WWEDVDNews.com has obtained a list of currently planned WWE DVDs & Blu-rays for 2011. Not the previous bunch of rumors, but a schedule from the WWE themselves.
Given the time frame, obviously it’s tentative and some titles will change but the source can’t be faulted. At this moment all are scheduled. We are revealing 2-3 DVD titles each week!
Sadly our last reveal week, but this one contains quite possibly the biggest news in 2011 DVD plans! – Past reveals
……………………………………………………………………………
Austin/Rock: The Rivalry – The one for 2011 we’re most excited about – a DVD & Blu-ray release chronicling the rivalry between Stone Cold and The Rock in the WWF/WWE. Unfortunately it’s planned for this time next year so there remains a chance it’s removed before then, but we can exclusively reveal it’s on WWE’s schedule as of right now. There’s a multitude of moments they could include on a set like this and no doubt it would be well received.
Smackdown: The Best of 2010/11 – We can confirm WWE has plans to carry on the Smackdown season theme for the 2011 period, in the same fashion as the recent 2009-2010 release. That means if all goes as expected WWE will be releasing a season set for the year gone by for both Raw and Smackdown, in addition to releasing sets for the early years of Raw and WCW Nitro. Translation: lots of TV themed sets.
Leave your thoughts in the comments – hope you enjoyed all of our reveals!
Sets for the early years of Raw= sweet
On a different topic, I would love for you guys to do the
schedule up for Classics on Demand and put the PYBO up of
the month because I find it hard to find and wwe doesn’t put
it up right away, it would be a nice little section for this site
Just Askin!@
WWE won’t do DVDs about the History of a Title ?? They did a DVD for the WWE title, the Intercontinetal Title, The World Title…What about a DVD about The Tag Team Title ??? Would have been great.
A KOTR anthology set would be nice, if they had footage from the early KOTR tournaments from the mid 80es. As far as I know, these events took place at house shows. A ECW PPV anthology would rule in my opinion.
This is on http://www.tpww.net/2010/12/tyson-kidddh-smith-storyline-nxt-season-5-sd-news/
King of the Ring anthology would be excellent. Evolution DVD would be tight, but could not stand alone because of the short period they were together. How about a greatest factions set? I’m wondering if the Survivor Series set is being held up because of the whole Hart Mcmahon thing in 97. It’s probably on it’s way now because of the kiss and make up recently.
I think when HBK came back in late 02 along with the forming of Evolution and the rise on Benoit and Eddie 03 to 05 is another one of my favortie periods.
In response to agtdark2023 mid 92 through the end of 97 would be my favorite years. and I am in total agreement on an In Your House Anthology or King of the Ring Anthology and where the hell is the rest of the Survivor Series Anthology???
No DVD about Harley Race !!?? Damn.
And a Austin/Rock DVD is a good idea but I’m not too excited about that to be honest, nothing really new there. Disappointing reveal this week to be honest…
well that sucks, I was hopng for the IN YOUR HOUSE Anthology set, maybe even the rest of the Survivor Series, how about the King of the Ring Anthology?Rock/Austin rivarly majority of us already have most of their fueds.
please watch the language.. this is a PG forum. Rey Mysterio is going to come in here and give you a hug and his mask then Cena’s gonna get on the mic and let you know that he wont stop and he wont quit no matter what!
The problem with the rock/austin dvd it will be blured & censeored so that will hurt the dvd for me & the smackdown dvd why did wwe wait till now to do these yearly recaps why did they not do these in 1999-2003 when smackdown was fuckin awesome.
I thought the same about the HD material on the Blu-ray. If it goes ahead I’d like to see some unseen film footage of Rock vs Austin at WM X-Seven and XIX.
@Gav You do know that WWE did have a time when they fell back in 1997 so like a rise and fall of WWE could be made but like be called rise and fall and rise again of WWE expect a better title is in order
WWE needs to pony up the dough and unedit all the scratch logo and WWF audio for Rock vs. Austin.
Then again, none of it was ever filmed in HD (with the possible exception of WM19), so I don’t really see the appeal on having the rivarly on bluray.
Finds that intresting (not ribbing shaun and danny) dam you must admit 2011 is a odd one for dvds in that said i love the line up so far but with they was like a the rise and never fall of wwe that be ace or more star story sets
Hey Bryan. Didn’t like the Attitude Era, Rock/Austin didn’t do anything for ya. When exactly was your favorite time in wrestling history? Just curious.
HELL YEAH!!! 2 awesome wwe dvds, The Rock vs Stone Cold dvd should be awesome!!!!!!
Okay, ready? MSG show 11-15-97, Rematch on Raw night after DX In Your House 12-8-1997, MSG show 10-1-2001, Smackdown 11-13-2001 tag match Austin/Angle vs. The Rock/Y2J, Survivor Series 2001 Team WWF vs. Alliance, Smackdown 12-4-2001 Austin/The Rock vs. Y2J/Angle, Raw 1-7-2002 Austin/The Rock vs. Booker T/Bossman. I think I got all that Dave missed. No need to thank me, It’s the love of the game that allows me to come up with all that within 5 minutes or so between posts!
The Austin/Rock DVD looks awesome! My only concern would be the PG era and how they would pull off their feud knowing that they cussed a lot and there was a ton of blood shed between the two. Other than that I’m definitely looking forward to this. A little off topic but do you think it would be a good idea to do a good ol JR set? I think it has the potential to be a great set. Disc 1 would obviously be the biography and disc 2 could be all of his greatest matches that he’s called over his career.
Replying to Dave down there, theyalso had a tag match against each other in 2001 or 2002. I don’t have time to do the research at this moment, but I will later. I remember the match being sometime late in the year, but I don’t remember the details at the moment. Also, they teamed up against the NwO right before Mania 18 on Raw. Pretty good match. I couldn’t agree more with the wanting PROMOS,PROMOS PROMOS. Like I said earlier, these two are magical when working together.
Austin Rock, MUST BUY! Especially in Blu Ray!
Forgot Backlash 1999 so add that is 7 matches.
Holy **** i am getting BOTH but the first one is the reason for me going crazy. I dont see it getting 3 discs though as there isn’t enough matches to fill even 1 disc which is why every singles match rocky and austin have ever had should be on here
1997 DX in your house
WM15
WM17
RAW 2001 night after WM17
Rebellion 2001
WM19
If there is anymore please correct me can any of you guys at WWEDVDNews confirm how many discs this is this sounds very 2 disc type i hope its full of austin and rock promos hell add the ones from non televised stuff i heard they did lots of these like sing offs and stuff. So disc 1 would be the feature where its 1997-2003 with lead ups to each match and comments from current wrestlers sounds good with lots of extras and then disc 2 all 6 matches they ever had.
Also i expect this too be TV-14 as there rivally screams blood and swears. Hope it ends up being realesed awesome dvd it would be.
I purchased the Mania 15 PPV and watched their best match in my opinion. Two weeks later, I was at the show in Michigan when Austin smoked The Great One’s Lincoln with the 3:16 monster truck. Awesome. The Backlash rematch was sweet too. The IC Title rivalry in 97 was pretty good. The beer truck, the Detroit bridge scene, and all the colorful interviews and trash talking were all great. These two had an amazing chemistry when working together which, in my opinion, takes the rivalry into legendary status and makes it THE best of all time.
Here is my opinion. This will sell. TO the casual fan the Austin-Rock rivalry was all kinds of fun. But to be honest it is not even in Austin or Rocks top 3 rivalries. Rock with Hunter and Foley were bigger for him as a character. Austin with McMahon and Bret were bigger for him as a character. Rock and Austin just happened to be the two popular starts for their era. The Hogan and Savage of the late 90s. Either way it could be good and I would get it but I fear it will have matches of only them against each other and I own literally every one.
Rock/Austin at WM19 was a great match but I dunno their rivalry never really did anything for me, not sure why it just didn’t. Still excited about the Nitro and old school Raw sets and the Million Dollar Man DVD set
