Synopses for the upcoming WWE DVD and Blu-ray productions on CM Punk, and The Rock vs. John Cena rivalry, have been shared via Shock Entertainment.
Punk’s DVD boasts a documentary on his day-to-day life as WWE Champion, whilst “Once in a Lifetime” chronicles the year long feud, extending the previous feature of the same name.
In the week leading up to WrestleMania XXVIII, a one-hour documentary aired on NBC Universal in America called ‘Once In A Lifetime: The Rock vs. John Cena’. This DVD collection is an expanded version of that documentary – giving the full one-year story of the build up to this epic match – from the very first promo. It also gives an insight into the preparation of body and mind that these two competitors went through before they met in the ring on April 1 in Miami. Once in A Lifetime explores the iconic Superstars long, emotional paths toward their match, and gives viewers a glimpse into The Rock and John Cena’s daily lives, training regiments, and the personal choices and histories that led them to the defining moment of their careers.
Once In A Lifetime: Rock vs. Cena is expected to be released in September 2012.
On June 27, 2011, CM Punk forever altered the course of WWE history with a blistering rant, proclaiming, “Day in and day out for almost 6 years Ihave proven to everybody in the world that Iam the best… on this microphone, in that ring, even on commentary. Nobody can touch me!”. Since riding into the scene as an extra in John Cena’s entrance at WrestleMania 22 to defending the WWE Title in main events all over the world in recent years, the “Voice of the Voiceless” has backed up that statement.
Now, WWE fans get an unprecedented look inside the life and career of the most controversial Superstar of this generation. The first ever documentary to focus on CM Punk traces his rise to the top of WWE, from this early success on ECW, his divisive perpetuating of the Straight Edge Subculture, to becoming internationally revered as the best wrestler in the world, and all the 5 star matches and verbal “pipe bombs” in between. Packed with new interviews and commentary from Punk himself, as he takes the viewer inside his day-to-day life. Plus relive the signature matches that have punctuated his WWE career and vaulted him into the championship spotlight!
The not-yet-titled CM Punk DVD is scheduled to be released in October 2012.

rock vs cena will be the biggest shelf warmer in wwe dvd history i just cant see many buying it , wheres hogan v savage ,piper v snuka, rock v stone cold, and the unleashed series wheres bret hart ,roddy piper , the 80s tag teams
i want to see piper vs snuka rivalries dvd, because for some stupid reason piper vs snuka matches have not seen the light of day on dvd yet that you can find on the old coliseum videos.
the John Cena vs The Rock rivalry made me dissapoint, the match “Once In A Lifetime” was slowly and the way John Cena loses it’s so stupid,I think in that match,John Cena should win,i’m not a Cena fan,but after everything he’s been through for 10 years,he’s always being comparing with The Rock, the rivalry between Rock & Cena was boring and not deserve a DVD
Macho man vs Hulk Hogan rivalry would be great. Could chronicle the way Hogan was “lusting” after Elizabeth!
as an old school fan of the 80s, 90s and early 2000s, i aint picking up the cm punk dvd. wwe matches nowadays are stale, predictable and boring.
WHAT A WASTE OF TIME! I mean come on!!! Giv us some gooood news about a WICKED UP-COMING ‘GREATEST RIVLARY’ SET WILL YA! ROCK n CENA had like 2/4 matches – WHERE THE HELLS THE SCSA/ROCK rivlary? THE CACTUS JACK/HHH rivlary?!
I may buy the CM Punk one just depends on the matches and other stuff on it .As for the Cena and the Rock I have no interest in that all at .I feel that one a waste of money .
that dvd would be a waste of money even if it was free.
I have no interest in either of these. Not interested in Rock-Cena for the same reason nobody else will be. I’m not feeling the Punk one just because I don’t like these “day in the life” type documentaries. I much rather prefer the sit-down, career-spanning ones. But that’s just my opinion.
Other than the John Cena Experience, what other DVD have done the “day in the life” treatment?
Randy ortan
The Randy Orton one was a career-span, not a DotL
**CORRETION it’s a Road to Wrestlemania docu. on the Randy Orton DVD not a DitL OR a career-span. i apologize.
I bet if anything ROH with re release his old DVD set when this comes out. But yeah I would like to see some of his pre WWe run on here. Chris Benoit DVd was done right because WWE put in his New Japan matchs in there. Atleast if put his 3 way with Rey Mastero and Eddy Gerouro from 2002.
This new DVD description is making me think that they may not include any footage of his pre-WWE indy days. I was really hoping some of that footage could be included in the documentary. I would understand if they don’t, but part of me thinks it feels wrong for a CM Punk DVD to not mention the Summer of Punk storyline. It was, no question, one of the best wrestling angles of the last 10 years.
Punk did said indie promotions are on there in same capacity, so at the very least you’d think those parts of his career will be mentioned by him in the documentary. It might just be that WWE doesn’t think they need to mention that in the synopsis to sell copies. Hopefully.
I am really looking forward to the “Once In A Lifetime” DVD set. I liked the special that aired on TV and am interested to see what the extended version has to offer. Very good DVD set this year!
CM Punk DVD is also interesting. I enjoyed Randy Ortons “Evolution of a Predator” and John Cena’s “Experience” DVD sets, so I’m sure to enjoy CM Punks set as well.
Can’t wait for these two sets!
I think the CM Punk DVD will be great. I dont know if you new fans remember, but he was in ECW and actually held the title for a bit before coming to the WWE. He used to say “breathe if you must, survive if i let you” right before he’d to the GTS, which i thought was cool. I hope he talks about that. It’s ashame he doesn’t say it anymore, probably because of stupid John laurenitus to make it PG now.
ECW was part of WWE when Punk was in it. So, he was just on a different WWE brand within WWE, not a different promotion prior to coming to WWE.
That’s Taz’s old catchphrase slightly altered. Taz used to say “beat me if you can, survive if I let you.” That “ECW” show on SyFy was horrid I watched the first 2 episodes and never watched again. Curious to see what matches they have of Punk’s from that period. I hope they have his Extreme Rules 2012 and OTL 2012. I dont wanna buy those crappyppvs just fro 1 match a piece.
What I’d include on Punk’s blu ray:
the match where he teamed with Flair in 2008 (emotional moment for Punk)
John Morrison title change
vs. Jericho in December 2008, WM28, Extreme Rules 2012
vs. Mysterio in February 2012, Armageddon 2008, Extreme Rules 2010
vs. Cena MITB 2011, SummerSlam 2011
vs. Del Rio Survivor Series 2011
vs. Del Rio vs. Miz TLC 2011
vs. Daniel Bryan in January 2012
vs. Undertaker in September 2010
vs. Randy Orton Extreme Rules 2011
vs. Edge vs. Jeff Hardy June 2009
vs. Jeff Hardy cage match
vs. Edge April 2008
I would like to see them include his IC Title win over William Regal in Chicago.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DO NOT put that damn cage match or TLC match with Hardy on the Punk DVD it has been on sooooooooo many DVD’s and your list is full of PPV matches.
