Kayfabe Commentaries - Jim Cornette Territories Series

Kayfabe Commentaries have announced a brand new series of releases titled: “Back to the Territories with Jim Cornette” – the series will feature the often outspoken Jim Cornette sitting down to discuss a particular territory with a major player from said territory. The first season will see Jim sit down to discuss: Mid-South Wrestling, Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and Stampede Wrestling. The first feature length episode will be released on November 4th.

Below is the official press release for the series:

JIM CORNETTE TO HOST NEW KAYFABE COMMENTARIES SERIES

Kayfabe Commentaries and Jim Cornette are proud to announce that the new shoot-series “Back to the Territories” will head into production this month for it’s inaugural season. The series, produced by Kayfabe Commentaries (YouShoot, Guest Booker, Timeline: The History of WWE) and co-written by Jim Cornette will take viewers back to the dozens of pro wrestling territories of the past, with one territory to be featured per episode of the series.

Host Jim Cornette will sit down with a major player from the featured territory on each episode and pore over the history, anecdotes, and rare memorabilia that will be on hand. The series taps Cornette’s vast historical knowledge and couples it with his interviewing skills and overall storytelling genius. Season 1 is slated to cover Mid South, Mid Atlantic, and Calgary.

Kayfabe Commentaries is hoping this will be seen as the long-form, definitive history of the pro wrestling territories of yesteryear. KC’s three ongoing series under the “Timeline” banner cover the WWE, WCW, and ECW history respectively, each edition producing a year-by-year microscopic analysis. “Back to the Territories” looks to do for the territories what the Timeline series has done for the larger federations.

Each episode of the series will be full feature length and is slated to premiere on DVD and OnDemand on November 4th.

However before we get to “Back to the Territories”, Kayfabe Commentaries will be releasing another two editions of their awesome “Timeline” series with New Jack discussing 1998 ECW (9/23) and Rick Martell talking some 1981 WWE (10/14).

We have heard from many readers who pre-ordered “Macho Man: The Randy Savage Story” from BestBuy.com that the release date had been brought forward from November 18th to September 30th. Regretfully this is an error and 11/18 is still the scheduled release date – sorry folks.

WDN - Take Over WeekFinally, Daniel is going to be away from the site for the next week (we can only presume that he was defeated in a loser leaves town match). However don’t worry as I will be taking over with… “TAKE OVER WEEK”! Keep checking back because as well as your regular dose of wrestling DVD news I will be having some sweeeeeet giveaways for you folks!

WWE Network Question: I was watching Wrestlemania 28 and noticed on Triple H vs Undertaker, there was no commentary after the match. I know the song was edited, but was this on the dvd too?

  4. Jordan B says:

Correction… on my amazon Canada account it says that the release date is Sept. 30 but still states Nov 18 on main product page. Weird… amazon has been making a lot of errors lately

  9. David says:

The Territories DVD sounds great. Jim Cornette might be crazy and still has old school mentality but he’s great to listen to. I hope they do a Timeline of WWE 1998 with Cornette.

Also on Kayfabe’s facebook they mentioned Curt Hawkins will be a doing Timeline series and based on the their site looks like its 2008 Blue. Could be quite interesting to hear since that was the year WWE changed their programming from adult to family friendly or the “PG era” as people like to say.

A 1989 WCW Timeline with Jim Cornette is coming in early 2015 as well – Jim Cornette discussing the Jim Herd era of WCW should be pretty interesting. Ha
