You wouldn’t be wrong in thinking there were no official WCW DVDs released back in the day by the company in the USA, but WWEDVDNews reader Jon Christopher has shared pics with us of a legit WCW DVD that was produced and sold in Japan.
Millionaires Club vs. New Blood is the title in question, and is supposedly the only WCW DVD to ever be released while they were still in business. It was brought out in the year 2000 to the Japanese market, covering WCW moments from the formation of the nWo in 1996 up to the end of 2000.
Jon, who’s owns the DVD pictured, had the following to say about the content…
“I’ll tell you a bit more about the contents. 123 minutes long. It’s all clipped matches and angles, mainly from 2000. The audio is all in English with the original commentary, but does have Japanese subtitles. Most of it is about the New Blood vs. Millionaires Club feud.
Starts off with the formation of the NWO in 1996, a few clips, then jumps forward to 1999 with Hall, Nash, & Jarrett assisting Bret Hart. Now we see Goldberg getting injured by punching out the windows of a limo, and later his return and heel turn.
Next, Vince Russo’s speech announcing the ‘new’ WCW. The David Arquette saga with him winning the belt and clips from that cage match, including Kanyon taking a ridiculous bump off the top of the cage. Ric Flair’s feud with Russo and getting his head shaved. The Great Muta’s return and alliance with Vampiro’s gang. Hogan’s feud with Kidman. Jeff Jarrett laying down for Hogan and Russo’s subsequent verbal bashing of Hogan (that was good!).
Booker T winning the belt for the first time is shown on here. Goldberg shouts “F**k you!” in Russo’s face after walking out of a 3-way match. The DVD ends with the build up to a match between Scott Steiner and Goldberg. Just the build up, no match so I was a bit disappointed in that.
It gets confusing with all the turns and it’s difficult to work out who is a face, who is a heel, who is aligned with who, and just what the hell is actually going on. Just sums up Russo’s WCW in 2000 really. It’s a decent DVD despite WCW being in a serious decline at the time. I missed a lot of this stuff back then, and I found it very interesting watching years later.”
If you’re lucky enough to ever find this on eBay.com, we say grab it!

Condition is MINT
I have the original version!
Who wants to buy it ???
I have this but without case from YouTube very good
guys ive found this dvd on youtube
Received my copy of this WCW DVD last week via amazon.jp and with help from a friend! It’s still sealed, though I’m not sure it’s the original seal since there are no stickers etc on there. One to keep hold of anyway.
Well this is a great find! I am jealous!!
Now this is a rare DVD. I wish I had a region free DVD and the DVD so that I can enjoy it. I didn’t even know that there was an original WCW DVD until I read this post. In fact, I am amazed.
The chances of a WWE Millionaires Club vs. New Blood Greatest Rivalries set seem somehwhat slim don’t they. Its interesting that they put Funk and Muta on the cover despite them not being big players in the storyline. But obviously those 2 are appreciated in Japan.I notice there aren’t many representatives for the New Blood faction on the cover either.
I always thought it was odd that WCW weren’t trying to make money by producing DVDs since WWF started in 1999. But then we didn’t even get the pay per views in the United Kingdom and that never made any sense either. I often think WCW gets a bad rap because they did do some great stuff, but you could see the mismanagement in instances like that, not just by watching it on tv. I ordered a load of WCW and nWo T-shirts from WCW.com and never saw any of them.
Make that 3 times I’ve seen it:

Love the look of that last DVD/Shirt box set, Jon! Something else I’ve never seen before.
I won’t give up trying to get these. I’m in South Korea right now. Maybe I should take a flight over there and go on a hunt 😉
A Friend Of Mine Told Me That He Had Seen This On A Torrent Website I Believe
What a find, now this is DVD wrestling collecting. Nice job.

@Jon Japan wrestling over American? My friend that is music to my ears. FMW is STILL my favorite federation to date and my collection is massive. Let’s trade man!
The DVD is legit, I’m 100% certain of this.
And it hasn’t just appeared after 12 years. I have had this in my possession for the last 5 or 6 years, and was aware of its existence since late 2001.
I am a long-time wrestling fan, but generally prefer Japanese Wrestling to American Wrestling. They do it better over there, matches are more hard hitting and intense. Yes, I have many rare WWE DVD’s, but I don’t buy them because they are rare, I buy them because I want them.
Years ago, like many fans of Japanese Wrestling, I used to buy tapes from traders, as that was the only way to see it. I bought my last set of tapes in late 2001. 6 tapes including a random one as I wanted a surprise. The random one turned out to be ‘AJPW vs, NJPW New Century Battle in King’s Road’. A superb tape that contained the first ever match between Keiji Mutoh and Toshiaki Kawada amongst others. What got my attention though was the fact that this tape had been copied from a DVD, a commercial DVD. And it got me thinking, why am I buying crappy NTSC to PAL converted VHS tapes, when I can buy Japanese original DVD’s? I wanted an original DVD of New Century Battle! So I began my search for an English language website that would sell Japanese DVD’s overseas. It took a while, but I eventually discovered CD Japan. The thing that really shocked me was the prices. Much higher over there. But I had to have that DVD and was sad that I couldn’t find it there. I saw many other interesting ones on their site though, including the WCW DVD. My interest in that quickly disappeared when I saw the ‘Out of Print’ notice. This was when I first found out about this WCW DVD, but was resigned to the fact that I’d never own one. However I was far more interested in a 4-disc DVD boxset of The Great Muta for 21,000 Yen, which was about £120 then (nearer £200 in today’s money!). If I only bought 1 DVD from there it had to be the Muta set, so I bought it and loved it! And then I wanted the 30,000 Yen Tiger Mask box set, so I bought that as well. Then I bought more and more, but was unable to get that New Century Battle DVD that CD Japan claimed didn’t exist after I e-mailed them. I’d also discovered Yesasia.com by this point who also denied knowledge of the DVD that I knew existed and was getting increasingly desperate to get.
Finding out exactly what was on these Japanese DVD’s was difficult until I discovered Yahoo! Japan Auctions. It’s like eBay, but as eBay Japan closed down ages ago, they used this site. So here I could get valuable info on what exactly was on these DVD’s just by looking at the seller’s pictures and description. I couldn’t buy from there though. not directly anyway. You’d be amazed at some of the stuff for sale there. Ring-worn Tiger Masks (I missed out on that one), and as recently as a month ago there was a pair of ring worn Rick Rude tights for around 37,000 Yen! They may still be there.
And then I saw it! Not the WCW DVD, the New Century Battle one! It did exist! I then contacted an eBay seller based in Japan and asked if he was a member of Yahoo! Japan Auctions and could he get it for me. He agreed (for a commission) but was unable to get it in time. But he was able to get plenty of others for me though, and a few months later I was able to the New Century Battle DVD I had been chasing for 5 years! I was also able to get the WCW one around the same time. I’ve been a regular customer of his ever since. He has managed to get some incredibly rare DVD’s for me including some signed ones. I have DVD’s signed by Keiji Mutoh (The Great Muta), Koji Kanemoto, Kensuke Sasaki, and Katsuhiko Nakajima x2. This was how I got that WWE promo DVD that I sold on eBay a few months back that I mentioned here. I didn’t even know what that was until I got it.
These days, due to the economic problems, the prices are much higher than ever before so I don’t buy very many these days.
But that is how I managed to get it and how I know it is legit. Now I have been looking at that auction site since around 2005 and I have only seen that WCW DVD twice on there. I tried to get the second one as well but was outbid. I’ve only seen the New Century Battle one 3 times. A simple search for ‘TOBS-1001 WCW DVD’ will show you some Japanese websites that used to sell the WCW.
Now to anyone willing to try and track it down, there is a website called http://www.jauce.com that will bid on your behalf on Yahoo! Japan Auctions. I have never used this website though (I prefer to use my friend to get them) so cannot vouch for them. Bear in mind that there is now a huge amount of bootlegs on there but they are easy to spot (for me anyway), and most of these were imported into Japan from Highspots and the like and then re-sold there for a HUGE profit. Seriously, I’ve seen some Highspots DVD’s go for over 15,000 Yen!
You can always ask me if you are not sure. And you might even see those Rick Rude tights if they are still there…
Good luck!
wcw never releasing any dvd in norh america is a real sad thing for wrestling fans.this japan release only if legit will be a true collectors item.
I think it would have to be legit. I could understand a PPV being bootlegged, but a compilation??
Reading the description, it sounds like it had to be an official release. Unless the WCW editing team stayed after hours, and wanted some extra $$ on the side.
As far as it being a bootleg (and I have many) whats weird is that the front looks like a bootleg but the back is done very well. I have never even heard of this event and it looks really great.
Interesting DVD, thanks for posting.
what is jeff jarrett doing on the cover?
The thing is though Mike, it’s not like WWEDVDNews has been around 12 years and we’re just now finding out about this. I’m sure Jon who shared the pics with us has known about it a few years, and there will be others too if they are lucky enough to have it.
I can’t say for sure it’s legit, though I searched Google earlier and there are other sites making reference to it, saying that it was a Japan only release and that it has Japanese subtitles.
https://www.google.com/#hl=en&gs_nf=1&tok=ZsFPP3lpxWn0NKBJRXLNiw
With it supposedly only being released to Japan you could guess it wouldn’t be widely known in the west.
How legit is this? I’m sorry but I am not convinced. I think it is a bootleg. 12 years for something like this to surface?
Geesh this would be worth a ton of money if it was sold.
Amazing this comes around 12 years after the fact. Now im interested in details: how many were produced, how common is it in japan, how do i get one, etc.
Interesting!
