SILVER VISION’S ANNUAL WRESTLEMANIA RELEASE RATED 12 FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THEIR DVD CATALOGUE.
London – 13th May 2011 – WrestleMania XXVII, one of the biggest titles in the Silver Vision catalogue, has been rated ‘12’by the BBFC.
Among the first releases within the Silver Vision portfolio to secure a ‘12’ rating, WrestleMania XXVII will benefit from a broader consumer appeal and wider opportunities with the company’s retail partners, helping to secure forecasted sales of the DVD and other forthcoming titles. WrestleMania XXVII joins a collection of titles including the recent PG rated movies The Chaperone (released 18th February) and That’s What I Am (released 13th May in cinemas and 11th July DVD and Blu-Ray) which feature WWE’s roster of superstars (Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque and Randy Orton).
Ian Allan, Owner of Clear Vision commented “We are extremely pleased with the BBFC rating. This will definitely help to better position the brand and our current roster of WWE titles, providing a greater exposure to the family market. The addition of WWE Studios and its forthcoming releases have also paved the way for the WWE brand to target a much younger demographic.”
The classification awarded by the BBFC reflects the new strategy implemented by Vince McMahon, Chairman and CEO, WWE, which included formally rebranding itself to WWE for future business growth. The revised brand strategy aims to make WWE a more family friendly entity and better reflect the company’s global entertainment offerings which also include a renewed partnership with Mattel.
Vince McMahon, Chairman and CEO, WWE commented “We will always be loyal to our core business that made WWE a globally known entity, however, the future of WWE will be the addition of new entertainment content opportunities beyond the ring.”
