up in his home to shoot footage for the release, which is likely to be interviews between selected matches. Regarding the matches, Hart referred to them as “rare and unseen” picks from the WWE archive (which includes WCW content) and speculated there may some of his Stampede Wrestling matches included too.

An official synopsis is likely to be forthcoming. Expect to see the “Dungeon Collection” go up for March pre-order (April in Australia) on retail sites soon.

The first two UK WWE DVDs for next year, to be released by FremantleMedia, have now been classified by the BBFC. These are Night of Champions 2012 and Hell in a Cell 2012. Both titles will have Blu-ray editions exclusive to Europe.

Night of Champions will have 77 minutes of Blu-ray extras, whilst Hell in a Cell will have 67 minutes of bonus footage. The extras are taken from the Raw and Smackdown episodes aired after the respective PPVs, but no word yet on the match picks.

Night off Champions 2012 – 21st January

They could continue to release Bret Hart DVDs every other year due to Bret having so many great matches. I am reading his book right now and reading about some of his early matches at Stampede and would love to see a few of them, esp. early matches against Dynamite Kid.

  2. Anonymous says:

I like to see his match with Nick Bockwikle in this set

  3. RCS1988 says:

As long as this set includes dark matches from tv tapings like Bret vs. Tom Magee, Bret vs. Andre, Bret vs. Undertaker from Oct 91, Bret & Warrior vs. Shango & Kamala, Bret & Owen vs. Money INC, etc.

  4. indyfan says:

i want to them to put some matches from Japan on it.

  5. BH says:

Just looked over the thread and these would be the only ones I’m interested in (I’ve added a few to it):

    November 1991 vs. Ric Flair
August 1996 vs. Steve Austin in Kuwait
1996-1997 match vs. Steve Austin in Africa
Souled Out 1998 vs. Ric Flair
October 12, 1998 Monday Nitro: Sting/Warrior vs Hogan & Bret Hart
October 19, 1998 Monday Nitro: vs Sting
November 16, 1998 Monday Nitro: vs Benoit
February 22, 1999 Monday Nitro: vs Booker
September 13, 1999 Monday Nitro: Sting/Luger vs Hogan & Bret Hart
    September 27, 1999 Monday Nitro: Bret/Flair vs Sting/DDP/Luger
November 8, 1999 Monday Nitro :Scott Hall vs Bret Hart, Bill Goldberg, and Sid Vicious in a ladder match
December 23, 199 Thunder vs. Benoit

  6. Anonymous says:

I WANT TO SEE HIS MATCH VS DYNAMITE KID FROM 9/14/85 WHICH CAN BE FOUND ON WWF BRITISH BULLDOGS COLISEUM VIDEO. CLASSIC RARE GEM.

  7. RabidHeat says:

Kinda just wanted it to have follow the same title format of the Hogan set (‘Unreleased Collector’s Series’) so that these releases could be considered a series of their own on the shelf. Oh well.

  8. Anonymous says:

i hope they include his match vs andre the giant, his match vs stone cold from africa, his match vs goldberg for the u.s title, and his wwf and wcw matches vs lex luger.

  9. Gotta Love The Divas says:

I think it’s about time we had another diva dvd release. We haven’t had one since Divas Do New York. It would be good to see a dvd that showcases new divas such as Eve Torres etc

  10. Really? says:

The blu-ray extras are always the same just crap segments from Raw and Smackdown leading into that ppv. What happened to the exclusive extra stuff we used to get?

  11. warresg says:

    finally something worth to buy

  12. Mark Markson says:

Great news, that this will consist of unreleased matches. In my opinion, that should always be priority #1 whenever WWE does a DVD set. Give the fans something new.

  13. Anonymous says:

    Please no more tag matches.

    I want:
    MSG matches from 1993-1997
untelevised to the USA matches against Steve Austin
    matches against Sting
1991 Ric Flair match on Invasion
    Randy Savage match in Japan
    Ironman matches against Owen Hart
his WCW debut match at 1998 Souled Out
    Terry Funk’s WrestleFest match
    unreleased matches against Benoit

These are all very different and very rare. Who says the next Bret Hart release has to be a duplicate of the previous one?

  14. Lemo says:

Can’t wait for the Bret dvd. He had a kick ass match against Savage in Japan in 1994, which was last WWF match of Savage, i hope it makes it to the set. Also him & Yokozuna had great Steel Cage match at MSG in 1993, hopefuly we will see it.

  15. john peterson says:

Besides the No holds barred match with Owen,They did an Ironman Match in 1994 and I hope that either Bret or WWE have the footage and they put that match in there.and also hope they include his Souled Out 1998 Match with Ric Flair.

    • Dave says:

From what i understand WWE there is no master tape with Bret vs. Owen Ironman match…the only footage around is the fancam.

They had a pretty good No Holds Barred match from 1995 on RAW which hopefully makes it.

  16. Anonymous says:

Please Include His Match vs Terry Funk From ECW Wrestlefest.

  17. Anonymous says:

I wonder if we’ll get any WCW matches on it. His best one’s already been released, and won’t be rereleased any time soon for obvious reasons, but I’d like to see the one against Funk that ended Hart’s career if it’s on tape. Hopefully that’ll be in there for historical reasons.

  18. Anonymous says:

hope to see his japan match vs tiger mask and his no holds barred match with owen hart.

  19. Chris says:

I hope there’s no Hogan or Flair on this set. Flair’s matches are the same thing over and over. Chop chop woo strut fall out of corner flip over top rope climb up top thrown off chop woo figure 4.

  20. Anonymous says:

If Ric Flair and possibly Hulk Hogan don’t appear on this Bret Hart set, that tells me all I need to know which is that Bret is more interested in telling the same old story with the same style of matches and not to mention maintaining the tired old grudges than he is to give the people something fresh and entertaining. I can think of at least three matches that could be on this:
11/1991 vs. Ric Flair on the Invasion 1992 tape (maybe their best match against each other)
1/98 vs. Ric Flair at Souled Out 1998
11/99 with Hogan vs. Sting and Luger from Monday Nitro

The 1991 match is a great rarely seen match unreleased to DVD that is exactly what this type of collection proclaims itself to be. Will it be there?

  21. SRB says:

Can’t wait to buy the Bret set and then Stu can put me in the Lion Tamer. “If ya wanted to try me then why didn’t ya try me?!”

  22. mommy says:

arda ocal is so annoying, sucks canadian fans have to put up with him every week

  23. Anonymous says:

Sounds like a good name for the set

  24. Anonymous says:

Given that Bret’s involved, I’m really NOT looking forward to this DVD set. Why? Even if the matches are unreleased, it’s still going to be the same old, same old. We’ll get a bunch of matches featuring friends and relatives like Owen, Bulldogs (single and tag) and Hennig. Then we’ll get some oddball opponents like Bigelow and Hakushi. And, now that he realizes it’s important to his standing with WWE to be on good terms with Shawn Michaels, there’ll also be a token HBK and or Rockers match. But, in the end it’ll be so close to the same as the prior set that you might as well just save your money for when they put out an unreleased set on the numerous guys who generally sell more units and who deserve such a set so much more.

    • Justin F says:

We’ll see when the match listing comes out, but hopefully Bret Hart remembers what matches were on the first DVD and try to include fresh and new matches in this one.

    • Anonymous says:

Who on earth deserves this more than Bret? He’s arguably the greatest of all time. Remember that WWE gives us a lot more content than in the past. This could have 50 matches counting the DVD extras and Blu-Ray which is almost like what the 4th disc used to be. There is plenty of room for all sorts of stuff.

      • Anonymous says:

Bret was real good in the ring, but the greatest of all time? Not even close when considering it takes so much more than in-ring ability and he’s noticeably lacking in other things such as mic skills and ability to draw.

To your other question, without even thinking about it, I can come up with six other guys who deserve an Unreleased collection more than Bret:

        -Shawn Michaels
        -Ric Flair
        -Ricky Steamboat
        -Triple H
        -Undertaker
        -Steve Austin

They had a much wider range of opponents and varied their styles of matches much more.

      • Anonymous says:

        50 matches, eh?

  25. Harry Faversham says:

I think I will make a space on the shelf for 1 x Dungeon Collection.

  26. Anonymous says:

I don’t like the name but I can live with it. Bret Hart is arguably the greatest wrestler of all time. You can’t go wrong with him. I only worry that a lot of good stuff will be missed — maybe we will get a second volume eventually? Although with blu-ray and store exclusives we could get quite a lot. Really looking forward to this one and I have a lot of matches that I’m hoping for.

  27. Vincenzzzzzo says:

I’ll definitely be picking up the Dungeon Collection on Blu-ray. Bret Hart is one of my all time favorite performers. I can only imagine the classic matches he would have put on in WWE had he not gone to WCW during the Attitude Era…. Matches with The Rock, more with Austin and Michaels and especially Kurt Angle. I can already tell this will be one of the best releases next year!

  28. Brad Attitude says:

i’m picking the Dungeon Collection up.

  29. ALK says:

Ooo, plenty of blu ray extras then. 🙂

  30. Mark D says:

Interesting that FremantleMedia are adding moments from the Raw and SmackDown following the PPV, rather than before it like SilverVision have.

    • Anonymous says:

I think that’s a really good idea. I’ll miss out since I don’t import, but including the fall out instead of the go home show sounds like a great idea.

  31. rohfan81 says:

this release could be one of the best ever if the match selection is done right really wanna see some stuff vs the dynamite kid they could make a whole dvd just with them and the hart foundation and bulldogs
