WWE SummerSlam 2012 Blu-ray, More on Rock vs. Cena DVD, CM Punk

June 7, 2012 by Daniel Bee

New information via Shock Entertainment reveals that SummerSlam 2012 is currently slated for a Blu-ray release, which is expected to be the case worldwide. You may recall last year’s event was released only on DVD domestically, but made it to BD format in Europe.

The planned WWE Home Video project we revealed this week, entitled “The Rock vs. John Cena: Once in a Lifetime”, is penciled in right now for a September release.

CM Punk’s highly anticipated WWE DVD release is on the schedule for early October, also to be produced on Blu-ray format.

Of the remaining planned Superstar Collection titles, it appears the Shawn Michaels and Rey Mysterio DVDs will be released first, followed by Randy Orton and Kofi Kingston.

Fans in UK/Europe can now pre-order WWE WrestleMania 28 over here, on DVD or Blu-ray formats. Both versions are scheduled to be released in July.

The 3-Disc DVD edition also contains The Rock: Great Ones on the second disc, which was recently released as store exclusives in the United States and Australia. The Blu-ray will be a 2-Disc release with the same content as that released to other regions.

WWEShop has exclusive T-Shirt packages up to order for ECW Unreleased Vol. 1, and WCW Clash of the Champions DVD and Blu-ray over here.

– ECW Unreleased Vol. 1 is reportedly performing very well in sales early on. The Blu-ray edition is currently back-ordered here on Amazon, whilst a few of our readers are also having trouble ordering it with Best Buy.

Paul Heyman noted on Twitter that it’s been Amazon’s number one best seller in the Sports category this week, and HeymanHustle.com published the following post.

Based on the global success of The Rise And Fall of ECW (which actually was the catalyst for the June 12, 2005 ECW One Night Stand pay per view from The Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City) and Bloodsport: ECW’s Most Violent Matches, WWE has shipped ECW UNRELEASED VOLUME 1 on both DVD and Blu-Ray.

Both our HustleTweeters on THE HEYMAN HUSTLE “TWITTER” PAGE and our Fans on THE HEYMAN HUSTLE FACEBOOK PAGE have been posting messages day and night, telling the same story over and over again. Everywhere they go, everywhere they look, everywhere they call, the ECW UNRELEASED VOLUME 1 DVD / Blu-Ray is sold out.

Did someone already get the chance to check The Rock’s Highlight Reel? I wonder how it is compared to the quotes on his ‘Electrifying’ DVD set.

I UNDERSTAND WHY THERE IS A ECW SHIRT WITH THE BLU-RAY… BUT WHY IS THERE A BEST OF WCW CLASH OF THE CHAMPIONS T-SHIRTS??? DOESNT MAKE SENSE.

    • Daniel Bee says:

They often put DVD logo/cover art on a T-Shirt to go along with the DVD in a package. Most of that nobody would wanna wear. Some WWE DVD enthusiasts surfing this site might but that’s about it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

BETTER YET WHERE IN THE WORLD IS THE MATCH LISTING FOR FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE DVD. THIS IS A SHAME.

Where is the Attitude Era dvd? or anything about the “best of RAW” series again? anything about a IN YOUR HOUSE Anthology complete set?

    • Vincenzzzzzo says:

No, this particular thread is about the 2012 SummerSlam bluray. Care to discuss anything about the actual topic?

  5. NickP says:

The Clash of the Champions dvd and the ECW Unreleased dvd were great sets that WWE should continue to build off of like a Unreleased ECW volume 2, and more Best of WCW events. The ECW dvd is flying off shelves here in Toronto Ontario, Canada.. A lot of stores have the Bluray/DVD on back order

I could care less if their blue ray or not.

So to get everything you’d have to buy it twice right? I don’t like that sort of thing.

Good news about the SummerSlam bluray. I just don’t like when they keep switching from DVD to bluray to DVD again for PPV events. I wish they were all bluray. I really could have used Extreme Rules 2012 in bluray :/

    • Anonymous says:

Totally agree with you. I hope they didn’t switch like last year and not release SummerSlam on blu-ray. I don’t bother buying any PPV events that aren’t on blu-ray, I’m spoiled with the extras.

    • Dave says:

      I agree.

But with Silver Vision producing again…will probably end up importing the Blu-rays not available here…too bad they region locked them with TLC 2011. But i bought a region free Blu-ray player recently so have a whole lot of options for Tagged classics and Blu-rays.

Highly suggest getting one…you will not regret it.

The only way I will buy a ppv on DVD if it’s just too good of an event and it’s not released on blu-ray any where (i.e., Money in the Bank 2011).

How much did you pay for the region free blu-ray player? Where did you buy it from?

        • Vincenzzzzzo says:

They vary in prices, depends on where you go. They’re fairly cheap though, maybe $80-$90. I have a Toshiba that plays Region free DVD’s, but only US blurays. I wasn’t thinking when I bought mine. I just made sure it played DVD+RW’s and didn’t think about Region codes.

          @ Anonymous

I got the Oppo bdp93…it’s $500 but it’s one of the best bluray players in the market and extremely well built.

          • Daniel Bee says:

I still have my Momitsu BDP-799 player which is region free for DVD and Blu-ray by inputting switching codes on the remote. Imported it quite a few years ago when they were still being produced and still plays everything I throw at it, even though I can’t update the firmware because later versions took away the region free capability. The company got in trouble with the studios or something.

I handle it gently because if it breaks it’s a safe assumption I won’t find another of those machines!
