I will not be buying any wwe saudi dvd. i got greatest royal rumble as a novelty item. but in end i think this is deal is wrong. i dont subscribe to the wwe network. the roddy piper one is something im interested in when the match list is up.

  2. AK says:

Paige…would’ve preferred a career doc on her since her wrestling career is unfortunately over. Content listing could’ve included but not limited to
NXT debut and NXT women’s title tournament final
vs AJ Lee on post WM30 RAW
w/AJ vs Bellas – not the greatest match of her career but was her only match at WM.
The “PaigeBomb” promo on Charlotte where she said her success is only bc of her old man
    Retirement speech
Shane announcing her as SDL GM – the reaction she got here was awesome and well deserved

  3. RCS1988 says:

Here are some potential Piper dark matches/segments they can use. I know there are TV tapings where they are incomplete results, so it’s possible he competed at some of those.

    • AK says:

Can’t wait for this! Should be 3 discs but 2 better than 1 or none.

Hogan//Piper vs Flair/Justice…wanna talk about this one for a bit. If I’m not mistaken Taker was originally supposed to team w/Flair as they aired promos w/them before Taker turned face and then Sid Justice replaced him as Ric’s partner. Np w/them putting the match here but – just a suggestion – why not save it for a Hogan Unreleased set? Yes I know he got one already but considering who he is and how big his name is in the business and WWE in particular wouldn’t surprise me if he got another one. Just saying.

      • AK says:

Sorry for the double post. Not as easy on phones as it is on cpus. Didn’t get to state why I made that suggestion. It’s simply bc Hogan scored the win in the match.

  4. CMW says:

Maybe on the Piper DVD they will release his cage match against Hogan @ Halloween Havoc 1997. I know it’s not their best match, but he does get a clean win over Hogan. And correct me if I’m wrong, but I think it’s their only cage match against each other.

  5. BAS says:

I can brush off Miz’s DVD being 2 discs since it probably isn’t going to be a big release anyway, but why isn’t Piper 3 discs? At first, I figured there was just some DVDs that were getting the 2 disc treatment, like John Cena’s new one for instance, because him having past DVDs already, there really isn’t that much more to put out since all his big matches have been released. But now I’m as convinced as everyone else that WWE is cutting back on 3 discs sets and it’s a shame if that’s the case. And the irony of that is that I bet the best of Raw and Smackdown sets will still get the 3 disc treatment.

  6. Chris says:

Would be interested in the Miz set if it has a documentary. Don’t really need matches for him, almost his entire career is on the Network and I doubt there’s much in the vault other than maybe a tryout match and some after Raw dark main events.

I actually think two discs may be fine for the Piper set. They really padded out the Savage and Michaels sets with stuff that was very much released (Nitro stuff for Savage, Raw stuff for Michaels). If they just focus on actual unreleased content for Piper, I’d be interested.

    • RabidHeat says:

“They really padded out the Savage and Michaels sets with stuff that was very much released (Nitro stuff for Savage, Raw stuff for Michaels)”

Erm, that stuff hadn’t been released on DVD? I get that it had been on TV, but the point is it hadn’t been released on home media.

  7. RabidHeat says:

I think we can now confirm that the decrease down to 2 disc sets is being done as a cost-saving measure. There is no other reason for that Piper set to be only 2 discs.

    • David says:

DVD is basically a dead form of media and as long as people still buy WWE DVDs no matter what…they can even release them in single discs inside paper sleeves people will still buy them which basically tells WWE they can release any form of crap and fans will eat it….explains their current product now as well, it can be so bad but people will still spend 5-8 hours a week watching (not including PPVs) yet and complain online on message boards.

BD and 4K UHD is the only benefit on physical disc because even HD/4K internet streaming isn’t up there yet compared to actual BD and 4K discs due to compression.

For WWE their focus should be on the Network, that is the future like it or not…I think they just release DVDs to fulfill their contractual obligations to release a set number of DVDs per year with Warner and a small segment of the market will buy them. I think eventually they will do what UFC has done and completely stop releasing DVDs as UFC haven’t released a DVD in over 3 years and they focus on Fight Pass.

    • Andrew Hass says:

I think some if not most of Piper’s greatest matches have already been released on other DVDs.So maybe one of the reasons Piper’s upcoming DVD is only 2 disc is because the WWE don’t want to put in bad matches of his.

  8. Rowdy Roddy says:

The Roddy Piper Unreleased DVD set should be at least 4 Discs! If not 5 or 6 Discs! The Miz is getting a DVD set???? Boring! What about Rick Rude, Dusty Rhodes, Rick Martel, Goldust, Vader, Jim Neidhart, ??????

    • RabidHeat says:

      1. You can’t possibly have been expecting a 6-disc set for Piper? Even Austin only had 4.

      2. You can’t possibly have been expecting individual sets for Rick Martel and Jim Neidhart? Not discounting their abilities or contributions to the business, but how many copies of those do you really think would sell? Try looking at it from WWE’s perspective, which is one of trying to make a PROFIT.

  9. I am glad a new Piper dvd set is coming out but I still want to see another Hulk Hogan DVD set released.

    • Will says:

I agree Richard! Definitely need another Hogan collection!

      • RabidHeat says:

I’d really love to know why that’s a priority. Between Hulk Still Rules, The ULtimate Anthology and the Unreleased Collector’s Series, I feel like we’ve already had a hella lotta Hogan. I know there’s more stuff in the vaults for him, but then there is for lots of other people who haven’t even had an set yet.

  10. Nick says:

Piper dvd has huge potential. I was just watching his documentary and they showed footage of his match vs Chavo Guerrero from NWA Hollywood 1977. That would be a great addition. Hopefully they can find some AWA, Portland and Mid Atlantic matches. Finally a dvd to look forward to this year.

  11. meme says:

Good news about Piper. Too bad it’s two disc but I can understand. At least we are getting something unreleased this year. Miz sounds okay as well.

  12. Christian Robinson says:

Can we please get all the dark matches from Tuesday in Texas.

    • LP1 says:

Tuesday In Texas was also a TV taping for Prime Time Wrestling and Wrestling Challenge. In fact the infamous Barber Shop segment with The Rockers break-up was taped that same night. Besides the Prime Time and Challenge matches, there were 9 dark matches and 5 of them were squash matches. I highly doubt we’ll see them on DVD. The best bet is we’ll see them in the Hidden Gems section of the Network. A nice surprise recently, they put up the WrestleMania IX dark match with El Matador vs Papa Shango, which has never been seen anywhere.

  13. Zac says:

The Piper one has potential, I do like The Miz but don’t see me picking that one up as i will probably have most of the matches anyways and the ones I don’t will be on the network, hence why i think the Unreleased series needs to be done more.
I’m just waiting for a Ric Flair one.

  14. scott pearson says:

Great a Piper dvd but where is Andre the giants unreleased ?

    • Straightedge47 says:

Did Andre ever really have any good matches though? He was all about the spectacle so wouldn’t 2+ discs just get repetitive with that low match quality?

  15. whut says:

I’m excited for the Piper set! (lots of stuff that could potentially be on there) and The Miz set could end up alright, depending on the particular listing.

  16. Anthony says:

I’ve been thinking, for Piper it might not be all dark matches. Rather stuff that was televised and hasn’t been released. I hope there are at least a couple of dark matches.

  17. Paul says:

I like the Iconic Matches series, even if the matches aren’t exactly Iconic so I don’t have a problem with those, especially since Paige and Becky aren’t likely to get full DVD sets

I’ve been saying for a while that The Miz deserves the DVD treatment and Unreleased Piper is great news. However, 2 disc sets? *sigh* There’s more than enough footage from both guys to fill 3 discs. Why don’t WWE just say what they are really doing? DVD releases are on borrowed time

  18. Anthony says:

FINALLY a Piper unreleased. Can’t wait!!!

  19. Thomas says:

Looking forward to have Money In The Bank 2019, Stomping Grounds & Extreme Rules 2019 PPV DVDS in my hands with the new WWE Saudi Arabia PPV DVD as well since no release date for WWE Crown Jewel 2018
