Two Store Exclusive WWE: Best of WCW Clash of the Champions DVDs

As you know WWE “The Best of WCW Clash of the Champions” hit stores on DVD and Blu-ray formats across the United States yesterday (buy it).

The first news bit we heard regarding the release was from various readers getting in touch to say they are struggling to find the Blu-ray edition in any store. One reader, a Best Buy employee, informed us that a quick check of inventory revealed none of the stores local to them had the Blu-ray version stocked. The item is also currently “backordered” at Bestbuy.com. It is however shipping out from various online retailers, such as here.

The other news was that there are two store exclusives being offered. The first of which is the Best Buy exclusive with the two extra matches, whilst there is a Rise and Fall of WCW double pack available at FYE. Pics of both are shown below.

Best Buy Exclusive – 2 Bonus Matches

The two extra matches are confirmed to be those previously reported. This version has a different UPC (6-51191-95090-4), which is present on a sticker over the original UPC, in the same fashion as the FYE exclusive Best of Nitro DVD last year.

NWA United States Tag Team Championship Match
The Midnight Express vs. The Fantastics
Clash of the Champions – March 27, 1988

WCW World Heavyweight Championship Match
Hollywood Hogan vs. Ric Flair
Clash of the Champions XXXIII – August 15, 1996

FYE Exclusive – Double Pack (The Rise and Fall of WCW)

  1. Greg D. says:

Does the Blu-ray version from Best Buy contain the two exclusive matches also?

  2. Annonymous says:

I really think, and this is irrelevent, but WWE should re-release the WCW Nitro “Best Of” on Blu-Ray.

  3. Vincenzzzzzo says:

The Best Buy stores where I live NEVER seem to carry any WWE blu ray. I always order blu rays online instead.

  4. Captain America says:

@Daniel Bee and others is this worthing getting even though I’m a fan of the nWo and only has one nWo match on it? I grew up in the 90’s DX and nWo my two favorites.

    • Daniel Bee says:

I also got into wrestling in the 90s. I think people who lived the stuff on this DVD will appreciate it more, but if you’re into your old school matches I’m sure it’s a treat. For me it’s half and half, and personally I much prefer a documentary than match compilation.

      • Captain America says:

Thanks for your input, I’m a huge Macho Man fan not like Brett Mix who took it to another level but I’m considering passing on this DVD/Blu ray. Even though Macho Man and Hall plus DDP and Luger put on a great match.

Just give it some time. I’m sure there’ll come a point where WWE Shop has for $10 or something. I never saw any AWA but was curious about the DVD, eventually found it for $5.

  5. FRS says:

as I said in the other thread, we’ve had a lot of issues with wwe blus here at my bb. and even some dvds. example-the shawn vs bret one didnt show up until maybe a month after the release date as did the rumble 2012 blue (finally showed up for the 7.99 wwe blu sale-which is still ongoing btw). some of the ppv dvds like summerslam and noc 11 also didn’t show up until much later. I’m assuming it may be an issue of them not ordering the blu versions (yet we got wm 28 and edge blus in on release day no prob) thinking they won’t sell unless it is just an issue with the vendors.

  6. JAF says:

I bought a copy of the F.Y.E 2-Pack on May 11th & it did not have the 2 exclusive matches!

  7. shacmasta says:

Yea, Here in Nyc same problem with Best Buy not carrying any Blu-Ray Copies of the Clash of Champions Dvd. I obviously picked up the DVD considering it was discounted at 16.99 and The Bonus 2 Matches makes it a no brainer for me. I mean i hate the fact that I will probably pick up the Blu-Ray version as well, but i’m probably going to wait till the price drops. Hopefully it wont be too long till it does.

  8. Brandon says:

I went to best buy and they only had the DVD version of Clash of Champions. I asked the associate there if they were going to get the Blu Ray version and she said it was on backorder for online and for in store. I bought the DVD version anyway though.

  9. NickP says:

In Toronto, Ontario Canada there are no Blu Ray versions anywhere, however Bestbuy has the dvd for $19.99, if any Canadian readers didn’t know

    • Dave says:

I would have thought Best Buy Canada would at least carry this exclusive, since we do get same exclusives for Blu-ray movies that are exclusive at Best Buy US.

In this case it must depend on the distributor for WWE DVDs/Blu-rays and they only deal with the US and not Canada. It sucks that we don’t get them.

Was looking for the Blu-ray every where but couldn’t find it…so i just ordered it from Amazon using certificates i had. Was hoping to get it from Best Buy since i had $20 reward certificate set to expire soon.

  10. KirbbDogg says:

I would have really liked to see the flair Hogan match that was at Clash of the Champions in 94. That match was better then the 96 one that had. The the one they had in 96 was good.

  11. WWEBluFan says:

Just to clarify, the two Best Buy exclusive matches are only available on their DVD, and are not present on the blu-ray edition at all? If so, that’s unfortunate (and odd). I’d love to have that Hogan/Flair match, but I’d much rather buy the blu-ray version. I wish Best Buy had a blu-ray exclusive too so I didn’t have to choose.

  12. I ordered my blu ray 2 weeks ago expected delivery is tomorrow, originally delivery was June 2. Got my BB exclusive 3 disc DVD yesterday, life is good.

  13. Nickelback4lyfe says:

Waaaahhgf cant find bluerey. U can lik Vince ballx hhh24champlyfe Cena best4eva donet hat on wwe!!!!!!

  14. Anonymous says:

I had the same problem.. i ordered the blu ray through bestbuy.com with store pickup… went and they didnt have it… then they ordered it for me and 2 hours later got an email saying it was backordered… so i cancelled it and ordered it through amazon… still waiting for them to ship it.. this seems to be an ongoing issue with Best Buy.. I have had this issue on SEVERAL blu ray releases in the past..

  15. Steve says:

I finally found it at my local FYE. They got 1 copy of the Blu Ray! Ridiculous how I have 7 Best Buys and 10 Walmarts within 30 miles and none had the Blu Ray! It might be smart to order ECW on amazon now to avoid this problem with that.

  16. jgreeds says:

I came across the same trouble looking for the bluray. No one is carrying it in-store here. Had to settle on normal DVD

  17. RabidHeat says:

Is anybody else like me and obsessively checking the site all day hoping for an update to the Silver Vision situation? Every time I come back to the site and see another boring Clash update I die a little inside, lol.

    • stub says:

Your not the only one ha

      • Anonymous says:

had to get the blu-ray at fye also

        • Anonymous says:

Blu-Ray was $29.99 at FYE – didn’t see it at 2 Best Buys or 1 Walmart – ended up buying the Best Buy Exclusive DVD for $16.99 (the 3 extra matches aren’t worth the $13 difference, especially when Jessie’s commentary was cut out of the Sting/Steamboat vs Austin/Rude match).
