So, since Friday you’ve been hearing of WWE’s plans to release a new WCW themed DVD, specifically The Best of NWA/WCW Clash of the Champions. Now it’s time for us to exclusively reveal some first details on the project.
We can confirm the new release will be a 3-Disc DVD collection, and for the first time WWE will produce a WCW compilation of matches on Blu-ray format, which will be a 2-Disc set. Taking this into account we know the set is to be a “Best of” style, rather than a full Anthology.
WWE have not yet made a final decision on a name for the production, so as of now it’s listed on the schedule as simply “WWE: WCW Clash of the Champions”. That’s bound to change later.
The release date of May 22nd, 2012 to the United States can also be confirmed.

For close to a decade, professional wrestling fans loved Clash of the Champions, a series of supercards that aired on TBS, featuring the biggest stars of first NWA and the WCW. Over the course of 35 events from 1988 through 1997, fans were treated to championship contests, grudge matches, and spectacular moments.
Many of these matches have never been released on home video until now.
The Best of the Clash of the Champions, hosted by 3-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Hall of Famer, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, will highlight some of the greatest matches in the event’s ten-year history and features fan favorites Ric Flair, Sting, The Road Warriors, Lex Luger, the Four Horsemen, the nWo, and so many more.

I knew this set had to be released. Now if we can get a Million $ Man Ted Dibiase DVD set, a Best of Tuesday Night Titans DVD set, and an Undertaker Unreleased Archives DVD set, then that would be awesome.
I remember watching Clash of the Champions when it was on TBS back in the 1990s. Now that WWE Home Video is putting out a DVD set devoted to WCW’s Clash of the Champions, I look forward to reliving the matches that I once saw on TV. By the way, I love the poster of Ricky Steamboat and Rick Flair from Clash of the Champions VI. If only they would include the match on this DVD, I would be so happy.
Hope the first Clash’s main event-Sting vs. Flair is on this as well as the finale of the last Clash episode when Sting delivered his message to the nWo with the vulture on his arm…..
I should get the Starrcade Essential Collection before this comes out.

Can’t wait to see what they put on there..of course if the do Steamboat vs. Flair, Sting vs. Flair and Flair vs. Funk there is one Disc.
No Dustin Rhodes vs. Vader = no buy from me.
It’s really depends on the matches if I will buy this or not I mean Clash of the Champions I feel was way ahead of it time and I see all of them so I just have to wait and see on this one .
hopefully they will have a match on there from cedarapids iowa cause i was there for that one

Gotta love that poster up above with Steamboat’s kid in there, classic stuff. I simply cannot wait for this set and can admit that I am yet to purchase a WWE Blu-Ray, this one will be my first. I can only imagine the extras. This will likely be the release of the year.
