March 7, 2019 by Daniel Bee

Picked it up yet? We’re talking about the new Royal Rumble 2019 DVD, of course!

The latest WWE DVD release is a 2-disc set as this week the Rumble DVD officially landed in the United States ($14.99; Amazon.com) and is scheduled to hit the United Kingdom in less than 2 weeks on both DVD and Blu-ray formats (£16.50; Amazon.co.uk).

The Royal Rumble 2019 cover artwork is a modified version of the Pay-Per-View poster – featured front and center is “The Man” Becky Lynch and the Universal Champion Brock Lesnar.

Becky would win the Women’s Royal Rumble on this night, while Brock successfully defended his title against Finn Bálor. The show saw a WWE Championship contest between Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles, RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey in action against Sasha Banks, and not forgetting Seth Rollins’ Rumble moment when he won the traditional 30-Man Royal Rumble Match.

The newly-released Rumble DVD presents the PPV event that ran over 4 hours and a selection of extras too. Let’s see how it’s going to look on our shelves with these new pics sent in by WDN reader Matthew Tremble.

In a David vs. Goliath type matchup Finn Bálor stands toe-to-toe against Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship.

Speaking of PPVs, will WWE ever release Crown Jewel on Home Video?

Apparently not.

Back in October all signs pointed to there being a physical release of the event in early 2019 but plans look to have been scrapped. WWE Home Video UK have confirmed both to us and to their customers that they will not be offering the product and one would assume that’s the case worldwide.

There’s no official word on why, but it would seem plausible it’s related to sensitivity reasons around Saudi Arabia. Unless something changes we won’t be adding Shawn Michaels’ in-ring return to our DVD collections any time soon.

  1. JOSEPH L OWENS says:

Did anyone else get the blu ray release of Royal Rumble 2019 from Fremantle? How did you feel about the video quality overall?

  2. Timothy Thorpe says:

I find it a shame that Crown Jewel won’t see the light of day. I’ve been needing a couple of beer coasters too.

  3. tom says:

sensitivity reasons haha further proof today’s world is softer then a roll of charmin toilet paper

    • RabidHeat says:

It’s “soft” to disagree with an innocent man being murdered in cold blood by a country’s Goverment?

      • David says:

Not even that but just the brutality of the murder. I guess Tom thinks its “soft” that a government sent a hit squad with a bone saw chopping up an innocent man to pieces and dissolving him in acid is acceptable and everyone should be fine with that just so WWE can release the garbage Crown Jewel event held from that hell hole of a country on DVD.

        • tom says:

so what’s your excuse for all the other murders and people getting shot up in mass shootings? guess there should be dozens of cities that wwe shouldn’t go to or release events from like orlando, dallas, las vegas etc

          • David says:

Yeah, because a government (that WWE deal with BTW) hiring a hit squad to silence a critic is the exact same as basement dwelling losers shooting random people because they hate their life…oh yeah, both are the same exact thing…

      • tom says:

it has nothing to do with wrestling. i guess wwe should never have shows in orlando since a guy shot up a night club. that’s just as bad.

  4. RabidHeat says:

I’ve always found it amusing how Judgment Day 2002 is so rare in the US; I’ve seen used Region 2 copies all the time over the years in UK branches of CEX for a few quid, lol. Still got my copy.

    • Jeff Copeland says:

years ago i found like the most random ppvs at fye i found like Backlash 02 Judgment day 02 vengeance 02 backlash 01 royal rumble 02 invasion 01 Summerslam 2000

ALL of those found at fye each were 10 bucks each years ago back in 09 2010. it is crazy that those were rare to find mostly veng and jday cause they were never released in stores only from wwe.com

so i don’t get why backlash no mercy 2016 chamber 2015 wernt released as far as crown jewel its probly for the best that ppv was not released

      • BAS says:

Lucky!!! I recently started my 2002 set and I feel started it the best way possible by getting Judgment Day and Vengeance out of the way. They were $50 each, which was more than I cared to spend them on but let’s be honest, getting either of those for less than $100 is a bargain compared to what we’ve seen them go for. Wish I could’ve been as lucky as you but I’ve seen all the other events go for fairly cheap so no complaints.

  5. BAS says:

Since we’re on PPVs being released long after the fact, I still don’t see why Elimination Chamber 2015 and Backlash/No Mercy 2016 still can’t be released since Greatest Royal Rumble came out long afterwards. I know, I’m kicking a dead horse here, but how WWE does things is frustrating.

  6. BAS says:

I know I’ve said this twice this last week, but if Crown Jewel does get released, it’ll be around the time of the next Saudi Arabia event since Greatest Royal Rumble was released the same month as Crown Jewel. If not, then we can officially rule it out, but we’ll have to wait and see, although I’m not counting on it.

  7. ppv collector says:

Its a waste that Crown Jewel in not making into DVDs or Blurays.

    • Heartburn Kid says:

I totally agree just like it was a waste they never made Elimination Chamber 2015 in the US, and a Backlash/No Mercy 2016 double pack

      • LP1 says:

Not the first time this has happened. The full No Holds Barred PPV from 1989 was never released anywhere. Also the full In Your House October 1995 and In Your House December 1995 events were never released on video in the US. Only a highlight video with select matches from each show was released. Also In Your House: D-Generation X never made it to video in the US. And of course for obvious reasons Over The Edge 1999 wasn’t released. I wouldn’t worry about the Shawn return match. It’ll show up somewhere eventually. Either another DX, Shawn or maybe Taker release.

    • RabidHeat says:

It’s interesting that you use the word “waste”, as a lot of people who watched the show seemed to think it was a waste of a few hours of their life.
