Earlier this week we reported exclusively that WWE was set to change the planned artwork for their first-ever Home Video release on Owen Hart, which is upcoming on DVD and Blu-ray formats at the end of this year and will feature a documentary on Owen’s life and career.
UPDATE (10/17): The change has been made to the cover artwork as we anticipated. WWE have been in touch with us directly to state that the update came about due to a creative decision.
Now, “The King of Harts” is shown prominently on the cover. Rumor has it that the decision came down from the absolute top of the organisation as they wanted something more befitting Owen.
The content of the DVD and Blu-ray remains unaffected, as does your pre-order for December.
So, here it is – the updated artwork for “Owen: Hart of Gold” on DVD and Blu-ray…

@RABIDHEAT and JOHN:
I agree with both of you. The Owen Hart picture is nice, but like John, I’d have preferred the King of Harts logo over the rafters. Did you guys ever play the WWF Attitude game on Playstation or Nintendo 64? There was a picture of Owen Hart with his Slammy trophies. That pic would have been a perfect cover art too.
I’m not sure how I feel about the rafters being so prominently shown behind him! Considering what happened involving them. Just think they could have put a blurry picture of a crowd there instead to be a little more sensitive.
I like the cover better but I am dissapointed they removed King of Harts picture on the spine, it belongs on there since he is the King of Harts after all
Much better! I thought the other one looked total placeholder. This one isn’t great or anything, but I like that it’s a big picture of Owen instead of the rocket heart design.
A little something that always bugged me as a kid, the logo on Bret and Owen’s chest (and Anvil too) were always never centered from 93 til about 97, they were always way too left or way too right. It wasn’t until the Hart Foundation reformed and the Hart logo was enlarged did they finally center them properly on their tights.
I don’t know for sure why they did it, but the location in that picture more or less corresponds with the actual location of the heart. That’s my guess for the reason.
The cover looks alright.
As first, I was going to scream “F U” because I thought Martha Hart had another fit again. Atleast it wasn’t that.
Ohhh like she needs the ammo lol
I think they missed a trick by not having Owen in his King Of The Ring Crown as the cover – at least they have a Slammy Owen on the spine!
