In a conversation with Steve Austin on there reminiscing about old times in the business, Foley revealed he was in Stamford yesterday with WWE specifically for this purpose.

Mick Foley: Those were good times, kid. I was just in Stamford, CT today, shooting the Attitude DVD, saying @steveaustinBSR was THE man in that era!
Not much to go off, yet sounds very promising at the same time. If it’s the Attitude Era DVD that we think it is, then Mick was probably at WWE Headquarters to either provide interview footage for a documentary, or perhaps shooting segments as the host of the feature.
One way they could do it is a “Best of The Attitude Era” set, a compilation of 1997-2001 footage, with Mick Foley as the host. Just a guess right now, but we’ll give details when we have them.
Mark on the WWEDVDNews team recently created the concept cover art below as part of his “fantasy” feature. It’s based on what he feels a possible Attitude Era themed WWE DVD should look like, and the name given to it was WWE Attitude: Uncut and Uncensored.

I remember the good ol’ times watching SmackDown! (not Raw is War) during the Attitude Era when I was little from the late 90s up to early 2000s for me. That was my most favorite era of all time.
The Attitude era wasn’t just hardcore,blading,whatever
Attitude era was made up of the stars and storyline that went with the monday nights wars….Attitude Era=Monday Night Wars
It ended a week before WMX7 when WCW was bought….that doesn’t mean wrestling sucked, it was still good…the attitude era doesn’t mean entertaining wrestling, other eras besides now are entertaining
The more I think about it, I almost feel like the Attitude Era could now, retrospectively, be looked upon as continuing until WWE went PG several months following Chris Benoit’s death.
Because if you think about it, in 2002 we had the return of the nWo, the violent acts perpetrated by them and HBK being bludgoned into a wheel chair state with a sledgehammer by his best friend, several violent street fight-type matches (including a Hardcore Match between Trish/Victoria!) and the bloody first-ever Elimination Chamber.
In 2003 we had things like Katie Vick, Zach Gowen’s leg being pulled off, H.L.A., the debut of loose cannons like Goldberg/Scott Steiner and the thrilling conclusion to the Austin/Rock WrestleMania saga, which was born from The Attitude Era.
In 2004 we had the Undertaker burying Paul Bearer in cement, Evolution beat-downs and disrespect of legends-aplenty from the likes of Randy Orton, JBL’s tirade on the Latin-American community, and all of the usual foul-mouthed antics that had been around since Attitude (I remember Paul Heyman calling us all w*nkers in Sheffield, that year! Lol.)
In 2005 we had the Edge/Lita ‘Live Sex’ celebration and flaming tables at ECW One Night Stand. In 2006 we had Edge planting Mick Foley through a flaming table in practically the most brutal match ever to take place at WrestleMania, the reformation of D-Generation X, the return of ECW as a television show and the “lesbian” overtones and crotch-grab of the Trish/Mickie James feud. (It’s up to you if you count the fact that we got to see William Regal’s penis at No Mercy, lol!) And in 2007, well…here’s where it all falls apart. But I feel like the non-PG programming went out in a blaze of glory (quite literally) with the limousine explosion and the (looking back, rather funny) Vince paternity test storyline.
Throughout all these years, Hardcore still regined, wrestlers were blading and Hell In A Cell’s were as brutal as ever. Mae Young would still get planted through a table or stunnered once a year.
I just feel like, since the 2002-2007 period never really got given a name (the forgotten ‘Ruthless Aggression’ moniker became little more than a name for the toy line) and since the product stayed as risque as ever, why aren’t we just calling that a continuation of the Attitude Era? I just don’t buy that it ended at WrestleMania X-Seven. WCW/ECW being bought out has no bearing in my opinion on the WWF/E’s Attitude Era starting and ending.

I’ve come to realize a couple things. The Attitude Era was a great time in the WWE and during the Monday Night Wars. It was a great time to be a fan of WWE, WCW and ECW. But, it will NEVER be duplicated. No matter how bad TNA wants it, no matter how bad the fans want it.
But I always wanted to know why fans clammored for the Attitude Era so much. I’ve realized that the fans who are obsessed with that era, are fans who ONLY became fans in that era. They never watched WWE in the early 1990’s. They never watched WWE in the 1980’s. My advice is, become a real fan. Watch old WWE footage on Classics on Demand. Watch Youtube. If you watched all that old stuff, this PG era wouldn’t really bother you. It doesn’t bother me.
simple facts are that the attitude era made wrestling as a whole better and the nWo is probably to credit for the attitude era being born.
that being said not everything was all gold during those years either–some of their angles were not entertaining at all.
just go back and watch the ppvs from 1998-2000 and you can see some painful angles to watch.

Bret Hart was against the Attitude Era movement, it’s on Wrestling with Shawdows and Bret vs Shawn. He didn’t like Austin doing whatever the fuck Stone Cold wanted to do and he didn’t like Shawn and DX. Bret can be a man and say Attitude Era was awesome, 1997-1998 best time to be a wrestling fan, for me DX and NWO during that time loved it and they were similar but different NWO was about taking over WCW and DX was about being a Degeranate.
This DVD and Blu-ray better be TV 14 because that’s what the Attitude Era was not this Little Jimmy and Cena crap going on now. It pains me to watch now.
Who didn’t like the Attirude Era, I mean it was the right thing to do have more attitude which DX and Stone Cold showed first and then Rock became huge. The Attitude Era started when Shawn Michaels and the Kliq was pushing for more attitude and it turned out to be a genius of an idea.

i got bound for glory off of shoptna–i hope theyre still going to release the turning point/final resolution twin pack but i have heard rumors theyre not going to.
@LP1 I have that set and its missing LOTS of things and half the stuff isn’t full as well just highlights there is also hardly anything ever been released for 2000 RAW which was the best year of the attitude era for me.
Honestly, what can be included on this set that hasn’t been released a million times already on old dvd’s and vhs? You don’t have to wait for this dvd release to come out. Go on eBay and try to find the Best Of Raw Vol 1 & 2 dvd release from 2001. It’s pretty much gonna be the same exact thing plus there’s no blurs and “WW-” sound drops.
…and the WWF stratch logos will be blurred. What else do you expect? Hopefully they use a better editing technology because the huge blurs they used in the past made you feel like you’re suffering from cataract.
Calm down guys. The Stone Cold documentary was rated TV-14 and so was OMG Top 50 Incidents (I guess). There’s no way the Attitude Era can be remembered in a “PG-Cena” format.
You would think with all the tenchnology now days. They would do something other than blurring the wwf logo. Like put the wwe symbols on the turnbuckles. Sighns. etc…… Otherwise Im truly excited about this set.
The Attitude Era was the best time to be a WWE fan. And this release has the potential to be great. But I will refuse to buy it if they blur out the logos, as that will affect the whole DVD. Same reason why I refused to buy the DVD sets on Austin and The Rock.
I don’t think the whole releasing in PG environment is the real story. That didn’t stop WWE from releasing TV-14 sets like Hell in a Cell Anthology, Elimination Chamber Anthology, Undertaker Deadliest Matches, Greatest Steel Cage matches, among others which were filled with violent and bloody matches.
I think the main concern is the amount of editing such as the scratch logo. But the last few years the blurring has much better compared to the earlier times. The logo is at least blended in and not distracting.
I’m sure this would sell really well anyway, but is there much they can put on it that they haven’t already released on RAW, Stone Cold and The Rock DVDs along with others?
I’ve seen some shows on WWE Classics on Demand where the logo was blurred, but not too bad. Then I’ve seen some DVD’s where the logo is blurred so bad that you can’t even see the ring posts/buckles.
Anyway, this “Attitude” news is great news! I can’t wait to see what they’re cooking up. I see some great DVD sets coming out this year!
And RAW 2000 hasn’t been released well at all the 15th anniversary DVD only included ONE match and that is it!!! And it was the best year of the Attitude Era for me as well.
Am i the only one who doesn’t care that much about the blurring? So whats your alternative? to download a ripped copy of a VHS and hope its good quality? I’m looking forward to this and i hope we get rare matches and segments. A lot of the stuff was documented in Raws 15th year anniversary dvd set. Obviously they will have most of the big segments but i want a lot of the undercard feuds at the time to.
God I hope soe and can’t wait to see and here more info I just hope they don’t censor it because what would be the point in making this if they were going to water it down .I miss all the blood and real action and don’t know why Vince doesn’t realize that people want that kind of stuff now .I am not saying ever match should be bloody but matches like .Hell In The Cell .Last Man Standing . Street Fights,The ambulance Match.,The Elimination Chamber all those matches should have blood and hard violence in them that what made the show so good .
WWE released the Stone Cold DVD full of swearing and unblurred middle fingers so i think WWE has changed its standing on TV-14 releases and i don’t think they will care when they rake in all that cash it could easily be the most purchased DVD ever.
This is a GREAT! idea. The only problem like they said is the questionable censoring.If they go all balls out on this dvd no editing. This will be a for sure must have.
I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of the content was the same as the Raw 15th Anniversary set, since I reckon the main focus will be having those moments on Blu Ray. I just hope it won’t be censored up for the PG era, and maybe include a doc too….
There have already been 3 DVD’s dedicated to HHH, I don’t think we need another one. The first 2 were ok, and I snubbed the King of Kings one due to the logo blurring.
One big Divas set would be cool but all the little underwear releases like they used to do were never very good. An ultimate best of the Divas across 3 discs would be great though. They could have done a womens title DVD but they messed up the lineage by removing the women’s title and keeping the ‘Divas’ title. They should have just renamed the bloody belt. They could probably get away with it anyway though. They kind of overlooked a few issues on the World Heavyweight Title DVD. The wwe has never let the facts get in the way of a good story.
I think that maybe not only should they bring out an Attitude Era DVD, they should bring out a DVD saluting the Divas of the WWE. It has been six years since a Divas DVD has been released. I think they should salute all of the Divas over the last 25 years: Elizabeth, Trish Stratus, Sable, Lita, Torrie Wilson, Eve Torres, Kelly Kelly, etc. and also have their greatest matches and all time classic moments with every one of them. There have been DVD’s of Stone Cold, The Rock, Randy Orton, why not the Divas.

i scored a vengeance 2002 wwe shop version for $18 that is great shape–proud of that one.
I sure remember the Attitude Era and i think it’s a very good idea to release it on DVD. It was a very wild time in the WWE and very popular. I would recommend the WWE to say that this DVD is definitely NOT for the kids to watch. I would buy it.
oldschool: The Triple H DVD was not only rumored, it was actually added to the schedule and given a release date. Then for unknown reasosn it was removed and hasn’t yet been added back. If/when it is I’ll post about it. π
As long as they make it clear on the packaging that its not suitable for kids I don’t see a problem. In 2008 when the PG era is said to have started the shops would have been full of the ECW, Ladder Match and Hell in a Cell DVDs. I’m sure they can find enough content from that period of time where the footage isnt that bad. Besides I dont think of all the adult humour of the attitude era as being anything special. ‘Puppies’ for example isnt what I regard as great wrestling. A lot of the undercard matches were quite poor during that time too. What they really need to worry about is the great personalities of the wrestlers around at that time and the top main events. To be honest a lot of that has been out on DVD already. But there will be enough stuff to scrape a decent set together because Raw was always entertaining in those days.

A best Of would be hard to do. Real hard. And they’re always opinionated so people will say well this should have been here too.
And it would be hard because there’s been some great matches and segments.
If they’re gonna do a Best Of, I say at least let the fans submit suggestions and go from there.
Personally, I think 1998 was a great year. I doubt they will give that year it’s own set though lol.

@LP1 I have that set and its missing LOTS of things and half the stuff isn’t full as well just highlights there is also hardly anything ever been released for 2000 RAW which was the best year of the attitude era for me.
I’m used to the blurs now.no use complaining.and I know people say the attitude era ended in 2001.my opinion,it ended in 2002
Honestly, what can be included on this set that hasn’t been released a million times already on old dvd’s and vhs? You don’t have to wait for this dvd release to come out. Go on eBay and try to find the Best Of Raw Vol 1 & 2 dvd release from 2001. It’s pretty much gonna be the same exact thing plus there’s no blurs and “WW-” sound drops.

i just hope whoever puts this dvd together doesn’t screw up the match listing like it happened to the edge, austin and the rock’s dvd sets.
…and the WWF stratch logos will be blurred. What else do you expect? Hopefully they use a better editing technology because the huge blurs they used in the past made you feel like you’re suffering from cataract.
This has to be such wonderful news. In fact, a DVD about the Attitude era of the WWF is such a wonderful idea.
Calm down guys. The Stone Cold documentary was rated TV-14 and so was OMG Top 50 Incidents (I guess). There’s no way the Attitude Era can be remembered in a “PG-Cena” format.
This DVD will a huge success.

You would think with all the tenchnology now days. They would do something other than blurring the wwf logo. Like put the wwe symbols on the turnbuckles. Sighns. etc…… Otherwise Im truly excited about this set.

The Attitude Era was the best time to be a WWE fan. And this release has the potential to be great. But I will refuse to buy it if they blur out the logos, as that will affect the whole DVD. Same reason why I refused to buy the DVD sets on Austin and The Rock.

I don’t think the whole releasing in PG environment is the real story. That didn’t stop WWE from releasing TV-14 sets like Hell in a Cell Anthology, Elimination Chamber Anthology, Undertaker Deadliest Matches, Greatest Steel Cage matches, among others which were filled with violent and bloody matches.
I think the main concern is the amount of editing such as the scratch logo. But the last few years the blurring has much better compared to the earlier times. The logo is at least blended in and not distracting.
I’m sure this would sell really well anyway, but is there much they can put on it that they haven’t already released on RAW, Stone Cold and The Rock DVDs along with others?

I’ve seen some shows on WWE Classics on Demand where the logo was blurred, but not too bad. Then I’ve seen some DVD’s where the logo is blurred so bad that you can’t even see the ring posts/buckles.
Anyway, this “Attitude” news is great news! I can’t wait to see what they’re cooking up. I see some great DVD sets coming out this year!
Can’t wait for this and going to be a lot of DX moments on this set, hope they include Sable on this set.
And RAW 2000 hasn’t been released well at all the 15th anniversary DVD only included ONE match and that is it!!! And it was the best year of the Attitude Era for me as well.
Am i the only one who doesn’t care that much about the blurring? So whats your alternative? to download a ripped copy of a VHS and hope its good quality? I’m looking forward to this and i hope we get rare matches and segments. A lot of the stuff was documented in Raws 15th year anniversary dvd set. Obviously they will have most of the big segments but i want a lot of the undercard feuds at the time to.
Anything more than 1 diva match or segment on a DVD set is a waste of space. Even that one match is a waste of space.
God I hope soe and can’t wait to see and here more info I just hope they don’t censor it because what would be the point in making this if they were going to water it down .I miss all the blood and real action and don’t know why Vince doesn’t realize that people want that kind of stuff now .I am not saying ever match should be bloody but matches like .Hell In The Cell .Last Man Standing . Street Fights,The ambulance Match.,The Elimination Chamber all those matches should have blood and hard violence in them that what made the show so good .
WWE released the Stone Cold DVD full of swearing and unblurred middle fingers so i think WWE has changed its standing on TV-14 releases and i don’t think they will care when they rake in all that cash it could easily be the most purchased DVD ever.
This is a GREAT! idea. The only problem like they said is the questionable censoring.If they go all balls out on this dvd no editing. This will be a for sure must have.
I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of the content was the same as the Raw 15th Anniversary set, since I reckon the main focus will be having those moments on Blu Ray. I just hope it won’t be censored up for the PG era, and maybe include a doc too….

There have already been 3 DVD’s dedicated to HHH, I don’t think we need another one. The first 2 were ok, and I snubbed the King of Kings one due to the logo blurring.
One big Divas set would be cool but all the little underwear releases like they used to do were never very good. An ultimate best of the Divas across 3 discs would be great though. They could have done a womens title DVD but they messed up the lineage by removing the women’s title and keeping the ‘Divas’ title. They should have just renamed the bloody belt. They could probably get away with it anyway though. They kind of overlooked a few issues on the World Heavyweight Title DVD. The wwe has never let the facts get in the way of a good story.
I think that maybe not only should they bring out an Attitude Era DVD, they should bring out a DVD saluting the Divas of the WWE. It has been six years since a Divas DVD has been released. I think they should salute all of the Divas over the last 25 years: Elizabeth, Trish Stratus, Sable, Lita, Torrie Wilson, Eve Torres, Kelly Kelly, etc. and also have their greatest matches and all time classic moments with every one of them. There have been DVD’s of Stone Cold, The Rock, Randy Orton, why not the Divas.

i scored a vengeance 2002 wwe shop version for $18 that is great shape–proud of that one.
I sure remember the Attitude Era and i think it’s a very good idea to release it on DVD. It was a very wild time in the WWE and very popular. I would recommend the WWE to say that this DVD is definitely NOT for the kids to watch. I would buy it.

oldschool: The Triple H DVD was not only rumored, it was actually added to the schedule and given a release date. Then for unknown reasosn it was removed and hasn’t yet been added back. If/when it is I’ll post about it. π
As long as they make it clear on the packaging that its not suitable for kids I don’t see a problem. In 2008 when the PG era is said to have started the shops would have been full of the ECW, Ladder Match and Hell in a Cell DVDs. I’m sure they can find enough content from that period of time where the footage isnt that bad. Besides I dont think of all the adult humour of the attitude era as being anything special. ‘Puppies’ for example isnt what I regard as great wrestling. A lot of the undercard matches were quite poor during that time too. What they really need to worry about is the great personalities of the wrestlers around at that time and the top main events. To be honest a lot of that has been out on DVD already. But there will be enough stuff to scrape a decent set together because Raw was always entertaining in those days.
When is the rumored triple h dvd getting released?
Hope it’s a 4 disc DVD along with a 3 disc blu ray loaded with bd exclusive features.
Unfortunately it will have every WWF logo censored, and so will be a blurry mess throughout. If it is I won’t be buying this.
