It was revealed today by Silver Vision that the WWE Extreme Rules 2011 Blu-ray will contain the following exclusive special features:
The Rock’s Birthday Celebration
Monday Night Raw 2nd May, 2011
Edge’s Retirement Announcement
SmackDown 15th April, 2011
John Cena’s Draft Night
Monday Night Raw 25th April, 2011
This is a change from the usual format of including segments from the episode of Raw prior to the PPV only. We can speculate Edge’s retirement speech will be in full, whilst the other two pieces will consist of highlights of John Cena being drafted to Smackdown then back to Raw on the same night, and segments from the Raw which celebrated The Rock’s birthday.
Both the Blu-ray and DVD edition will contain a post-match interview with Christian after his World Heavyweight Championship victory. In the UK the Extreme Rules 2011 Blu-ray will have a bonus disc containing the entire Smackdown episode from April 29th, 2011.
Chris Jericho said in a recent interview with The Score that if he had his way he’d get a DVD produced which documents his 2008 feud with Shawn Michaels. Agree with you there Chris!
Love the fact that WWE is now starting to release their Pay-Per-Views on Blu-ray, maybe a year from now WWE will stop producing DVDs and focus only on Blu-rays?
Blu/dvd combo pack are good for those that haven’t gone the blu route yet but hope to in the future. The can have the ppv now and have a better quality, and on those rare occasions more features, when they make the switch down the line.
i wish they would continue with the bd/dvd combo pack
There are region free capable Blu-ray players out there. For example I’ve got a Momitsu BDP-799 (Japan origin) and it’s played any WWE Blu-ray I’ve thrown at it so far. Bought that about 2 years ago so I could collect BDs from any region.
No BD/DVD combo packs scheduled between now and August, looks like they’ve stopped.
@JFR, PAL and NTSC have nothing to do with it. There’s just regions now. PAL/NTSC had to do with picture format. American TVs were NTSC, Region 2 were PAL. HD is one picture format, so the BDs would play on our TVs, it’s just the matter of a region free player being created.
@Rob I Hope so, Did not really see much point in them.
Are they done making the Blu-Ray/DVD combo packs?
I agree that here in the US that we don’t get full episodes of RAW or SmackDown (not even included anymore). On Survivor Series ’10 Blu-ray there is only 2x 45 to 50 minutes of the 3 hour OLD SCHOOL RAW. Wish the WWE Silvervision BDs would be able to play here in the US without having a Blu-ray Player that is region free and convert PAL to NTSC.
WWE is becoming greedy with their special features (especially to america that doesn’t get smackdowns on blu-ray anymore)on blu-ray now by not putting the whole Raw Draft show it seems like they didn’t put the whole show of raw on the Wrestlemania 27 blu-ray either and why not put the Cena vs Miz match from the same day as the rocks birthday? WWE should do what they did with both Rumble and Mania 2010 by including a seperate disc with both the Raw and Smackdowns leading up to the PPVs this is just becoming lazy!
