Looks like the store exclusive version of next week’s Best of Clash of the Champions DVD will be carried by Best Buy.
A scan of a Best Buy ad found at Examiner.com reveals it will be their exclusive and priced at $16.99 on release. This would explain why a listing for the release on Walmart’s site contained “BBY” and was quickly pulled.
Two extra matches are slated to be included on this set, namely The Midnight Express vs. The Fantastics from March 1988, and Hollywood Hogan vs. Ric Flair from August 1996.
Thanks to reader Bryan G for passing on this news.
The HMV/Fopp Records employee in the UK who informed us the WrestleMania 28 was changed to “discontinued” on their system recently, has today noticed it has been reverted back to normal. The same release date of July 9th is referenced. This is not a definite answer that the unknown Silver Vision/WWE situation has now been resolved but might perhaps be a positive sign. Further updates are expected soon.
“The 50 Greatest Finishing Moves in WWE History” is now available to pre-order on DVD and Blu-ray for August, over at http://amzn.to/JlZUHp.
According to Mike Johnson at PWInsider the lawsuit filed against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and WWE, over legalities of the usage of Mayweather’s entrance theme at Wrestlemania 24, was dismissed last week in court. As you know, WWE removed the Wrestlemania 24 DVD and Blu-ray from sale whilst the dispute was ongoing, but as a result of the new ruling they are now free to produce and sell the title again, should they choose to.
Jesse Ventura’s commentary has been muted on the upcoming Clash of the Champions DVD/BD set. It also appears Michael Buffer’s ring introductions have been cut out.

Still no word from Silver Vision on upcoming releases. It is as if WWE ceased to exist in Europe.
Does the Blu Ray version for Best Buy has the extra 2 exclusive Best Buy matches that are on the 3 Disc DVD Set?
Nope.
When I got to work at Best Buy today, I noticed we only had the dvd “exclusive” version out on the floor. A quick check of our inventory revealed none of the local stores had the blu version in and bestbuy.com also states it is “backordered”. The same thing occured with the bret vs hbk blu and even the rumble blue and both wound up showing up in the store like a month later. I wound up just getting the dvd for now since its the exclusive and maybe Ill get the blu version if I find it cheap enough online or whatever. So yeah as of right now it is likely that no BB location has the bluray version.
No Jesse, NO purchase for George Schire. Sorry guys I’m going to pass due to this.
Is the Best Buy exclusive only with the DVD version or would the Blu-Ray have these extras also?
The Blu-ray has it’s own set of extras (3 matches) according to Silver Vision’s listing. Click ‘Listings’ at the top of this site and navigate to the Clash content.
I just wasn’t sure if they would have “The Midnight Express vs. The Fantastics from March 1988, and Hollywood Hogan vs. Ric Flair from August 1996” on the Blu-Ray also with the other Blu-Ray extras if you purchase it at Best Buy, since those matches seem to be Best Buy exclusives.
Has anybody actually seen a listing of Best Buy selling the bluray? I went to their website and all they have is the DVD
Put ‘wcw clash’ in their search box and it’s right there.
Thanks, Mr Bee. I swear I searched for it yesterday and it was nowhere to be seen.
I love all this stress over having to buy these store versions of the official Best of CotC set to get two extra matches. Why not just make/track down a custom complete set of all the complete shows, with Ventura’s commentary, no ratio bars and all the matches, many featuring better performers and in-ring action as opposed to just the big names.
Of course I am by no-means suggesting that anybody pay for such a custom set. 😉
I won’t name any names, but there was a beautiful website that had the Clash full shows and I was also going to get the WCW Halloween Havoc antholgy, but when I finally had the money, they weren’t selling them anymore. I was pissed.
I know the website your talking about…WWE found out put a stop to it…I bought several WCW ppvs and couple Nitro and Thunder seasons and they are pretty awesome.
If you dealt with them in the past, you can still buy buy from them privately.
I think they only have the Nitro and Thunder seasons left on there. The WCW, ECW, AWA pay-per-views are nowhere to be found. Gone. I kinda figured someone found out about it and put a stop to it. It seemed too funny that everyone would have sold out of their stock at the same exact time.
Lol, well there’s always the website that is basically like eBay but with no rules, again, I won’t name names! But you can get any scrap of wrestling footage you’ve ever wanted off there, usually with custom cover art and the lot. 🙂 Complete WCW Pay-Per-View anthologies, fll yars of WWF/WCW TV programming, you name it. 🙂 You start feeling like you don’t need Silver Vision or WWE Home Video after a while, lol.
full years *
Hey if it is exclusive to the DVD what does that mean for the BluRay? Do I have to buy the DVD to get these 2 matches?
Blu-ray gets 3 exclusive matches…i guess WWE wanted to satisfy DVD owners with their set of exclusives.
HOLY WHAT?!? They cut Jesse’s commentary? I was joking about that yesterday, they actually cut it? They used to cut it, then they didn’t, now they do?
***CORNETTE FUCKING FACE***
I guess it depends on the release…on the Clash set, doesn’t look like too many matches with Ventura on commentary so WWE probably thought why give Ventura certain percentage of sales for 1 or 2 matches.
They seem to pay up with bigger releases like the Anthologies.
it’s only 2 matches. i can live with that i’ll buy blu ray version only. also what pisses me off is this “Jesse Ventura’s commentary has been muted on the upcoming Clash of the Champions DVD/BD set. It also appears Michael Buffer’s ring introductions have been cut out.” what’s up with that?
Michael Buffer has always been edited out on WCW releases by WWE…only time he was included was Royal Rumble 2008. Its nothing new. I read he asks insane amount of money to use his voice.
On Best of Nitro they dubbed his intro with David Penzer during the Goldberg/Hogan match.
Maybe someone can help me here, but with all these different versions im confused… So Best Buy has the Blu-Ray, which if you get the Blu-Ray has 3 extra matches on it? But the Blu Ray turns out to also be a store exclusive? so that has 2 matches on it? Technically if I get the blu ray from best buy im getting 5 extra matches total? am i getting this right?
ok, wait, i think im wrong… if you get the REGULAR DVD VERSION at Best Buy you get 2 extra matches, but if you buy the Blu-Ray you get 3 extra matches? So technically you have to buy the regular and blu ray to get all 5 bonus matches? right?
I think that’s correct. HOWEVER, I have not seen any listings of Best Buy actually carrying the blu ray. Only the DVD. Has anyone else seen the blu ray for Best Buy?
The bluray will only have the 3 exclusive matches…the DVD version from best buy will have the 2 store exclusive matches.
So SRB is correct you would have to get the bluray and DVD to get the 5 exclusive matches.
Don’t forget Best Buy (or their website at least) will also sell the standard version which does not have the extra 2 matches.
So yeah, to get everything you need the BBY exclusive DVD and the Blu-ray. The Blu-ray will be the same wherever you buy it.
Last week I was going to order the WrestleMania 24 blu ray from Amazon. I don’t think they ever pulled it from sale. Its always been available on amazon…
Sucks about the exclusives on DVD only. I really want the Flair and Hogan match, so I’ll buy both versions I guess.
But on Amazon it was likely to be third party sellers that you saw with it. That was the case when I last checked. It wasn’t on WWEShop, and it had definitely been taken down from Silver Vision due to the lawsuit.
Oh, ok. That makes sense. I didn’t think about the 3rd party sellers actually.
Im only getting the Blu Ray. WWE shouldn’t screw their fans this way. So ill find those two extra matches some other way.
I’m a collector so they got me here. I plan on buying both versions, removing the two discs from the DVD set that don’t contain the exclusive matches, and putting the blu-rays in that set. I wish the blu-ray sets had the artwork of the DVD sets anyway, so I guess I’ll get a little something for this “$40” set.
Do you know if the extra DVD at Best Buy will be included with the Blu Ray?
No, you would have to purchase the Blu-ray and Best Buy exclusive DVD to get the complete matches.
Okay, my question was already answered. That sucks because my Best Buy neer has any wrestling dvd’s in stock.
The DVD that’s listed on Best Buy’s website doesn’t list the two extra matches if you look under the “details” tab. Should I assume that if I order online I’m still going to get the exclusive version?
will the clash dvd be in store only at best buy or is the preorder on their site also the exclusive edition?
I would say in store only unless another listing shows up on their site.
Thanks for the reply Daniel Bee. I realized that my answer was on the thread after I posted the same question that was asked about 100 times! I packnicked because I had no idea about the Best Buy Exclusive until I came across it yesterday…but my Best Buy didn’t have the Blu Ray edition. I purcahsed the Blu Ray edition at another local video store (Hastings)….it was the only one left on stock!
I really don’t like how they keep cutting out Jesse Ventura’s commentary. Not only that, but they could at least put in some special commentators for those matches. Just so they don’t have those blank spots.
