FYE Exclusive WWE Very Best of WCW Nitro DVD Extras Revealed

June 7, 2011 by Daniel Bee

Thanks to the fine folks over at DVDTalk Forum, we now know the extra footage on the FYE store exclusive Very Best of WCW Monday Nitro DVD – buy FYE exclusive.

The additional footage is located in an extras menu on Disc 1. Physically, the set looks exactly the same other than the FYE/Suncoast sticker on the packaging. These are the extras:

Rey Mysterio Jr. vs Mr. JL
26th August, 1996

DDP Monday Nitro Highlights
(Package of DDP’s career highlights on Nitro)

Afraid of Heights
(DDP talks about when Sting took him up in the rafters)

These three extras are not present on the standard edition released in North America, only this FYE exclusive. However, the UK version to be released by Silver Vision later this month looks to have this bonus material included as standard. This is a usual occurance for that market.

  2. Anonymous says:

yeah i just read the tweet that tick317 tweeted to silvervison. he confirmed it with silvervision its the same as fye…

    Afraid of Heights
(DDP talks about when Sting took him up in the rafters)

is that the only thing missing in the uk version then db???

  4. Chris says:

Well the extras are nothing special but since I wasn’t going to cost me any more I got someone to pick this up for me.

  5. oldschool says:

I bought the fye special edition, I would read the previous entries. There is really nothing special on this edition. They should of put a fourth disk on it. The ddp highlights are nothing special. The scared of heights deal looks like a deleted scene. And the match is a good match with two good workers.

  6. Austin says:

What a waste, those aren’t that special, could of at least maybe add a special 4th disc like they did with Hogan’s Ultimate Anthology and Warrior’s DVD is the past

  7. Mark D says:

I just watched the Rey Mysterio vs. Mr JL (Jerry Lynn) Cruiserweight Title Match and this match is a quintessentially Monday Nitro mid-card match, we get a commercial break, we cut backstage where the nWo proceed to spray paint a production truck (we cut to this several times), from at that point the announcers (Tony Schiavone & Larry Zbyszko) who kind of loose interest in the match and begin discussing the incident backstage as well as the upcoming Fall Brawl PPV. Dean Malenko (former Cruiserweight Champion is also looking on from the stage). Additionally to add a little more distraction to the match we enter hour 2 of Nitro where we have pyro & ballyhoo (complete with wide shots of the arena and the stage) and an announcer change (all this as the match is ongoing!) and Eric Bischoff & Bobby Heenan take over the announcing duties. Rey eventually wins the match via pinfall. Overall the match is meh, but its classic WCW action (not really in a good way tho) 😉

You can;t even order the dvd through FYE if you live in Canada.

  9. indyfan says:

i would like to see jerry lynn vs rey. that is really annoying. Either way the set looks great.

  10. Daniel Bee says:

indyfan: Turns out UK’s version has the extras as standard and the original content listing for the DVD released on the ‘net is for that version, so that’s why you may see it. In the US though those are only on the FYE exclusive.

  11. indyfan says:

I don’t get it? Isn’t Rey vs Mr L a bonus on the regular version? I don’t care about the DDP being afraid of heights or the highlight video.

  12. matthew S says:

So I didn’t miss anything since I got it from Wal_Mart. I was afraid it was going to be big matches not stuff that could end up on a DDP DVD.

  13. Greg says:

Does anyone know how limited this release is? Might be worth it to pick a few up and sell down the line sometime

  14. Rob L says:

That’s it? I was expecting more than that. You’re best bet is to head out to K-Mart or WWEshop and pick up the package deals.
