As was revealed so publicly recently, I’m looking for a new WWE DVD reviewer on the site. First I should say I appreciated all of Brett’s contributions but this situation gives the opportunity to bring in somebody who can review in more of a style I’d like for the website, fitting in with it’s theme. The long winded play-by-play type reviews, which were also not very specific to the DVD’s themselves, were somewhat against the rest of the site’s content.
I feel the website is very much DVD enthusiast focused and as such I think reviews should be tailored to that. Without trying to “toot my own horn”, the reviews I’ve written I guess are closer to what I’d like for the site…

However, writing the news on the site takes up a lot of time as it is. So I do need one more person to join in and I’m thinking reviews should focus solely on newly released WWE DVD’s, rather than going back. We have an archive now in terms of reviews, and since the site is focused on articles about new releases already, I think reviewing new DVD’s fits best.
Therefore a new reviewer would have to be prepared to buy most, if not all of the latest titles, or ideally they might already be doing that now. The documentary/feature/compilation sets, more so than PPVs. Also ideally, they would make the review as DVD focused as possible in terms of capturing screenshots of the feature and including those in a review, talking DVD extras, maybe even technical stuff (video/sound quality) and packaging artwork too.
As you can see this time in selecting a reviewer I want to make sure the content they are providing is very much fitting in with the rest of the site, DVD centered and covering new releases. All contributors to WWEDVDNews.com do so voluntarily, so this not a paid position. The “reward” is being part of this site and your reviews being viewed thousands of times each.. and I may throw a WWE DVD or two your way sometimes like I do for other contributors. 🙂
To summarise…
– Prepared to review most new major WWE DVD/BD titles on their release.
– Passionate about the topic, motivated to submit timely (written) articles.
– Must be a skilled writer, with strong, engaging style.
– Can be anywhere in the world, though US based is preferred due to release times.
– “DVD focused” reviews, rather than show reviews, or downloading a torrent.
– Reviews to be ‘exclusive’ to this site and not copied from, or used, elsewhere.
– Age non factor but long time wrestling fans (adults) preferred.
– Familiarity with WordPress and basic HTML (e.g. image embedding) preferred.
If you feel well suited to all of the above, then get in touch at wwedvdreviewer@gmail.com.
Please read this page carefully before emailing. It will be difficult to judge via communication alone, so it would also be helpful to provide a sample of a recent WWE DVD review of yours.
I look forward to finding our new reviewer and continuing to provide more great content to the WWEDVDNews.com readers!
– Daniel
DB, I wish you had time to do the reviews man. You have more knowledge than most people. I’m glad you want samples of reviews rather than just, “Hi I’m Andy and I enjoy Hulk Hogan matches. I’m from Arlington, Texas and I’m 13.”
I will continue to review also, as and when. And yeah, the person chosen will have the skills the site deserves. 🙂
I like match breakdowns & star ratings personally, as I feel it gives a good indication of the sets worth (i.e.) Hulk Hogan Unreleased, on paper looked bad, but after several in depth reviews & the one posted here I decided to get it, and it was much better then expected. Reviews on a Doc & a list of content doesn’t really help out, considering I only buy 10% of my DVDs for the docs. So reviewing the matches is VERY important to me!
Anonymous: The experience with WordPress/HTML is just preferred. I can teach what is needed. Send an email with sample reviews if you want, and I’ll take a look.
I fit everything you want/need except for the basic knowledge of HTML. Shame.
I’m 16 been a wrestling fan since 2 I know more about the business then a hell of alot of people and would love to do this but no time with school and soon work
Hey guys, name’s MagnumDA from the USA. I write often on the Disqus Network, and I’ve been reviewing for a number of blogs that gone under for one reason or another…I’ll be sending in a submission soon. Following the product 27 years, own every show from 1985-Rumble 2012. Hope to hear back from you, Daniel.
Come join the team! Good luck to everybody interested.
Proofreading their own reviews would be a major plus too. I noticed a lot in Mix’s reviews and he never seemed to fix them.
I agree with what Simon says.
Exactly Simon. I’ve wanted that for a long time, but appreciated Brett’s reviews as having value and their own following, too.
“DVD focused reviews, rather than show reviews”.
Absolutely this. Show reviews can be found all over the Internet already, written by the experts. If I were to read a review on this site, I’d want detailed info on packaging, picture/audio quality, runtimes, extras, languages, subtitles etc.
Good luck you guys. You deserve someone who can get the job done.
