Photos: Japan Exclusive WWE DVD’s – Live in Japan 2005 & Diva Diaries

February 27, 2012 by Daniel Bee

As a collector of WWE DVD’s from all over the world, and liking anything a bit unique, for years I’ve been wanting to get hold of the titles exclusively released to Japan.

From what I could gather in that time there were two official WWE DVD’s only released to that market. These are Live in Japan 2005 and Diva Diaries 2007. Problem is, they are scarcely seen in the west, and the price of importing them fairly huge.

Today I got my hands on them via, helped by the fact I’m overseas in South Korea right now.

Both WWE Live in Japan 2005 and Diva Diaries 2007 are in stock at and with worldwide shipping available, but at $50-70 a piece, excluding shipping and possible import tax, they are rather pricey!

Other interesting pieces from Japan,.. reader Jon showed us this box set from Japan containing WWF The Rock: Just Bring It, Stone Cold: What?, and WrestleMania 18 DVDs, along with a bundled Rock/Hogan WrestleMania 18 T-Shirt. Had no idea that existed!

Another box set was released called “Divas Premium Box” which bundled together Undressed, Desert Heat, South Of The Border, Viva Las Divas and Divas Do New York. This one is also still listed on Asian retail sites and is even more pricey than the others!

You may have seen our article recently about an original WCW DVD being released in Japan back in the day, the only one of it’s kind! That being, “Millionaires Club vs. New Blood”…

Ordered these two from YesAsia and they arrived today! 🙂 Absolutely made up with these. Thanks to all of you guys

  2. Jon says:

There’s this one on Yahoo! Japan Auctions (Pachinko promo DVD):

Very cheap, but in my opinion not even worth that.

  3. Jon says:

That’s the one on the left of the photo anyway. I have no idea what the second DVD is, never seen it. I suspect it’s something similar.

  4. Jon says:

tickc317, I sold one on eBay last year for about £30. It contains less than 3 minutes of footage. Just a commercial for a Pachinko game that I believe was supposed to be shown looping in a shop window. The only place you might see one is Yahoo! Japan Auctions.

  5. Daniel Bee says:

Cool tickc, only seen one of those. Promo things not retail I bet.

Here’s a pic of the other Japan release DB it just has the WWE Logo nothing else. I’ll ask my friend in Japan to find out where you can get hold of it from.

  7. Jon says:

Although I never got around to watching the Live in Japan DVD before selling it, I’m pretty sure the Jericho vs. Benoit match isn’t on it. I did make a copy before selling it and I just checked the menu screen and the match isn’t listed there. In fact I didn’t even know there was a Jericho vs. Benoit match on that show until I read this thread! I’ll take another look at it later to be sure.

I didn’t know about that Divas DVD, but I generally ignore the Divas DVD’s anyway.
Searches on can be tricky due to their dodgy English translations (deibadaiari2007!), but they do correct them once someone orders the DVD. That site is the best one for people in the UK as you don’t get customs charges.

tickc317, what’s the catalog number on the spine of the Batista/Kelly Kelly DVD? That would be the easiest way to look it up on the Japan sites.

  9. Daniel Bee says:

tickc317: Ah, I’ve seen that one too. It’s a promo thing with a few minutes of content, right? I’d still like to find it one day! Interested to see the others you are talking about. 🙂

MadMike: Probably staying sealed. I was intending to watch Live in Japan as I enjoyed those shows but since it looks like Benoit/Jericho was removed it’s put me off! I may get tempted though..

SuperSonic: I *think* they are in English with Japanese subs.

Anonymous: Now that you mention it, I can’t find Diva Diaries on YesAsia either. It’s on CDJapan though and that’s where I got it.

  10. Dave says:

    @ Brad Attitude

Yea, it’s the same match on the Greatest Superstars of 21st Century. Edge/HHH only met couple times from what i recall; RAW in Japan in 2005 and Great American Bash 2008.

  11. Rip says:

Everytime I see something like this, I get the feeling that the WWE is holding us back on product we would like to buy. These DVD’s would look good in my collection, why would I need “The Rock” DVD or those WWE Films they make. Doesn’t make sense!!! Cheers!

  12. MadMike says:

Congrats on this great find Daniel Bee!! Awesome for the collection…are you tempted to crack it open or are you leaving it sealed?!?!?

  13. Brad Attitude says:

is Triple H vs. Edge the same match that’s on the Greatest Superstars of the 21st Century dvd/blu-ray set??

There you go DB this ones a japan release aswell. Anyone know where we can get this from. There’s also two more Japan DVDs I know of. Gonna search for them and post pics

  15. tickc317 says:

Great find those DB. I want them aswell n contemplating on getting them? I know there’s more DVDs from Japan. One of the covers has Batista and Kelly Kelly on the front. I’ll c if I can find a picture of it. Don’t know the title of it tho.

  16. Anonymous says:

Can’t find the diva diaries on only on cdjapan can I get a link for yesasia

  17. ALK says:

Aww, but near £50 is a bit much just to own the legendary JBL Vs Godzilla confrontation….. 🙁

  18. Supersonic says:

Somebody make me a copy of the Smackdown disc. I want that Angle vs. Mysterio match on DVD!

Is it English or Japanese commentary?

  19. Harry Farrow says:

Buy us a copy of both and I’ll pay you when you return home 😉

  20. It only costs about 20,000,000 Yen…

  21. Dave says:

    @ Daniel Bee,

Thanks! might get this. I wonder if the Benoit/Jericho submission match is included. WWE will never release it so this DVD might be the only way to get this match.

    • Daniel Bee says:

Sadly I’m thinking it’s cut, or they’d show it on the back surely. The Japanese fans knew Benoit and Jericho. The DVD wasn’t released in 2005 but later in 2007 so perhaps it was after Benoit did what he did.

I’m not sure yet if I’m keeping this sealed or opening it so can’t tell you for definite. Realising that match might be cut is making me want to keep it sealed as a collector’s item.

  22. SRB says:

Ya, I laughed pretty hard at the Tajiri extras. $70 huh? I’d buy either one of those for $70 at Best Buy lol Those DVDs are pretty cool to say the least.

  23. Dave says:

    @ Daniel Bee,

I can’t seem to find the RAW in Japan DVD on I typed it on the search and can’t find it.

  24. Daniel Bee says:

Cost a lot even in Japan though, SRB. On front of Live in Japan.. ¥5,880. That’s like $70 / £45!

My first two thoughts on that DVD were Wow Tajiri has his own set of extras and Ha they put a pic of JBL and the dinosaur on the back. 🙂

I noticed Jericho/Benoit isn’t listed on the back in the RAW section. The DVD was released in 2007 so maybe they cut Benoit out. Damn shame if that match isn’t on there…

  25. SRB says:

very nice. The artwork is great on those. I really hate how other countries can receive exclusive DVDs that the rest of the world is just not allowed to get. You find yourself on Ebay paying $200 or more for a 2 hour DVD when the people who live within that country it was released to pay around $10. Ugh… It’s a hard one.
