JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter yesterday mentioned that WWE has plans to release a Jerry “The King” Lawler DVD.
Regarding a question on last night’s radio show, WWE is actually making a Jerry Lawler DVD.
We can neither confirm nor deny this to be true but there have been definite rumblings this year of a DVD/Blu-ray release or a WWE Network special. It was back in July that the Observer first reported the story, while a Jerry Lawler DVD has long been rumored since at least 2011.
In the July report – Jerry Lawler DVD On The Way? – it was said that WWE camera crews were following Lawler in Memphis and conducting interviews with him for the project.
RARE STUFF, BIG BUCKS!
A sealed copy of the WWF “Classic Five of 2001” DVD box set sold on the UK eBay site yesterday for £128.62, equivalent to over $200 US!
Take a look at the RARE auction.
Speaking of tricky to find WWF DVDs, expiring today on the US eBay site is this auction for three DVDs – SummerSlam 2000, King of the Ring 2001 and Invasion.
The current price is just $19.99 for all three. Happy bidding!
Hang on. Is this the same Dave Meltzer who said that he was 100% sure that CM Punk would be on the March 3rd Raw in Chicago?! While I’d love to see a Jerry Lawler blu-ray, Dave Meltzer is just another guy sells a newsletter, trying to make a name for himself, and dirtsheet sites just take his word as gospel. He has no sources, just speculative bullshit.
Wow. I don’t even know where to begin with your comments. Lots of ignorance here. First off, Dave Meltzer has been covering the wrestling business since the 1970’s. Second of all, umm, he actually does have sources and just about every major name in the business over the last 40 years or so has talked about how much they respect him. For a guy with nothing but “speculative bullshit” he’s managed to do a hell of a job staying in business for nearly 4 decades. As for a guy just trying to sell newsletters, his main source of income is the website now. Once he started making the Observer available online in 2008 his business shifted over. He still does do the physical newsletter as I guess some people still enjoy holding it in their hands while reading it, much like some people still prefer physical books over devices like the Kindle or the Nook or the iPad. Also he never said that Punk will 100% be on Raw. I listened to the audio show he did the night before that Raw and he specifically said that he hasn’t heard anything one way or the other, but if he had to guess he’d say that Punk will be there. Also as for other “dirtsheet sites” taking his word for gospel, that just goes to show how legitmate their sites are when they can’t come up with their own news and have to steal news from sites like the Observer and PWInsider.
wwe needs to do a special feature on the lawler dvd of the mid south coliseum
its still up, its gona be torn down in a few years. how cool would it be to have a mini tour or some reminiscing inside the mid south coliseum?
I’m sad for all of you who didn’t grow up with the greatness of 80’s territorial giant Jerry Lawler. (And saying you also don’t like Flair or Bryan just gets your comments negated)
6 hours? WWE DVDs are getting shorter now.
I hope they use that synopsis got the back cover for The Attitude Era #2 set.
This isn’t exactly new details on the ‘WWE Attitude Era 2’ set!!!
It’s a new synopsis we hadn’t posted yet, and a rather funny one at that. 🙂
Koko B. Ware had a hit-song with it…okay, maybe not a hit, but kind of a song… 😉
The Undertaker had a version of it with the Tombstone..
and others have tried and failed to do it just a perfect..
But no one in history did a Piledriver like:
Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!
I guess Lawler’s been round long enough to deserve a DVD/Blu-ray but I always found him quite boring as a wrestler. I can’t even think of one great match I saw him in. As a commentator, he’s great, but as a wrestler, not so much,
I guess you can say 45 years is “long enough”. lol It sounds like you’ve only seen Lawler in WWE. That’s a shame.
I’ve seen Lawler thru-out his whole career, he was/is a awful wrestler.
Why anybody would waste their time/money on a DVD for him is beyond me.
Just goes to show that wrestling marks will fall for anything, be it the atrocious Attitude era or the awfulness of Daniel Bryan.
You’ve been watching since the 70s? Also if you don’t like Jerry Lawler, the Attitude Era or Daniel Bryan – what do you like, because that’s a pretty broad spectrum of things to dislike.
Nothing broad about those 3 things. Really they are all quite similar, relating to awfulness. I love amazing wrestlers, that are fun and exciting to watch like Ultimate Warrior, Sting, Bret Hart, Randy Savage & Undertaker, guys like that. Larger than life wrestlers. Not Daniel Bryan who looks like my loser drunk uncle. I’d rather watch Ric Flair’s horrible matches than anything to do with Jerry Lawler. That’s how bad Lawler is, and I can’t stand the most boring wrestler on earth Ric Flair. Still I’d pick him over Lawler in a heartbeat.
The last one I remember him in (may have been his last match, not sure) was the ladder match with The Miz and I remember thinking that was great, like one of the better matches from that time period. How old was he then? Must be lots of gems from his heyday.
Now.. I’m not in place to correct you, Daniel.. but, it was in fact a TLC match.. just getting the details in order.. 😉
And I actually think he had a RAW match with CM Punk in 2012, if I remember right was it shortly after that match, a week or so after, that he suffered his legit heart attack.
Well yeah, must have had a match involving Ziggler too, as I now remember he had a match the night of his heart attack.
It was a tag match (Lawler/Orton vs. Ziggler/Punk).
