‘Mania weekend brings with it some new updates on its Home Video release!
Back in February, preliminary cover for WrestleMania 39 was unveiled, and it looked like this…
Now, the latest cover design we have eyes on internally looks like the below. This cover is based on the poster artwork used in the run-up to the event with more emphasis on Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and the Championship titles they will be battling over tonight.
If you look closely at the bottom of this new cover shot, the line-up of Superstars has been tweaked slightly compared to the original poster, such as the positioning of Kevin Owens and the addition of The Street Profits.
This is still a work in progress though (the sponsor logos don’t usually end up on the artwork and there’s not yet a Warner Bros. logo), so consider it subject to change, however our hunch is it likely does indicate a move to the something more in tune with the poster artwork for the DVD.
Looking to the artwork on the spine, Charlotte Flair and Rhea Ripley now feature here, in addition to a new “WrestleMania 2023” logo, which are other elements that may wind up staying in the final design. WrestlingDVDNetwork.com will keep you posted!
WWE has the WrestleMania 39 scheduled for a DVD and Blu-ray release on May 9th. Pre-order your copy now by clicking here to Amazon.com.
WWE Home Video UK have announced a WrestleMania 39 exclusive is in the works that will feature a bonus disc of the NXT Stand & Deliver 2023 event!
Releasing on May 29th (same day as the standard UK versions), the exclusive will include:
- The full WrestleMania 39 event
- A bonus DVD disc of the NXT Stand & Deliver event
- Alternate artwork slipcover
- A3 pullout poster of WrestleMania 39
- Limited edition art cards
WrestlingDVDNetwork.com has word there will be no other exclusive editions this year in the UK, so this is the one to get! The UK will have the standard 3-disc DVD in Digipak packaging, the standard 2-disc Blu-ray, and this exclusive with bonus disc, alternate artwork and other goodies.
WWEDVD.co.uk has it available to pre-order now with the ‘Mania DVD or Blu-ray (the bonus disc will be in DVD format for either version).
Germany will also have a 4-disc version of the WrestleMania DVD, featuring the NXT Stand & Deliver bonus and the alternate artwork. In Germany this will only be available for the WM39 DVD, not Blu-ray, and is unlikely to include any of the other items such as the poster.
It’s worth noting again the WrestleMania 39 artwork has not yet been fully finalized, so a design for the alternate artwork releasing to the UK and Germany is not with us yet, but will be soon.
WWE has also created ‘first draft’ cover artwork for Backlash 2023 on DVD, using the poster artwork they recently unveiled that features Bad Bunny.
There are signs the artwork still has some changes to come – there’s no WWE Home Video logo yet and “2023” isn’t stated next to the event name, as examples, but this may be the direction WWE is headed in for the cover. The design has been added to the Amazon.com product listing.
The Backlash 2023 PLE will take place on May 6th in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The DVD release will follow on June 13th to fans in the US, and June 26th to fans in the UK.
I just saw tonight’s ”RAW”. I now understand why Bad bunny is on the cover of the up-coming d.v.d release of ”BACKLASH”. it’s gonna be him and Rey Mysterio vs. Damien Priest and Dominic Mysterio. Apparently they already had this planned before the ”RAW” show.
Any idea if they will do more Unreleased matches sets?
Smart marketing — get ’em while they’re hot.
As far as the up-coming ”BACKLASH” d.v.d, that’s not the official cover. They won’t have the event till next month.
They didn’t waste any time did they ? Already the inter-national release has a bonus disc containing the entire ”N.X.T” event. And they released the official art-work of the d.v.d and blu-ray cover. Will there be any bonus features on the United States release ?
Thanks Daniel. Can you please shed any light on this business about there being only x500 copies of the Limited Edition DVD? That can’t be the case, surely? Either way they’ve suckered me in if not and I had to buy just in case as I didn’t want to end up without the Takeover disc if it was really gonna be that rare, and I wasn’t seeing any info here a few days after the pre-order went up, but I just feel like we’ll be seeing that edition still available online a year from now for less. 🙁
Hi Rabid. Found out for ya.
There will only be 500x NXT Stand & Deliver DVDs manufactured and supplied to WWEDVD.co.uk. Those 500 will be allocated to the DVD & BD SKUs. Once sold, that’s it, whether they sell out while on pre-order or later after the release.
So, it’s sounding like 500 total for the UK since it’s only WWEDVD.co.uk doing this in the UK. However, Germany gets the disc too as mentioned in the post, and I’ve been told there will be 1,500x NXT Stand & Deliver DVDs produced for Germany, but no re-orders beyond that.
A total of 2,000x produced then no more, if you count Germany too.
