Exclusive: Official Details on WWE’s Stone Cold Steve Austin DVD – How Many Discs?

August 8, 2011 by Daniel Bee

WWEDVDNews.com can now exclusively reveal first official details on WWE’s final Stone Cold DVD, to be released on November 29th, 2011.

The working title right now is simply Stone Cold Steve Austin, naturally expected to change.

We can 100% confirm the feature will be released on both DVD and Blu-ray formats.

The DVD edition will be a 3-Disc set. This is also 100% factual, as listed on WWE’s schedule right now. Austin’s recent tweet referring to a 4 or 5-Disc release has not come to fruition.

As usual for the features of this size, the Blu-ray version will be a 2-Disc set.

Here’s the official synopsis for “Stone Cold Steve Austin”:

He’s one of the most popular Superstars in the history of sports-entertainment, with a resume that includes six WWE Championship reigns, three Royal Rumble victories, a King of the Ring Championship, and an unprecedented run of raising hell throughout WWE. Stone Cold Steve Austin continues to be both popular and controversial, with the recent success of Tough Enough, his highly anticipated appearances on WWE Raw, and his continued movie career, the Texas Rattlesnake is still a pop culture force, and there has never been a comprehensive biography done until now. Stone Cold Steve Austin looks at the life and career of Austin, and includes exclusive, never-before-seen interviews with Austin and many of his in-ring rivals. CREDIT WWEDVDNEWS.COM!

  2. Mikel Menas says:

  3. kaneos says:

Austin vs Bret at WM 13 HAS to be on here, i was shocked it wasn’t on Legacy

  4. teamDeXtreme says:

this should be awesome!!!!! but hopefully in this one they actually acknowledge stone colds matches and career after wrestlemania x7, unlike the legacy of stone cold steve austin dvd, which just eneded with stone cold talking about his past carrer after the wm x7 match, no mention at all about the 2 man power trip or his last match at wm XIX vs the rock!!!!

  5. Anonymous says:

Shame it should be 6 discs!Still, i´m really excited about it!

  6. chrono says:

It will be four discs DVD, three discs Blu-Ray. It is known.

  7. The Champ says:

What about calling this DVD “The Bottom Line” since it’s supposed to be the definitive collection?

  8. That title may not change, It’s actually pretty simple, Suits Austin’s persona, nothing fancy.

  9. Ricky Schmidt says:

@The Champ, I’m pretty sure it wasn’t since, you know…it mentions Tough Enough.

  10. The Champ says:

If not, it must have been very similar

  11. The Champ says:

Wasn’t this the synopsis for the Legacy of Stone Cold Steve Austin DVD?

  12. X says:

honestly, a lot of matches were already collected on the Legacy DVD. I bet if you combine that one and this set, you will have the ultimate Stone Cold collection

  13. Anonymous says:

with the austin dvd 3-disc,lot of great dvds to look foward to this year randy orton, ladder match 2,bret vs hbk, king of the ring,if that comes out this year.and hopefully we will still see million dollar man ted dibiase’s dvd come out.if not i’ll be very disappointed.

  14. Nate says:

DAMN IT i thought it would have been a 4 or 5 disc set

  15. CJ says:

They better stuff the hell out of it though.

  16. Steve says:

    disappointing

  17. Anonymous says:

Austin is better than Hogan. But if you ask someone whose never watched wrestling if they know any wrestlers they usually know Hulk Hogan and thats it. Its no surprise that Hogan got 4 discs. But to be honest by the time each wrestler has had a couple of releases it doesnt matter that much because its at least 7 discs each then. But I’d prefer a single definitive collection for each wrestler personally.

  18. Alan says:

On the basis that this time last month I didn’t even know about this DVD, I’d gladly accept a new 3-disc set for Austin. Let’s be fair – his career was never defined by his matches, it was his character that set him apart. Thus, more than seven hours of bonus matches would be a little tiresome (for me, anyway) – especially when most of the key bouts are available on other sets already.

As long as there’s a two-hour plus documentary, unreleased matches and some key promos, I’ll be a happy bunny.

  19. Nate says:

As as we stay away from a majority of repeats from the “Legacy” DVD, this will be good. “Legacy” ignored his heel run in 2001, so let’s hope some of those matches (ie w/Angle) make the cut.

  20. Josh says:

I’m expecting some store-exclusive bonus discs with this one.

  21. John23 says:

I wish they would change it to a 4-disc DVD and a 3-Disc Blu-Ray. There are so many stuff I want to see on the disc.

  22. Lawrence says:

That is disappointing. I was expecting a larger DVD release, rather than just the standard three-disc variety.

  23. jason says:

I was hoping for 4 or 5 discs but I will settle for 3 as long as it is quality stuff on those discs and not trash. Hopefully Austin v Rock will still come out and the those matches will be on that set and some of the promos between them as well.

  24. straightedge47 says:

I hope they actually use the three disks the way they use to with 9 hours of footage, rather than having it at 6 hours like most WWE 3 disk sets that are available on Blue Ray seem to be.

  25. LovexYouxLotsx says:

3 disc set yet hulk hogan got 4 in his dvd he dint even derserve a 4th disc austin is the best of the best he defo deserves a 4 disc treatment yet they cant give it to the fans after all that austin has done, if your going to release 1 final dvd on the best wrestler ever at least go out with a bang instead of giving us the same 3 discs treatment do something special yet wwe cant even do this, its a shame to be honest but hopefully this set will be of high quality 🙂

  26. SRB says:

Im sure the content for this and ladder match 2 will be relased soon.. we have some great dvd’s up before the close of the year. HBK/Hart 3 disc, Orton 3 disc, Ladder match 3 disc, SCSA 3 disc and hopefully KOTR 3 disc will all be released before the end of the year. Wish this was a 5 disc.. Steve needs it..
